That's accurate. The peas I had for dinner last night was so hard you could probably load it in a musket with some gunpowder, shoot it, and it probably would've penetrated 1.5mm layers of titanium, 20 layers of kevlar at a range of 150 meters and became the standard NATO PDW cartridge.
Usually it's just a case of balancing in video games. A weapon with a super high ROF usually needs to do less damage per shot otherwise it would be OP.
Meanwhile in CS:GO Five-seveN: Able to one-shot kill opponents wearing helmets P90, from the same company and fires the same caliber: "99 damage in 99 hits"
I like that one scene from SG where they give rebels weapon crates full of P90, and the rebels apologize and ask what are those because they are used to spearguns. They setup a shooting range, a guy with polearm shoots three times, misses once, does slight burning damage to the taget. Then Carter takes her p-90 and proceeds to cut the target in half

Yeah although one part that was pretty unrealistic was when SG1 tries to convince the Jaffa that human weapons are not to be underestimated. Carter just casually saws a tree trunk in half with one mag of her P90, then snipes a thick rope clean off with a single bullet. Good scene overall, but pretty laughable.
I got a chance to fire a P90 in Las Vegas at Battlefield indoor range a few years ago. It was the most stable and comfortable gun I have ever shot. The P90 ergonomics are top notch.

The PS90 has seen commercial success here in the states. It's compact, ideal for indoors, which makes it more than applicable for home defense, and the rounds are designed to destabilize after striking mediums like dry wall to cut down on over penetration, so your neighbors don't become part of your gun fight.
Maybe in a semi auto configuration sure but full auto? Nope. Federal assault weapons ban of 1994 put a stop to that Only full auto firearms that predate the ban can be sold/owned making it a very small market with full auto weapons going for over 10,000$ Basically of you want a modern day full auto firearm you need to get a semi auto firearm and then configure it yourself to full auto But once you do so it's illegal on the federal level so you better keep that full auto out on the country back road where the eyes of the law aren't looking
What the hell kinda “home defense” requires a 50 round SMG? You expecting the entire 101st Airborne to be kicking down your door? You’re still going to lose.
Here's my next suggestions: -Flamethrowers: Sadistic, and terrifying, Iconic across many games of all time. All fast paced run & gun shooters tend to feature one. -Crossbow: Iconic in many genres of games, from Medieval games, to shooters when you need a quiet option that reuses its ammo. Was a firm favourite of mine in Perfect Dark! -UMP: Usually the .45 variant in many modern shooters where you need an SMG that hits hard. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Counter Strike have both cemented the reputation of the game in particular. -Glock Pistols: Gangbangers, cops, personal defense... Glocks do it all and are very prevalent in many modern crime games. -Mosin-Nagant: The Mosin-Nagant has been a staple firearm of the former Eastern Bloc for a very long time. It emerged in 1891 and still sees use today. Many a WW2 shooter has featured the weapon, but it also has become iconic in many video games set in the present as well such as Day Z and Insurgency. -Steyr AUG: Space age looking, compact, and providing reliable firepower behind it. Popular in many modern shooters. Many sci-fi and futuristic games use guns similar in appearance too, due to its strange futuristic appearance. -PSG1: Not as popular as it once was, but this was in many video games seen as the ultimate modern sniper rifle that could do it all. The Metal Gear Solid series, Soldier of Fortune series and Delta Force come to mind with this one. -Lee-Enfield: Any WW2 shooter probably has one if it features the British. It's also in many WW1 shooters, with many different variants. Even appears today in the Middle East on the battlefields of Afghanistan. -Winchester Lever Guns: Any Western themed game is going to see one of these, they are so iconic its ridiculous. -Makarov PM: The ultimate Russian pistol, iconic from Cold War games, as well as modern shooters, spy games, seen as the bad guy pistol often times. -MAC-10: The gangbangers favourite. Loads of a firepower that you can hide in your pocket. The bad guy SMG. -M203: When you want to annihilate everyone in the room with a single shot, switch to this instead of your rifle. Modern military shooters are almost guaranteed to showcase one. -RPG-7: See that enemy tank or vehicle? It's no more. Modern military shooters, a terrorists favourite against vehicles. Also great for many action Hollywood esque games, when the bad guy needs to cause absolute destruction. -MP40: The Nazi gun. I can't think of a single WW2 shooter in Europe that will not showcase this gun. It's a defining weapon of any WW2 game. -MG42: The Nazi turret. Most WW2 shooters will showcase this weapon, and it's generally combined with absolutely horrifying levels of ripping noises when its fired due to the sheer rate of fire. When you want to know how it feels to be pinned down by an enemy and accepting that you're probably going to die where you are, try and face off against a bad guy's MG42.

