This is superbly shot and their emotion in their faces and voices just show how we feel when we are in an anxiety attack. 10 seconds in when Matt hits us with his first low note I got chills, and when Mitch said 'See right through me', I choke on a sob. My favorite wall of sound is the one in Imagine where they literally sound like one voice which was the message of the cover!
When I first listened, I was looking away for just a moment and didn't see Matt come in. My instant thought was "Oh, Kevin has Beyonce out!" Nope, but Matt can do a great imitation of a cello! I know that Mitch + Avi was called "Mavi," so I think that Mitch + Matt should be - "Match!"

I was only able to last December for their Christmas tour, though I've loved them for years. I did VIP because I just had to meet them the first chance I got. My one regret is that I never got to meet Avi, but I will fix that when he is able to reschedule his American tour that got cut short this year.

Why am I just now discovering this channel? New sub now! Great reaction - and yes, Kirstie does look right through you at the end there (it's not the first time she's done that). What makes this version so moving, I think, is the background chords. Bass fifths in some places, and what sounds like woodwinds in others. Just stunning. And then there's Mitch and Matt harmonizing. And Kevin goes almost unnoticed, but if you listen carefully you can hear him hitting some incredible high harmonies. That fifth voice makes a big difference. I've heard that some people don't really care for this recording, but for me this is one of their most powerful. I've listened to this probably a dozen or more times so far, and I still can't get all the way through without tearing up a bit.
I love the lower registers on this one - I find that way more powerful . Their ranges are just ridiculous. Matt is just outstanding - I think it would have been very difficult for him not to smile throughout this one haha... They all look stunning and sound more amazing than ever. Happy birthday week, Brad! My birthday was yesterday, the 18th, which was also the day that I first listened to PTX's "Mad World," which says "happy birthday" but with so much irony.
It almost has a 90’s Michael Jackson-style arrangement. Very reminiscent of Earth Song. I prefer the bleakness of the Gary Jules cover and the paranoia of the Tears For Fears original, but PTX’s interpretation has a hopefulness to it that is refreshing.
The Shadow People walking behind PTX are the artist. Scott has Scott walking behind him. Kirsten has Kirsten behind her. The same with Mitch, Matt, and Kevin. As the song is progressing, the Shadow People are erasing as the walking footage is reversed. Spooky.

The Donnie Darko version (2001) is a cover. Tears for Fears released it in 1982/3 or so. It is a very 80s sounding song in the original, PTX has made it sound absolutely new.
That's the second day in a row that someone has mentioned Vocal Point ! One of the commentors on a PTX video reaction said yesterday that he had a family member in one of the other groups when PTX were on the Sing Off and I asked him which group and he said Vocal Point ! - I said yesterday that I want to check them out !
