    My wife and I have owned 8 Super Dutys, the first was actually a 1997 Heavy Duty with the 7.3 PS. All have been diesels. We used to tow a BIG living quarters horse trailer-and the 6.7D did fine-loaded out to about 18,000lbs. Flash forward to today, we bought a 2021 nicely optioned 6.2 gas XL as we rarely tow anymore, and when we do its pretty light. Too much for a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra I ordered with the 6.7L LS-3 base model Vette engine. It just struggled with fairly light loads, but was a super nice truck to drive. Then it had a lifter issue-as is common with the GM trucks. PISSED ME TF OFF! Right at 120k.
    The 6.2 Ford is outstanding, still expensive-but wtf ya gonna do????? Good video dude-THANK YOU \m/

    Ive always been a diesel guy. I’ve owned 7 3 Cummins 2 Duramax and 2 powerstroke. Then I bought a 17 f350 6.7 and my god it was beautiful, but with in the first 36k miles I had non stop emission issues, got it lemon law after a court battle. And then bought a brand new lp5 and right out of the gate it went into limp mode with 27 miles on the odo turned around and drove it back in and said nope not buying it. So I’m now rocking a 18 f350 with the 6.2 and it’s been good. Just got 135k miles I own a concrete company so I’m pulling different trailers all the time and that little 6.2 holds it own just fine. I don’t think I’ll be a buying another new diesel again.
    Gonna try out the new 7.3 gas motor next time

    I used to have a 2018f150stx but when it was time to upgrade I felt like it was worth paying the extra money for the 250 XLT. I also have the plow package dual batteries and could not be happier with this truck. I typically full my cargo trailer for construction which weighs about 4,000 lb and it's obviously effortless. I also have a 24-foot travel trailer and it is a dream pulling that as well. Next time I hope they get a Lariat but I am more than happy with the XLT. It's almost fully loaded. Love my heater seats!

    What’s up bro thank Ttm for you videos very helpful. I need your advice. From all your ford truck which would you choose if you could only have one? I run a small business and time to buy a new truck. I have a 16’ F150 (3.3v6 regular cab 2wd). It’s good and reliable, but gets not so good mpg. I think it’s the rack we have it act like wind sails. This time around I’m looking at another F150 or F250(6.2 gas), either way I want a truck with SuperCab and 4WD. I worry about the 3.5 longevity versus a regular V8. For work we don’t really ever tow if at all. So the payload is more important than the actual tow rating for me. Curious what the mpg you getting on the 3.5T, 5.0, and 6.2. I know I don’t need the F250, bit in love that truck and feel the 6.2 is the most reliable of the current Ford truck engines. What’s your opinion thanks and sorry for the long post.

      Cole, I only drive about 6k mi/yr and fortunately the 250 is not my primary vehicle. My 2011 5L F150 gets better mileage but I rarely pull my large trailer wth that truck and it only gets 17-ish mpg depending on how I drive. My frst Ford truck was a 84 F250 (stick shift) and I may have only gotten 8 mpg at best😄. So, I've never had a vehicle that really had outstanding gas performance but they all did what I needed them to do.

    Good evening to you! Thank you very much for your review! We are looking to get a couples travel trailer; mostly for 1-2 week trips while boondocking at the various places in the national forest and bureau of land management areas. I have a Tacoma; however, with anything more than a small geo pro trailer, it is over weight in the payload. When I add up our stuff, our weight actually can surpass a 1/2 ton. So, we'll most like get a 250 or 350 (not sure what is the best course of action yet). If we ever upgrade the travel trailer, I'd expect the largest we'd go to would be something like 10k lbs to do 1-2 month trips.
    So, to save $$, I am considering a 250 or 350 in a lower trim level, as well as a gasser. I haven't made a decision yet with regards to the 6.2 or the 7.3. I'm inclined to do the 6.2 due to cost. A couple of years ago, I used an Enterprise Commercial Truck rental F250 to haul a 28ft enclosed car hauler full of furniture through CO. I am never a speed demon, so I felt that it did just fine (that would have been a 6.2gasser).
    I am in CO, so I know the diesels pull better here at the higher altitudes. But.....again....I am never in a hurry and don't know if doing a 15 mile climb up the pass in 18 minutes vice 25 minutes is worth the extra $10k. Now....will the 7.3 make much of a difference over the 6.2? I'm not sure that 2 minute savings is worth the extra 2K of cost for the 7.3.
    Most of our towing, initially, will probably be 6500lbs; then maybe 10k in 3-5 years when we retire and move our trip lengths from 1-2 weeks up to 1-2 months.
    Is the 250 going to be less stiff when driving empty?
    Thank you again for your input!!

