  • Sim racing pedals come in two types: Inverted Sim Racing Pedals and Standard Sim Racing Pedals that are floor mounted. Each of these pedal types has pros and cons.
    We talk about Inverted Sim Racing Pedals in this video and how some drivers will naturally be better using Inverted sim racing pedals over the standard sim racing pedals.

    So you're looking for some brand new pedals for your simulator, but you're not sure whether you should go with a standard set of pedals like these or if you should set yourself up with something that's inverted. So in this video, we're going to actually talk about the differences between you going with an inverted setup versus the standard setup and why one might be better for you than the other.
    00:00:17:10 - 00:00:34:24
    Speaker 1
    So let's go out and dig into it. Guys, welcome back to the Channel. It is Lawrence with Sim Coaches and this is going to be cool because we've been working on our inverted mount for quite a long time. It's been about, I don't know, a year and a half that we've been working on this thing. It took us a long time really to even get to the stage that we're at, really for a couple of reasons.
    00:00:34:29 - 00:00:54:09
    Speaker 1
    We have a ton of projects that we're working on here in the shop, so that's taken a lot of time and effort away from doing some of the other projects. But number two, we've designed this thing actually a couple of different ways, and the ways that we did it in the past didn't actually work. They gave a whole lot of flex, so they moved a whole lot and it just didn't work the way that we intended to or gave you guys the amount of adjustment that we wanted to.
    00:00:54:34 - 00:01:08:32
    Speaker 1
    Hey, guys, it's Lawrence. I want to take a quick break from the video to tell you that if you have not swapped over to a good set of pedals on your simulator yet, you're leaving time out there on the track. You guys are wondering how drivers are actually able to be so fast when they're on the simulator. It's not rocket science.
    00:01:08:33 - 00:01:23:41
    Speaker 1
    They're driving on good equipment. When you drive on good equipment, you can actually feel the limit of the tires. When you're coming into the braking zone, you know where lock up is going to be when you're exiting the corner and you're getting on the throttle, you can feel when you're going to spin those tires. Guys, this isn't rocket science.
    00:01:23:42 - 00:01:38:45
    Speaker 1
    It's not difficult. All it is is just simply getting you over to a better set of equipment, something that's better and feels more realistic to what you're actually used to when you go out there and you're driving your car. So, guys, if this interest you sent me a text to my cell phone right now it's (702) 246-2295
    00:01:38:55 - 00:01:54:32
    Speaker 1
    It'll hit me right here on my personal phone and we'll figure out how we can actually get you guys set up to be faster out there on the track. All right. So show me a text and we'll make this happen. We'll get you faster out there on the track. All right. Let's get back to the video. This still right here is not a production model of our inverted mount.
    00:01:54:36 - 00:02:09:49
    Speaker 1
    This is still a tester version. But I want to show you guys where we're at because I'm pretty sure this is the design that we're going for. This is what we're going to stick with. And yeah, we're going to lock this thing down and finish machining all the parts. Now with your pedals, you really do have two different options that you can choose from.
    00:02:09:58 - 00:02:37:04
    Speaker 1
    You have the standard sets that are floor mounted. This is very common because most cockpits, it's just really easy to mount a floor mounted set of pedals onto any cockpit that's out there on on the market right now. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to mount a floor mounted set of pedals to a cockpit. So in terms of ease and use, these are really nice formats that are great and they really get us out there on the track running without all the extra things that it takes us to do it with the inverted pedals.

    Do you have your pedals inverted or standard on your simulator?

  • @catnipherb
    @catnipherb 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    In my experience....
    Standard/Floor mounted: For those with a full cockpit/sim rig. As if you're sitting in a real race car. Likely F1 cars as seating position is really low and I believe standard mounted is appropriate for that.
    Inverted pedals: Best for those with a wheel stand and using a normal chair (such as a dining room chair) instead of a car seat. Or a cockpit where your car seat is higher from the ground than your pedals.
    I use a wheel stand and a normal chair and inverted works better for me because if I press the brake pedal (especially a stiff load cell), the force/pressure will go 45 degrees downwards pushing your wheel stand into the carpet and at the same time I am less likely to push myself backwards and lift the front chair legs off the floor.
    If I use floor mounted/normal configuration, I am much more likely to push myself backwards (with the chair legs going up with you) or tilt/push my wheel stand forward instead of slowing the car down. As your foot pressure to going straight forward.
    I hate using normal as I have to straighten my legs and toe poke the pedals to drive and it feels lame. With inverted all I have to do is push the pedal with the ball of my feet and my heels hardly leave the heel plate. Much more comfortable!

    I want inverted pedals. They are so much easier for me to maintain pressure and get that muscle memory going. The floor mounted pedals make me extend my leg out in kind of an unnatural position.
    But I can't afford inverted pedals (read: my wife won't let me buy anymore equipment), so I'm stuck with my floor mounted pedals. I suppose I could always look for a way to build my own setup with the pedals I have, but I'm not confident enough in my skills to do it properly without breaking the equipment.

      I’ve had the same issue with the unusual position when applying pressure on the pedals all the way and adjusting them to 90 degrees angle to the ground fixed that issue. Also have a very short travel on the brake.

    I have bought the Inverted hydraulic pedals. I have bad feet and this helps my feet because of the leverage they have. I'm very happy with these pedals. they have taken me to another level. I can make tires last longer and out brake ppl into the corner; It also is a lifetime warranty. So text Lawrence you will be gald you did. I was.

    Its quite hard, because in immersion perspective you have cars with the inverted pedals, so the stock ones or dérivations and the open wheels and protos, also gt3 have irl floor pedals

    I need inverted pedals as the setup I'm going for also have rudder pedals for flight. This way I don't have to keep them too far apart and I just need to scooch closer to the wheel and place my feet at the racing pedals to drive while scooching away allows me to fly in comfort with the rudders. With floor mounted pedals the base gets in the way and the distance get too large for comfort.

    Maybe you can contact Fanatec and make a collaboration with them (like they will have a Fanatec Podium pedals and you will get access to their distribution network in Europe and manufacturing capabilities)?

    Why is the pivot above the foot called "inverted" when that's the normal configuration for most cars?
    Though the gas pedal quite often pivots behind the foot (and sometimes it has two pivots so it feels like it's pivoting from the heel, but the actual output is still at the top), the brakes and clutch is almost always hinged at the top.
    I think the only vehicle I've ever tried that had the pivot behind the foot for all pedals were a small forklift, but that's because you ride it almost standing up. So they were more like buttons you pressed straight down than conventional pedals.

    • @SimCoaches
      @SimCoaches  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s because what you’re thinking is ‘normal’ isn’t. You’re thinking of road cars, not race cars
      There is no ‘normal’. Just what manufacturers decide to do with their cars. Cars have both, standard floor mounted pedals and inverted top mounted.
      Check out race car pedal boxes. I think you’ll be surprised to see they’re not how you think

    I am definitely inverting. Have you guys Inverted the throttle, or is it not worth it?

    • @SimCoaches
      @SimCoaches  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, throttle is able to be flipped with no modifications. Our pedal kit allows for the throttle to be standard or inverted. Whichever is preferred! 😎

    • @AKK5I
      @AKK5I ปีที่แล้ว

      You want the throttle to be standard on the floor as that is the preferred layout since throttle is some thing that is measure in terms of a potential value, unlike the clutch or brake which is based on pressure. Thus it would be easier to modulate the throttle, especially as usually it is a lot softer than the brake or clutch pedal.
