I've officially become a UAE resident last spring, and in the fall I finally made a decision to relocate to Dubai.
Moving somewhere new is never an easy process, and there are many things to learn along the way. Today I'll be sharing my experience and some tips that will come super useful once you move to Dubai (or anywhere else in the UAE).
We'll be talking about opening a bank account, setting up a lease agreement, and an important EJARI contract. We'll be talking about transportation (your own car, public transit, and apps like Uber and Careem).
After that, we'll be covering utilities and other stuff that you'll be paying once you have an apartment here.
In the end, we'll talk about many different apps that will make your life easier and simpler. Food delivery services, grocery delivery, apps for cleaning services, etc etc.
This video will be useful to everyone who is just moving to Dubai and needs a little help to get started.
Who are we and what do we do?
We are Offshore Citizen team. We help people become global: get a second passport, set up a second residency, pay less taxes, do banking abroad, etc.
We have lots of interesting articles on different topics, we have relevant information up to date.

Excellent tips, Michael. South Korea is very similar to the UAE in terms of operating "inside the box." Renting an apartment is unique as well: you can either choose monthly rent payment (with a security deposit) or lump-sum deposit (with no monthly rent payment), which you get back in full at the end of the standard 2-year contract. Always interesting how things are done differently around the world.

Great Video & Tips! I Recently Just Moved To Dubai In January.
What I Have To Say About Banking: Emirates NBD Actually Helped Me With An Account Without Having The Housing Certificate. Being That I Didn’t Know Anything About This, I Was Moving Between Airbnbs While Waiting On My Residency To Be Approved For A Month. So, I Didn’t Have This.
I Opened My Bank Account A Couple Of Days After I Signed My Apartment Lease. They Just Asked For My Visa (Remote Work Visa), My Ejari, 3 Months Salary Proof, Passport, And Proof Of Business Ownership.
I Advice To Ask To Speak To A Financial Advisor When Going To Open The Account! Because I Was Getting Frustrated & Almost Turned Away To Head Back Home Because The Check-In Person Insisted I Needed A Housing Certificate & Would Not Check Me In. I Think He Started To Get Annoyed On How Persistent I Was To Sit With An Advisor & Just Checked Me In Reluctantly 😂

We love making content on Dubai, as Michael lives there and can give first hand advice. It can get tricky to give this type of tips for cities we've not lived in ourselves and we care about providing reliable information.
We do however, make comparison videos based on our visits to different cities. We can do one of those for your suggestions :)

Hi I wanted to ask about the tip about booking a hotel for 10 days to get an address proof. I tried to call several hotels in Dubai and the manager or staff don’t really know anything about it. It would be helpful to know if you had a recommendation. The only letter they would issue would be a receipt of my stay when I checked out. Do you have more info on this? Thanks

UAE has no personal taxes so only foreign dividend income would trigger tax, capital gains not taxed on shares.

@@OffshoreCitizen Yes I am. Very different to NZ. Not happy with the lack of privacy - CCTV everywhere and everything linked to the EID so the government knows everything about you. The fingerprinting for the EID was confronting as in NZ you are only finger printed if you go to prison so I felt like a criminal. I am a strong libertarian. But the west are going down the drain. Love the safety I feel here but not keen on the number of Indians here who do not assimilate or follow simple rules of courtesy - very pushy, rude and arrogant people. Also find it a dirty city with all of those adverts on the footpath for women of ill repute and their services. My question: How do these women get into the country to stay as they certainly dont have degrees or add any value to society ?
