The MP5 is like your shy girlfriend. She's kinda small, a bit quiet and reserved and generally a good girl, but she can still be pretty vicious, and she secretly really likes it when you give her a good slap.
A lot of people think the majority of firearms are fragile like glass, in the military your NCO’s often say that if you hit it hard enough that it breaks they won’t only pay for the replacement, but they’ll be buying all of your rounds that night because you’re clearly someone that’s been eating their greens and shouldn’t be messed with
I had a feeling the MP5 would be in this Iconic Arms series. It does have a significant presence in the game world. Not sure if any other SMGs could be in the next run of videos. It seems like SMG auto-defaults to the MP5 in most games, with no other single SMG getting a large enough presence to be considered iconic. Now, other weapon categories have plenty of options, though I think the biggest would probably be the SPAS-12 shotgun. You see that in quite a few titles nowadays. EDIT: I'd like to add a caveat to this video. While the MP5 is often in the hands of the good guys, the MP5K variant is more often seen in the hands of the bad guys.
One of my favorite SMGs, both in real life AND in video games. Left 4 Dead 2 had an update back in 2019 which added the MP5 to the roster of default weapons in-game, without the need of the Steam Workshop.
For the next season I expect: M16/AR-15, M1911 pistol, Thompson smg, PSG-1, Uzi, M60 lmg, Glock pistol The season after here some more: FN FAL, M40 sniper rifle, SPAS 12, Colt Python (+ other revolvers), M2 .50 BMG heavy machine gun, MP40 smg, Minigun, M14 And even more: FN P90, Winchester model 12, MAC-10, Steyr AUG I think I covered the most iconic ones there :)
The Remington 870 or the Mossberg 500 are probably more Iconic than the Model 12. hell, the Browning Auto-5 is probably more well known than the Model 12 is.
Slavko Gelo M60, Steyr AUG, Winchester Model 12, P90, Spas 12, Colt Python, M40, M14, MAC 10, and (FN FAL) are not iconic. Instead I would suggest, G3, MG42, M1 Garand, Mossberg 500/Remington 800
Well, the H&K G3 battle rifles, along with her sisters, H&K MP5(SMG), H&K PSG-1(sniper rifle) and even the infamous HK21/HK23(MMG; light is a understatement, as 21E fires more powerful 7.62x51mm NATO rounds), all have used the same delayed rollerback mechanism(thus sharing the same stylish HK slap, albeit in different manners, since longer guns have folding charging handle; only MP5's have different design)

See? The SCAR and P90 were both on there, probably FNH's biggest sellers. One could say the Five-seveN is a big name too. The former 2 + the F2000 have civilian versions. But I would've said the FNX lineup, Ballista, SCAR, P90, and the Five-seveN I would say the HAMR but unfortunately, that had the same fate as HK's XM8
MP5k. Specialist. I've had to play the role because of bad server choices in the past. Also on engie, and while it's not as good as the UMP45 it is still there if you need the supply points for C4 or something. But I can understand if you can't find video, it's just it is a very counter-terrorist focused game so the whole "Mp5 counter-terrorist perfect weapon" thing fits right in with insurgency's perfect counter-terrorist game.

A lot of people think the majority of firearms are fragile like glass, in the military your NCO’s often say that if you hit it hard enough that it breaks they won’t only pay for the replacement, but they’ll be buying all of your rounds that night because you’re clearly someone that’s been eating their greens and shouldn’t be messed with

I had a feeling the MP5 would be in this Iconic Arms series. It does have a significant presence in the game world.
Not sure if any other SMGs could be in the next run of videos. It seems like SMG auto-defaults to the MP5 in most games, with no other single SMG getting a large enough presence to be considered iconic.
Now, other weapon categories have plenty of options, though I think the biggest would probably be the SPAS-12 shotgun. You see that in quite a few titles nowadays.
EDIT: I'd like to add a caveat to this video. While the MP5 is often in the hands of the good guys, the MP5K variant is more often seen in the hands of the bad guys.

One of my favorite SMGs, both in real life AND in video games.
Left 4 Dead 2 had an update back in 2019 which added the MP5 to the roster of default weapons in-game, without the need of the Steam Workshop.
For the next season I expect: M16/AR-15, M1911 pistol, Thompson smg, PSG-1, Uzi, M60 lmg, Glock pistol
The season after here some more: FN FAL, M40 sniper rifle, SPAS 12, Colt Python (+ other revolvers), M2 .50 BMG heavy machine gun, MP40 smg, Minigun, M14
And even more: FN P90, Winchester model 12, MAC-10, Steyr AUG

The Remington 870 or the Mossberg 500 are probably more Iconic than the Model 12. hell, the Browning Auto-5 is probably more well known than the Model 12 is.
Slavko Gelo M60, Steyr AUG, Winchester Model 12, P90, Spas 12, Colt Python, M40, M14, MAC 10, and (FN FAL) are not iconic.
Instead I would suggest, G3, MG42, M1 Garand, Mossberg 500/Remington 800

Well, the H&K G3 battle rifles, along with her sisters, H&K MP5(SMG), H&K PSG-1(sniper rifle) and even the infamous HK21/HK23(MMG; light is a understatement, as 21E fires more powerful 7.62x51mm NATO rounds), all have used the same delayed rollerback mechanism(thus sharing the same stylish HK slap, albeit in different manners, since longer guns have folding charging handle; only MP5's have different design)

I was super excited to have the MP5 as a starting weapon in Ghost Recon Wildlands, then sad when I discovered Nomad doesn't do the slap.
Thatcher should have an MP5. It would make sense because his legendary skin is called operation nimrod. He is also in the SAS. Only problem is, he already has 3 guns and they can’t give him a fourth

Also on engie, and while it's not as good as the UMP45 it is still there if you need the supply points for C4 or something.
But I can understand if you can't find video, it's just it is a very counter-terrorist focused game so the whole "Mp5 counter-terrorist perfect weapon" thing fits right in with insurgency's perfect counter-terrorist game.