    • @TruckCentral
      @TruckCentral  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      F250 will ride stiff without weight on it unless you get the FX4 suspension (but it’ll squat more when towing). Have you considered an F150 with aftermarket rear air bags? You may not need an F250 at all with what you’re intending to tow (especially if cost is paramount)

    • @AdmiralRustyShackleford
      @AdmiralRustyShackleford 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 7.3 is a better choice for hauling/towing. It's got more torque overall and more of it from idle to peak, it won't work as hard as the 6.2 so it'll last longer and get the same, if not better, mileage. Also, more torque means less transmission shifting so that'll help transmission longevity.

    • @campingalan
      @campingalan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TruckCentral Hi there! I did look into the F150. The limiting factor that I would get too close to is the payload of the 150. I have a middle linebacker build; so me, wife, dog, bikes, generator, firewood, chairs, and then the tongue weight of a loaded up travel trailer easily flirt in the 3000lb range.

    • @campingalan
      @campingalan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdmiralRustyShackleford Good evening to you! Thank you very much for your input. Through this thought process, I've been generally favoring that 6.2l; mainly due to a lesser cost and it has a longer service history. However, I've been starting to shift over to the 7.3. We live in the mountains of CO vice on the flat front range by Denver or on the western side in the high mountain desert. Every drive will start with climbing. I'll also plan to get the 4.30 gears too. The concept of more power definitely makes sense with regards to not working as hard or running the transmission as hard. Safe travels!

      I just bought the same truck. Left over 2020 trucks are $10k to $15k less than the 2021. I test drove the 2021 6.7 and 7.3 and the 2020 6.2 one after another on a 17 mile loop. The diesel got the best recorded mileage at 21mpg, the 7.3 got 14 mpg, the 6.2 got 16 mpg. Not a great comparison, but it showed the relative efficiency of each. The 6.2 has plenty of towing capacity, only 500 lbs less than the 7.3 and I felt it had better stopping power than the diesel. At $3.00 per gallon fuel cost the diesel upcharge breaks even at 133,000 miles not counting DEF, not counting particulate filter cleaning or replacement, not counting any diesel required maintenance. Add those in and you don't break even until 175,000 miles. Not worth it to me.

    Please don't mention rust. I live in Florida, and my 2015 ford mustang is looks like a bucket of rust. I owned fords for over forty years, and my dissatisfaction with this vehicle and ford is huge. Thanks for the video. I have been looking at this same vehicle to tow my 5th wheel rv, but I'm very undecided.

    • @cliffordmontana4562

      The 6.2 with the new 6 speed is awesome! I have a crew cab long bed 4x4 with 4.30 gears. She’s a beast! The 6.4 makes about the same power but had a TERRIBLE six speed transmission, but now it has a much improved zf 8 speed, which will help get you more power and better mpg. I think you’ll be good either way. I went with the Ford because I live in Michigan and my body won’t ever rust out.

      I have the exact same truck (2019 F250 Lariat w/ 6.2) with the 3.73 rear end and the OEM Continental tires (755/65R18) - which are garbage tires by the way - at with about 17k miles on the clock I'm averaging about 12mpg and it doesn't vary much. Highway (75mph) is about 14 and around town is about 10. Towing is a completely different thing and depends on the tow load and your driving style.
      Love my Superduty - ordered it and got everything I wanted and nothing I didn't want. Wouldn't change a thing!

Disappointed because the reclining rear seats made all the difference comfort wise for our kids. Truck itself drove awesome. We ended up ordering a new F250. At this point the price of late model used HD trucks is at or higher than price of a custom order. Now just hoping our dealership honors the price they quoted.