You forgot the panzerfaust a Nazi Anti tank weapon using HEAT rounds which was made before the RPG. STG 44 which inspired the AK-47 but not as reliable Luger P08 Classic German pistol M1 Carbine the American rifle used by the boys in the sky M3 "Grease gun"'very reliable and controllable SMG used by the Americans and replaced the Thompson FG-42 a Nazi paratrooper assault rifle that used full rifle rounds

@Magni56 American Standard for years was .30 caliber as the minimum cartridge. The m14 was chosen in place of the FAL Or G3 which were superior options because of generals in the military favoring American designs. The switch to 5.56x45 was made by almost every part of NATO.
The reason why the P90 was used in Stargate SG1 was not because it looked futuristic, but because the cartridge cases were ejected downwards, resulting in fewer injuries for the actors. In the beginning, the MP-5 was still used. It was not until around season 3 that they switched to the P90.
I heard that it also looked better on camera due to ejecting out the bottom, you'd never get a cartridge case covering an actor's face at a dramatic moment.

I fired the FN PS90 (non-auto, civilian-legal version) at a range once. Very unusual gun with a sort of ridiculous loading mechanism, but very fun to use. Fairly accurate at medium range, but of course I did better at long range with an AR. Edit: Fixed model name.
I got to shoot a fully-automatic FN P90 when I went to Las Vegas and it instantly became one of my most favorite firearms. That thing had almost no recoil and my grouping on the target was extremely tight for full-auto. I hope to get the FN57 for my next pistol.
Indigo Gaming I recently purchased a PS90 and I'm extremely happy with it. Only problem is the barrel length for the civilian version is a bit annoying, not to mention the cost of ammunition for it.

New fan here and I think I know why this TH-camr is awesome at making gun profiles. Most gun channels do one of two things: Take it apart and talk about the mechanics of it. Or Take it out and fire it. Those two are fine but I have never seen anyone delve into the iconic nature, history and culture behind the fire arm. Anyway, big fan!
I know a channel named forgotten weapons that sorta do both things you mentioned, but its about less iconic guns, and their development history, which I still find pretty interesting
I distinctly remember how painful it was to drop my old rifle in Spec Ops: the Line, but I did it for the P90. Kept that sucker up until I absolutely needed to trade it out for a grenade launcher.
Ahh the P90, I remember when I first saw this. I saw it on Stargate SG1 and was like "Woah, I want that gun" It really is pretty cool. From what I saw on the show you could switch to single shot to be more accurate. And the magazine hook up was also pretty cool and compact. I actually would be interested in owning one of these someday.
Civvie versions, they come semi. If you're in the US you can get the extended barrel version. Sadly, since it's so compact, if it doesn't have a suppressor or barrel extender it can't legally be owned (Considered an SBR) but if you grab one of the import models, it's yours with just a standard rifle licence.
iamfuturetrunks oh yea I remember the early seasons of sg1 when I was a kid and they used mp5. What bothered me tho was why use p90s. realistically they would have assault rifles especially considering the jaffas armor. but still a good show
darknessofevil117 Presumably the same reason that the standard field arm used aboard the Battlestar Galactica was a 9mm carbine when they're fighting big bulky robots.
darknessofevil117 It seems SG1 was more research, exploration and diplomacy focused than the other teams, because that's exactly what they did with a few of the others. I think SG8 had rifles with grenade launchers? What bothered me more was when the russians showed up and didn't bring Bisons. Missed opportunity.
There barely exists any modern fully automatic military firearms that would NOT be select-fire, AKA have at least single-shot mode as an option. Full auto mode is surprisingly seldom used in real life, no matter how much films and games try to glorify the full-fun dakka dakka.

It's compact, ideal for indoors, which makes it more than applicable for home defense, and the rounds are designed to destabilize after striking mediums like dry wall to cut down on over penetration, so your neighbors don't become part of your gun fight.
too bad the nfa exists and unless you want a $200 extra hassle and an average 10 moth wait then you get the ps atrocity
Maybe in a semi auto configuration sure but full auto? Nope. Federal assault weapons ban of 1994 put a stop to that
Only full auto firearms that predate the ban can be sold/owned making it a very small market with full auto weapons going for over 10,000$
Basically of you want a modern day full auto firearm you need to get a semi auto firearm and then configure it yourself to full auto
But once you do so it's illegal on the federal level so you better keep that full auto out on the country back road where the eyes of the law aren't looking

What the hell kinda “home defense” requires a 50 round SMG? You expecting the entire 101st Airborne to be kicking down your door? You’re still going to lose.
Here's my next suggestions:
-Flamethrowers: Sadistic, and terrifying, Iconic across many games of all time.

