Thrustmaster T-LCM - INVERTED and MODDED! HOW TO video.

  • Some tips and tricks on inverting the Thrustmaster T-LCM sim racing pedal set.
    This could be 'inverted' by simply remapping the clutch and gas pedals in-game, but I do a hardware swap of key components in this video to permanently change it to an inverted pedal set.
    This is not necessary, and you could simply remap the clutch and gas pedals in-game, after swapping out the springs.
    (For a more detailed look on how to open the TLCM up, check out Sim Racing Garage's video.)

    I was looking around for some videos/ideas for inverting my TLCMs, I prefer having the "regular car pedal" feel. My ankles are pretty tight, so it somewhat hurts to left foot brake and keep my feet in that position, so I may have to dive into this project soon!

    One thing I would really like to do with mine is like you did, change the clutch and throttle spring to somthing stiffer. The clutch spring would be perfect for the throttle for me, but I would like the clutch to be atleast double the resistance it is now.
    I wonder if I could make a 2 stage spring set up out of the extra springs that come for the brake? Just somthing to try to mimic the feel of a real clutch where the resistance isn't linear. I'm planning on upgrading the brake with the apex spring mod anyway and also using the reds so the other springs are useless anyway.

    • @Polymer
      @Polymer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha! I thought the EXACT same thing: a DUAL RATE or DUAL PITCH SPRING would be perfect. I even tried to solder/braze two springs together, but it didn't work well. Then I looked at having them made, but it's only really affordable at a run of ~500 pieces, and I reckoned I couldn't sell the other 499 all too well.

  • @myck7021
    @myck7021 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I inverted mine last night, problem is im using my clutch as the gas, gas as clutch, the clutch spring I didn’t know was much more, idk stronger? The resistance I didn’t think was that much, but I also wonder, the more resistance on your brake the better it is usually you don’t ever want to lock up the tires, so with more weight essentially to what I use now as the gas would that leave me being more accurate on my inputs?

    Any idea how to calibrate them after theyre inverted using the T300 wheel base, spring swapped and mounted already? They work right in game, albeit not calibrated. • @0for30

    Hahah your wife seems cool as hell. Nice video. And cool looking rig. I had my throttle pedal spring shear off into two pieces while driving so I'm currently waiting on Thrustmaster to send me a new one but I will probably do what you did and order stiffer springs from McMaster. I've been using the clutch spring for my throttle pedal while I wait and it feels much better than the stock one that sheared. And btw I disagree that inverting the pedals is strictly cosmetic. The heel plate is extremely slippery which contributes to lack of consistency, at least for me. Also, the plastic creaks a fair amount (idk maybe I'm too ham handed (footed?) with my pedals) but does not seem to creak when I have no weight on the base plate so I see your inverted mod as something worth doing. Just need to find a wife to solder my wires and I should be all set. (Make more vids!)

    • @Polymer
      @Polymer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, and thanks for the kind words! Throttle pedal spring shear off? Wow, that's interesting. yep, the clutch spring for the throttle is just about right, IMO. And yeah, the pedals inverted allows me to rest my heels on my [large] wooden rig 'platform', not on the pedal set themselves. Definitely nicer inverted. 👍

    • @Polymer

      @@Walt1119 Ah, the rails: yes, I forgot - that seat came with sliders. Also, just a tidbit for anyone reading this: in my experience, a passenger seat is usually slightly cheaper than a driver's seat (seat controls on the right, vs. left, in the US)

    Really cool video. What does the blue bottle cap mod on the inside of the pedals do?

    • @Polymer
      @Polymer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean as seen at @2:19? That is part of the 'ballast' that Thrustmaster added to the T-LCM from factory; every T-LCM comes with that. It's basically a plastic container that is filled with sand. It's there to add weight to the pedal set. I think the 'benefit' is two-fold:
      1) It makes the pedals feel heavy and thus gives the impression of 'well built' as we associate 'heavy' with metal; it's made mainly of plastic so without the ballast it does feel light and 'flimsy'; and
      2) the extra weight from the ballast does prevent the pedal set from moving around, if it isn't secured somehow.
      I took the ballast out, as it's not needed in my setup.

    You should lower the monitors as much as possible, it is more immersive and realistic to look forward than to look up, you will also have the mirrors at the correct height... Complement the chair at the back, to have a more upright posture and it will be much better for your neck and back.
    I suffered back pain for that reason, I bought a good seat from a junkyard for €60 and lowered the monitors and now I play for many hours in a row, I'm 54 years old, from a certain age anything can give you a problem...
