Interestingly, Dubai size of economy is quite similar to Klang Valley/KL. Based on latest statistics, Dubai GDP is ~US$200bn while Klang Valley is also US$180+bn. My bet both these regions will double their GDP in the next 8 - 10 years. If so, Malaysia economy will hit close to US$1trillion!
I am from Czech Republic and love KL and Malaysia so much! I've been to Dubai as well and didn't like it much. It's a good place for very rich people who love luxurious lifestyle and shopping. I found the place quite boring. On the other hand KL has so many beautiful places and so much to do with kids!
I think it's pretty simple, you want to live in an Asian environment, pick KL. Btw, KL or Klang Valley with 9mil population is a multi-racial, highly modern and progressive city with 40% chinese, 40% malay, 10% indians and 10% foreigners so, it's far from so called "muslim". From KL, all major Asian city is 2 - 5 hours away, how do you beat that? Moreover, the food is amazing, the best in Asia hands down.
I Filipino American from NYC and I think KL is one of the best cities in the world period. I'd say it's better than most cities in America, Europe, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia. Here are the reasons why: 1. Good job opportunities, modern infrastructure and low cost of living 2. Diverse with Chinese, Malays, Indians, Arabs, Western expats, other types of Asians and constant tourists from all over the world 3. Some of the best food in the world, lively street food markets, amazing restaurants from every ethnicity 4. You can experience upscale clubs, bars, luxury shopping like you can get in Dubai 5. The streets are alive with people eating street food, street musicians, people dancing, shisha, coffee shops - there is an energy to KL 6. The city is absolutely stunning with beautiful architecture, jungle settings, parks, nice big, dense city that is interesting to walk around and explore 7. You can do quick weekend trips all over SE Asia with just 1-3 hour flights to Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Saigon, Bali, Manila, Cebu, Laos, Hong Kong, Taipei etc - nowhere in the world can compete with those lively cities and paradise getaways. The top 7 most visited countries on earth are all in Asia for a reason - it's the most exciting, fun place in the world with the best beaches, nightlife, buzz, outdoor activities, shopping, massive cities etc. You can never be bored in Southeast Asia.

I was brought up in Toronto and moved to the Emirates back in 2006 which is where i currently live. Ended up studying at a university in Kuala Lumpur between 2014 - 2018. Your comparison is pretty much spot on. The high quality of apartments and housing you get in Kuala Lumpur is extremely cheap compared to Dubai. For 2 - 3000 AED per month, you would be living like royalty in Malaysia where unfortunately, here in Dubai you would be lucky to find a very basic apartment for that much.

i am a student from Pakistan and have lived in Kuala Lumpur and other parts of Malaysia for a commutative 3 years or so. My two cents are that Malaysia as a whole feels quite friendly. Arabic countries feel a bit threatening, no offence to them but their way of dealing with non-arabs feels unfriendly or unhospitable for some reason. If you have USD$8000 budget to spend a month, you can live in luxury in KL, while in Dubai that USD$8000 can't even last you for 1 week for the same quality and standard of living. Local food, people, attractions are also much better in KL. Within 8 hours you can travel to several great and exciting cities in Asia & Australia at very afforable ticket fare.