There barely exists any modern fully automatic military firearms that would NOT be select-fire, AKA have at least single-shot mode as an option.

back in the army i remember being quite surprised in training whilst returning fire at night, sat in a hole and feeling the hot casings fall down the inside of my shirt lol
What video games taught me:
M4A1 = the good guy
AK47 = the bad guy
P90 = the russian guy
Windoge 10 The truth:
M4A1 = The oppressor
AK-47 = The oppressed
P90 = Still Russians
Windoge 10 what csgo taught me*
Windoge 10 well ak can be russian but it still works
I like p90s and I'm American

“If you wanted the best, you bought German” why do I find that so epic sounding
"German engineering is the greatest in the world!"
@@SniperOnSunday i prefer soviet engineering
@@TragicTester034 tanks? yea ak? yea but for the rest we had alternatives
Stargate made me love the P90, glad you brought it up
Irl: actually a pretty good smg all around
R6: peashooter that does like 30 damage and has way too much recoil
Mp7 in R6: i r o n s i g h t s
You are wrong!! This gun was designed to rush B!
I was disappointed that "Rush B" was not the closing sentiment of the video :(
Kizbubsy RUSKI
but he did mention that p90 often related to noobs rushing bomb sites
Kizbubsy *CYKA BLYAT* intensifies
RUSH B, NO STOP!
Growing up on Stargate SG-1, I worshipped this weapon. Watching this thing rip through Jaffa armor makes alot more sense now.
"This is a weapon of war. It is meant to KILL your enemy." - Colonel Jonathan "Jack" O'Neill, briefing the Jaffa rebels on how crappy Staff Weapons are compared to a P90
@@jarontin "and its capable of doing so at 5 times the range i just demonstrated"
@@humzaahmed7934 To be honest, I ain't believing that you would hit anything with a PDW at 350yrds....but...eh...it sounded cool back then...
Iirc, jaffa armor is made of mediocre material and constructed badly. It's worse than late medieval plating. One could probably send a .17 HMR through it.

We need staff rifles and rotary staff guns.
I'm surprised I couldn't find a scp guard reference in the comments.
That joke was so [REDACTED] it made me [DATA EXPUNGED]
Comrade Tim Haha lol That [REDACTED]
I was waiting for him to bring th scene where you see AGENT: Ulgrin escorting you to peanuts chamber.
Me too
Oh that's [DATA EXPUNGED]. [REDACTED].
Jack holding a staff weapon: "This is a weapon of terror. It's meant to intimidate your enemy."
Jack holding a P90: "This is a weapon of war! It's meant to kill your enemy!"

I love his voice.
he has a "history channel" voice
Ben Hadad sounds just like a science teacher at my school.
Ben Hadad not only that but every sentence is short and concise and you can tell every word is carefully chosen and adds a lot to the video.
I wish more people could say that to me. All I get is this: "Oh my god, are you 12?" "You're such a fag." It's only when I talk to others and sing that I actually get admired. So sad. :(
Ben Hadad Has anyone else noticed that he sounds just like Sean Bean?
The engineering and innovation behind this gun is amazing. One of the most innovative weapons since the AR platform.
I just love how The Germans got butthurt over the fact that one of its neighbours made a better weapons pair than themselves.
Joshua Fearn FN were snubbed for long enough (The MAG was initially dismissed, the FAL was put through deliberately biased "testing" to ensure the M14's victory)
Joshua Fearn But both the FN fal beat the M14 and FN mag beat the m60 for service use
Joshua Fearn The MP7 is not a bad weapon, tf you talking about
The bigger drawback is the UCP never got developed. Makes supplying a lot harder when you have more calibres.
Because, yeah, the MP7 got to go on the UBL raid, it's a damn good weapon.
+MikeV His comment doesn't have a single word about the MP7 being bad. Learn to comprehend texts
Ah yes, two weapons are rivals, and then become teammates in SCP secret lab
He talked about Stargate SG1, so it's ok, it's a good video, you can leave a like.
Mr. Brown, your Iconic Arms series is one of the most fantastic things on this website. Since you cover more than just guns (such as the episode on the Bow & Arrow), I would be overjoyed to see an episode covering the M67 Grenade or some other explosive used in FPS games such as the German Stielhandgrenate or trusty old C4.
YESS FINALLY WHO SUGGESTED THE C4!
Next up: Pillow.
Seriously this guy could make anything sound dangerous.
" Once you use it , it will take 420 mins for you to stop using it . "
next up, another copied comment
Well, you could smother someone to death with it, soooooooooo.....
Julio Brian jeez
“Universal. Equally versatile. The recruit’s bedroom weapon, adequately revitalizing. The Pillow.”
I think this is one of those "perfect" videos for my tastes. Writing is great, pacing is good, visuals are top notch and god the music just sticks with me! I come back to this video every now and then and it keeps being just as good as it was the last time I watched it. Definitely taking notes for my own work, thanks Ahoy!
