    Another great review. While slightly outside the scope of what you were looking at, Photomator + Pixelmator is a very powerful combo.

      Certainly so! Many other considerations i did leave out for simplicity.

    I would never pay a subscription price for any editor...

      Totally understand. I would only pay if I could get out of a subscription at any time.

    Is the raw processing as good as Lightroom? I put both side by side and can’t tell.. the highlights feature seems really underwhelming on Photomator compared to Lightroom, but then it has an added brightness slider that when adjusted with highlights gets it close to Lightroom’s.

      While photomator's process is very good Lightroom's processing is better for certain reasons . You can check my video on this (though the comparison is pixelmator pro the performance is the same as photomator) th-cam.com/video/RbGaiSbVgkU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6GyLjd6XamoPSvIq

    I paid £9,99 for a years Photomator in an offer. You didn't cover that Photomator has a selective clarity option to choose where clarity goes rather than global, also IMHO the sharpening in Neo albeit "stronger" looked unnatural & way over cooked? Does Neo support LUT's? Photomator does in .cube format - personally I feel Neo does lots of things, but none of them particularly well.

      Yes, Photomator, if both are on discount, will be cheaper than Luminar. Don't know how long this pricing is going to last from Luminar. With regards to sharpening, I did overcook it to make the effect clearer for the video. You can dial it down. I do agree that Photomator's implementation particularly its masks is far more polished and I should have put LUTS in as a feature that Photomator has but not Luminar. I'll remember that for subsequent reviews! 😊

    I am using Photomator on an iPad because I like a simple solution for travelling light. I wouldn’t understand why you would use it on a Mac despite its nice user interface. Capture One is so far more advanced in all the categories you tested that I wouldn’t see a reason. The same would probably be true for LR, but I stopped using Adobe products and don’t have experience with the current products. I understand the price and value discussion. But that always irritates me. How much are we paying for our cameras?

      "I understand the price and value discussion. But that always irritates me. How much are we paying for our cameras?" Good point. I guess if you are regularly upgrading, paying thousands of dollars on equipment than saving on photo editing software doesn't move the needle😀. However there are folks who might not have that luxury so price matters! Your point-of-view to edit on iPad is interesting because I personally prefer editing on a PC.

    I got both but never seen the Masking so bad on the Luminar Neo 😅… But i Love my Photomator. Only use Neo/ Capture one for Skin tones. Until Photomator got is perfect! I just love Photomator and Pixelmator Pro ..

      Thanks for the feedback. Always nice to hear what people are using .
      Luminar's maskiing was ahead of its time when it got released, but others have caught up.
      Hope they can improve it!

    What would you recommend for the ipad Photo Mator or Luminar

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would go with Photomator if you need masking as Luminar has none. However, Luminar if you don't do local adjustments only global, or want sky replacement, and its enhancement tools i.e. Enhance AI, Structure AI. Hope that helps!

    The big deficit of Photomator is no EXIF - keywording. That's a real issue. On the other hand, Photos Workbench from Houdah Software has EXIF - keywording.

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes its entire photo management feature set is very sparse. Never tried Photos Workbench are you using it yourself?

      @@takebetterphotos8132 Yes, I purchased a license a few years ago because I was and still enjoy HoudahSpot (file finding app). I gave it a try and immediately liked the ability to do EXIF-keywording. The Photos Workbench does not have the editing capabilities that Photomator has, but then again, I'm still confused by the closeness of both Pixelmator Pro and Photomator. As for EXIF... I suggest trying out Photos Workbench. It's so much easier than trying to add multiple keywords in Apple Photos.

    I have Pixelmator Pro, Photomator and Luminar Neo. They all have their positive points. Layers and compositing are best done in Pixelmatior Pro. Photomator is great for quick edits and Luminar Neo offers the most creative tools.
    Beacause of the pricing I think many viewers of this channel probably own all 3 apps. Maybe you could do a tutorial about how to use them together to get superior results.