So expats, pls be gentle cuz I get the persona of each countries through you! I believe apply to some other Malaysians as well ha ha😁. Yes, we are all the representative of our little countries. I came back to Kuala Lumpur after 12 years being in Dubai since I was 21 years old. Of course Dubai is amazing when you’re single and ready to mingle especially for the entertainment scene. But when it comes to lifestyle, costs and mental health as being closer to my own people after a lot of my friends being affected with job loss ever since pandemic, I could safely say Kuala Lumpur is the place for me if I wish to start a family of my own in the near future. Thanks for this video! I will show it to my hubby as he’s an Expat here too
Awesome review thankyou, KL always pops up on lists as a great place to live and I love it there, Dubai is good but the cost of living and the fact English is commonly spoken in Malaysia which is a novelty in Asia makes me side with KL.😀
Dubai is great for people who want glam and shine. Living in KL, I love how chilled and non-judgmental people are. I find Dubai painfully materialistic. Unlike Dubai, people will happily eat at roadside stalls because the food is great. Noone cares what car you drive, or what locality you live in. Plus things are much more affordable in KL.
True I'm Saudi and I agree with you 100% I prefer KL Dubai overrated yes near my area but too much Dubai nice but too much you need calculator 😂 I will travel to KL, of course, many options good budget so I can relax Thank you⭐️
Dubai is carved out from a barren desert.. you may find a street or road in Dubai but it has no history since been carved out of nothing. Yet in KL , that road or street have history, it maybe just long time ago was a path or a bullcart trail and it grew its importance and finally becomes a main road or street. It has history. KL is the only city in the world with a forest reserve smack in the middle of the city, the Bukit Nenas Forest Reserve. Take a walk in there u suddenly just feel u are in a jungle not feeling that surrounding it is a Cosmopolitan city.
Malaysia have so much varian food such satay, nasi lemak, fried rice, rojak and moreeeeee. For those visit to Malaysia I prefer u guys try Asam pedas and Daging salai masak lemak ( smoked meat) 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋
Thanks for this wonderful video n all d comparisons between Dubai n KL. Both cities have its own unique charm n also attractions. I'll definitely go for KL for its greeneries n diversity.
Have been Dubai, living in KL n being a Malaysian I definitely will pick Kuala Lumpur anytime anyday..Nighlife in Dubai of course more to offer and merrier but u must heavy bank balance, while in Malaysia even with a cup of tea n a plate of roti canai in mamak eateries while watching EPL is different experience that shldnt missed....Its more merrier as festivals... My country 🇲🇾 May god bless 🇲🇾 and of course UAE 🇦🇪
I remember walking around KL one afternoon... my weather app told me... Feels Like 50c - slightly uncomfortable. I found certain areas in KL could be cleaner and a rat jumped out on me one morning near The Pavilion mall. I really like KL for the food and general experience. I've not, as yet travelled to UAE apart from changing planes - so cannot comment on comparisons but I hate paying for expensive hotel rooms or meals.
UAE is actually very affordable for hotels. Yes, there are expensive options and certain key times of year for instance over new year's that are expensive but you can often get decent places for the $100-$150/night range. This obviously isn't as inexpensive as KL, as I recall Four Seasons in KL is the cheapest in the world along with maybe Alexandria Egypt. Meals are another matter, food in UAE is incredibly expensive. KL is definitely not the cleanest in certain areas but in other areas is great.
An interesting comparison, thanks for doing it and keeping us informed. I'd move to Dubai every time if it weren't for the cost. For me, that's the real downside. I've been to KL a few times and really enjoyed it. I really think they need to try hard to get the visa situation sorted out, try to attract nomads who are happy to pay 15% to 20% tax. Make it easy.
Yeah, the costs are a thing. You can live much cheaper if you're willing to live in areas like Deira. Of course, you can run the math of how much you need in tax savings to compensate for the extra cost of living since your costs of living won't generally scale whereas the tax savings do. So if you're making $100k/yr the cost of living vs an eastern European or South East Asian country is likely going to exceed the tax savings. But if you're making $1 million/yr. the tax savings are probably greater than the extra cost of living.
@@MichaelRosmer I agree with you I'm in a Bur Dubai and i have a studio hotel apartment for 800 gbp all inclusive with kitchen facilities and hotel services. @@MichaelRosmer spot on. That's the dilemma really. I guess that's why your videos are so popular. Where to live a 'nice/safe' life and get bang for your buck, all the time with good tax benefits and ease of visas and travel etc etc. Personally, I am in Spain, and am pretty fed up with the continual tax grabs by the government; sometimes at no notice as they money just leaves your account. Not good.

Yes Malaysia is a better option for me.. You gave a fair information about the 2 country's 👍👍👍 what you missed was the education .
I dunno Dubai, but i lived almost 9 years in KL and I have o mention the haze issue, this is brutal. It is a big big problem with the burnings of Indonesia. It kills your lungs. So when i comes to hair quality, KL is pretty bad. It is so bad that you have days that you are advised to stay home. Schools close (Singapore the same). Now, do you have great things? Yes.... people, food, tropical weather, cheap "great lifestyle".... sure :)
The haze from Indonesia is more controllable now compared to before. With environmental and international pressure they are taking steps to prevent it and it is working.

