    Pickup trucks are the most common type of vehicle on American roads. A light-duty half-ton truck can help anyone with a heavy load to haul, but some jobs call for a lot more than a light-duty truck, which is where Ford’s Super Duty pickup trucks make sense. A three-quarter-ton 2017 Ford F-250 can tow up to 21,000 pounds, or 32,500 pounds with a gooseneck rig, both of which are best-in-class capacities. Aluminum alloy body panels arrived for the F-150 in 2015, and they’ll show up on Ford’s Super Duty trucks this year. But the new Super Duties will also get a stronger frame and suspension, as well as options for a surround-view camera system, bed light, Sync 3, and a new grille.
    The standard 6.2-liter V8 Flex Fuel engine should produce more than last year’s 385 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque, and it will use a new TorqShift-G shiftable 6-speed automatic with an active transmission warm-up system and better towing abilities. The available 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8 should improve on its 440 hp and 860 lb-ft as well as its towing capacity. As usual, Super Duty trucks will be available with rear- or part-time 4-wheel drive. New safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision-mitigation braking, a blind-spot monitor, and lane-departure warnings. Read more on CarGurus: cargur.us/dbq1P

    Single Cab/Regular Cab, Long Bed pickups with 4x4 and select options are by far and away the best bang for buck, most capable, most durable yea that's right, you add a snow plow and the weight equals to that of the extended cab or crew cab counterparts making for a more understressed configuration. Also they're faster, yield better fuel economy and typically fare better where the pavement ends.
    As for capability go ahead and check the maximum tow and payload ratings for any given 2500 and above pickup truck and you'll learn that those ratings were achieved using the regular cab long bed configuration with the numerically highest available axle ratio and most potent engines.
    2017/2018 F-250 reg cab long bed 4x4 6.7 liter powerstroke XLT with FX4 package and all the utility, performance and offroad options is one hell of a vehicle, the only compromise is the glitzy wheels, body work, comfort, luxury and tech goodies you find in the higher trim levels which are the cash cows manufacturers want you to pay for while all the discerning buyers focus on capability and utility.

    Just bought a 2017 F350, single cab, 4x4 with the 6.7. With 7000 original miles.The truck is big...I am moving up from a 2011 Silverado 1500. And it feel like the difference between an S-10 and and F150. The mirrors are wide, you sit up high, cars disappear below the front of your hood at red lights. For a single cab pickup, this truck should come with its own zip code. I love it. It has just enough creature comforts and it is still a MAN’S truck. My mileage is about 13, but that could be due to me running 35s on it. I’ve noticed my speedometer is off by 4mph so I’m sure that affects the overall fuel mileage. One minor complaint...the little convex side mirror need to be automatic also.. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to get out and manually adjust them. There is no leaning over the passenger seat to do, and I’m 6’3.

    I bought a extended cab 4x4 F250 8’ bed V8 2017 XL. All I added was blue tooth, step rails, and cruise.
    The price was reasonable without all the other add ones and packages. Did business with the internet commercial salesman. No BS quickest vehicle non stress purchase I ever made. My 8th Ford truck and its awesome!! My first was a 1968 F250 camper special 390 engine 2 wheel drive. Ford and me have come along way.

    the chevy step up is not really useful. the ford solution offers easier safer access when carrying stuff especially.

      @mertz313 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BUILT DIESEL MAFIA I call bullshit on that. The step up is VERY useful on the Chevy

    • @brucewellington453
      @brucewellington453 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not entirely true. The GM bumper step is absolutely useful. My cousin has it on his Chevy, and my brother has it on his Sierra. It balances practicality and usefulness while competing with Ford's tailgate step. The GM step doesn't require any buttons to push, steps to deploy, or levers to lift. Simply step on it. Nevertheless, my Uncle and several friends have the F150's tailgate assist aka 'Man Step.' It DOES lower your step more, making it easier for the vertically challenged (5 footer) individual. However the tailgate must be open to use the step. GM's step is so useful and the simplicity of it has been so well received, they enlarged and pronounced the usefulness of it on the upcoming 2019 truck. Built Diesel Mafia you can carry stuff and use GM's step. It requires no hands to engage and you can use the stake holes or tailgate to hold if necessary. On Ford's step, whatever you're carrying must be placed down to deploy the step unless you deployed the step before placing said items in hand. Ford and GM did well with both. Ram and Toyota need to catch up. Amp Research's driver side only pull down bumper step doesn't quite cut the mustard.