Did u just quoted drug in metaphorical imagery? My my 😌
@@jamlzs as Project Manager I would said in average 4-5 times salary higher compare with Malaysia and not to mention the exchange rate from AED to MYR will definitely make you smile every month 😉
Definitely KL way better on most of the aspects. . .
Undoubtly KL wins. You presented spot on points.
I love KL and I've met many expats here (by chance of traveling some countries, I've never really stays anywhere outside). So expats, pls be gentle cuz I get the persona of each countries through you! I believe apply to some other Malaysians as well ha ha😁. Yes, we are all the representative of our little countries. Nice vid!
🇲🇾 TRULY ASIA
I came back to Kuala Lumpur after 12 years being in Dubai since I was 21 years old. Of course Dubai is amazing when you’re single and ready to mingle especially for the entertainment scene. But when it comes to lifestyle, costs and mental health as being closer to my own people after a lot of my friends being affected with job loss ever since pandemic, I could safely say Kuala Lumpur is the place for me if I wish to start a family of my own in the near future. Thanks for this video! I will show it to my hubby as he’s an Expat here too
Kuala Lumpur forever ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Kuala Lumpur for sure. Dubai is too expensive to live in, plus the weather can be super hot in summer
Yup, the Arabs go to Malaysia during summer coz it gets really hot! They checkin service apartments in Malaysia with the families or 3 months.
Awesome review thankyou, KL always pops up on lists as a great place to live and I love it there, Dubai is good but the cost of living and the fact English is commonly spoken in Malaysia which is a novelty in Asia makes me side with KL.😀
They’re both awesome for sure!
English is commonly spoken in Dubai as well, but costs are much higher than in KL.
I dont even have to watch the video - definitely KL!
I am malaysian. Both cities have their own advantage.
That's like you didn't say anything at all. Like politicians by being politically correct.
True
I'm Saudi and I agree with you 100%
I prefer KL
Dubai overrated yes near my area but too much
Dubai nice but too much you need calculator 😂
I will travel to KL, of course, many options good budget so I can relax
Thank you⭐️
welcome to Malaysia!! (one day) 🇲🇾💖greetings and love from Malaysia 🇲🇾💖
You can live like a king in Malaysia
Additional: KL has haze from Indonesia start on Dec till February.
Dubai has sand storm.
That's correct, and important.
The haze situation is not as bad as before. Indonesia has taken steps too to control it and now it's not that prevalent.
Absolutely Kuala Lumpur is the best, multicultural Country with so much delicious food and weather.
Yup sounds like KL should step up on the visa and the ease of doing business front.
KL IS GORGEOUS OVERALL !! THERE IS NO COMPARISON BETWEEN LUSH GREEN PLACE AND A DESERT !!
Every country is unique in itself.
True that :)
True, KL is uniquely good, Dubai is uniquely boring.
What a politically correct statement. You didn't say anything. Just like a politician
Kuala Lumpur is the Heart of ASIAN 🎉❤
Love these videos
Thank you, appreciate the support!

I used to live in Dubai for 10 years and in KL for 22 years.. still pro & contra out of both cities ! 🇦🇪💙🇲🇾
Always kl is the best..
Malaysia have so much varian food such satay, nasi lemak, fried rice, rojak and moreeeeee. For those visit to Malaysia I prefer u guys try Asam pedas and Daging salai masak lemak ( smoked meat) 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋
KL has very cheap flights thru Air Asia to so many destinations, that is also a big advantage.
yeah....bro, i would like to say, u may get everything in KL inclusive of Villa,,,with wage 3k USD
Thanks for this wonderful video n all d comparisons between Dubai n KL. Both cities have its own unique charm n also attractions. I'll definitely go for KL for its greeneries n diversity.
For those who r on budget conscious n constraints, KL is d big winner, in every sense n aspect.
It seemed that many comments favors KL.
Thank you for your honest comparison 👍👍👍
You're welcome, always my pleasure.

I love the breeze after rain in malaysia. Feel like eating some nice. Love the smell after rain 🌧️
@@Tawanpawatt yes, it feels like a reset and fresh. And the thunderstorm is quite soothing for me
Yeah, rats and cockroaches are a common sight in quite a lot of KL neighbourhoods, especially at night in the commercial areas.
i cannot comment or make any comparisons between dubai and malaysia coz i never been in dubai before, so i don't know yet overall result
Holy words mate
Long story but I'm here by default and I've been researching im funding many affordable options on a month to month contract which to me is perfect. I lived in kl which is a great city and very affordable accomdation options. For lifestyle I would choose Dubai with experience on both
@@shalavie777, are you able to share the name of your accommodation in Dubai? I'd be happy to pay £1,000 every month if I am in Dubai 6 months. It's when people quote £3K - £4K that I can't make the maths work.
Not good.
Kuala Lumpur the best and amazing food and a unique and harmonious variety of cultures
Im from Malaysia and I used to travel to Dubai... i love the Dubai weather only in December till March.. hahahah... other than this month too hot for me.. abt Dubai i love their facilities like metro, wifi all place, mall... jam in Dubai not really jammed like in Malaysia.. night life at Dubai so good... its windy... i love their beach, mall, food, sky building... but for me food in Dubai more expensive than Malaysia... hehehe... one plate about 25 dirham... if in Malaysia 5-7 ringgit can get 1 meal.. btw both i love...
Malaysia is a beautiful country, minus the jokers in parliament 🤡
Great video. Agree. Like both - a lot. But it’s too late for DXB unless you’re filthy rich.
You left out 1 key thing - travel. KL is close to many places in under 90 minutes. SIN, BKK, Ho Chi Minh City. DXB - not so much.
If you want a balance life of city but greenery, mountain, beautiful islands, waterfall,,historical place, affordable in everything in term of food, groceries, living cost, shopping and all, with kind people, welcome to Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia.
KL offer many with much cheaper cost..even cheaper than Bangkok

Of Course Kuala Lumpur ! Malaysia is the best country in Asia.
I live in Uae & my homecountry is Malaysia. i agree most of your point and i think you got good observation. 🤙
Apartment prices are great in KL. You are getting great apartments for so little...for 2000-2500€ per sqm you are getting brand new apartment in center of city center with all kind of things like pool, gym, security...
Kl is perfect for all type of people
Ofc,Kuala lumpur
The 1st Asian country to build the the tallest twin tower building in the world is Malaysia and now all the tallest building in the world are in Asia..
BOTH COUNTRY ARE GOOD AT THEIR OWN BEST ... KUALA LUMPUR IS THE BEST AND DUBAI IS THE BEST 👍🙂
KL all day long!
As Malaysian, Dubai will always best places to travel but hardly to lived,,,
I'd love to live in Dubai. But love to live in KL too.
KL and i am Arab.
KL all the way. No contest.
Well I lived in UAE for 25 years of my life kids were born n bout up educated in UAE. Got hit during the recession we had to move out mainly because of the education of my children .we moved to Malaysia 2 years back must say far better university in Malaysia n the education stands in Malaysia is better n the price's fees 70/ sent cheaper than UAE. International school n university's. My children school in UAE was westgreen international school sharjah n ajman academy in ajman. Now when I look back it was vvv expensive with poor standeds. Yes Malaysia is a better option for me.. You gave a fair information about the 2 country's 👍👍👍 what you missed was the education .
Pakistani taxi driver in Abu Dhabi drive very fast like speedy gon za les
Love my country🇲🇾❤️✨
of course I chose KL because I was born in KL and grew up there😉
untungla org KL 😅
I see KL as Doha both overshadowed by popularity of neighbouring cities.
Yes.... people, food, tropical weather, cheap "great lifestyle".... sure :)
Good point you mentioned. Thanks
This is the first time I ever heard of anyone complain about "hair" quality regarding a city. 😂 kidding
Hair
maybe you should try Vidal Sassoon for the "hair" quality.
The haze from Indonesia is more controllable now compared to before. With environmental and international pressure they are taking steps to prevent it and it is working.
ur underated,love the videos🔥
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying our content.

KL for sure, Dubai is a concrete jungle, artificial, the place is like a fun fair, not real.
Malaysia will be a heaven if the public safety and and cleanliness can be improved. In addition, most cities are not very pedestrian and cyclists friendly.
Yesss...Kuala Lumpur weather is better than dubai
Cameron Highlands, Genting Highlands. Kundasang etc.. 12°C - 19°C
Kuala lumpur is organic. Real life experience.
Everybody are welcome to Malaysia