      Are Chevy tailgates that hard to put down. I'm 63 yo and not in the circus. I put the gate down on every truck I work out of because it's easier and I don't need to impress the ladies.

    Great review! I've been thinking about getting a 2018 F350 Super Duty XLT Regular cab FX4 and now I definitely want one even more after seeing this review even though the one in this review was a F250. The one I spec'd on Ford's website was white, I got pretty much every option available, the gray interior and an 8 foot bed I thought about the short bed but I have driven a 21 year old version of that truck and I absolutely love it.

    The new 5.0 will getting closer to the 6.2. Heard they also might let the 150 get the same receiver so some tow numbers could go up. Gets that little bump on hp and toque. So it will be good to compare with 250 w/ 6.2.

    • @traverserun2776
      @traverserun2776 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      what you spend on the diesel motor you save in fuel. This is not just a commuter car. these often are a money maker for people. mine makes $60 per delivery and we do 10 deliveries a day in the summer. $600/day 6 days a week for 6 months covers $53,000 pretty quick. And in the winter it plows snow for 120/hr and spreads salt for $300/load times 12-15 day. And if you wait a year and get the last years model with base trim you can get these trucks for about $35000 in white. Brand new with warranty and you can usually talk them into a few extras like mudflaps, command start, box liner so they can dump the unit.

    that flip down front seat center console lid is maddening! my dad has a '16 f-150 with the split bench in front and the middle section is always in the folded position for driver arm rest. annoying as hell that the center section console lid is VERY awkward to open and reach inside with your right hand while in driver's seat....you gotta kinda lean to the left to get access your chewing gum! what the hell?! (no, i am not a "person of size"....not that there's anything wrong with that.)
    as a whole, the interior materials, except seat upholstery, on ALL F-series trucks feel cheap....waaaaaay too much hard plastic for the price. furthermore, the clunky, tonka-truck wanna-be styling inside is friggin' dumb.
    buy a RAM....inside and out the styling and functionality are nearly as timeless as a mercedes-benz. wonder where that influence came from.....

      Buy a Ram? We did. 2016 2500 MegaCab Limited 6.4 Hemi. You're right about the interior in the Ram. It's great. I love the UConnect. However, the transmission failed at 43K miles. The dealer had to change the valve body. The rear end clunks and I have lost confidence in this truck. I'm dumping it before the 60k power train warranty goes. Hence the reason I'm reviewing regular cab Fords and crew max Tundra.

    Ford.® Super•Duty Is Built Tough. Meaning The Interior Is Not Suppose To Be Pretty Looking Or Comfortable, It'a Work Truck. The Entire Truck Should Be Rough In And Out. Buy Toyota, Chevy, Or GMC If You're Looking For Comfort, Ladies.

    Ford seat are absolutely HORRIBLE. Just look at 2:47, the seat barely supports your legs, its like you sitting on a milk crate. My Explorer is the same way. Its made for short people. Talk about back pain. Its too bad because I like the F250.

      True I wouldn’t want a base model I’d spend 98k and get a 2024 platinum instead.

    Your a Chevy man and should not be allowed to give a non bias review of another truck. Even with all the great new things about a ford, you still could could not give a non bias review. This is a joke.

    All of these reviews make me never want to get rid of my 02' F350 with its 7.3l. The only nice thing I find is the power and towing capacity. Everything else takes away from it being a truck. There's just to much going on inside the cab. The amount of time these these things will be at a dealership getting fixed because of all of the extra goodies they have just turns me away. And there's no way you will be able to work on them yourselves. To top it off, there just so frigging ugly! I know it was pretty hard to top the best looking body style(99-16) that ford has ever put out. Too bad they just can't make a normal truck. The work versions come close, but still too much complexity. And 15.9 mpg, I get that on the low end with my 15 year old truck. Sorry FORD, you should have never put the 7.3l in your trucks!

    This is one of the ugliest trucks on the road. I laugh when I see them on the road.... It's a lunch box. Btw, I don't drive a chevy or own one and not brand loyal. Just calling it as I see it.
