as someone who lives in the inner-west of Sydney, i often ride north to Mt White, Wisemans Ferry, etc, but then finish the ride at Hornsby and catch the train back home. It's a fast, air-conditioned train ride where you can drink a coffee or slurpee while chatting with mates post ride. Riding north early in the morning is fine as the roads are quiet, but avoiding the return ride through the busy suburbs with all the mid to late morning traffic on weekends is great and feels a lot safer.

Learned from a pro mechanic how to prep a tire with a tire lever prior to trying to seat tubeless tire. I do this before injecting sealant through valve core. Push one side of tire bead out of valley to the opposite edge of rim then tool the other side all the way around the wheel with your lever. CO2 can compromise your sealant. Love your show, keep up the good work fellas!

The Propel is an awesome bike. And people just seem to under estimate Giant. The bikes are fast. Road, Gravel, CX you name it. They are up there with the best and price is better than all with packages you can get. Tubeless syringes only work with sealant that has NO Fibers. I use the Stans race sealant and SILCA sealant and you have to pour in wheels. You cannot use a syringe.

Great discussion on the tubeless issues I've also experienced.
One thing is on the Silca sealant, you can't put that thru the stem b/c of the fibers - it says so on the package. But you can on the refill sealant. That could be part of the issue.
Second thing is it's really hard to get the rim tape on properly and I think a big place it leaks is where the stem comes thru. I think when you poke the hole, the cut into the tape can spread too far. I found the silca sealant does a good job sealing around the hole.
3rd is I don't have a plug kit - that plus a hand pump means you could be able to make it back from wherever.

The Vuelta isn't perfect but this idea that it is a bad race is just an overblown meme.
Evenepoel, Roglic, Vingegaard, Ayuso, Almeida, Mas... I mean, the depth and quality of top tier GC riders here is better than any grand tour in recent years. The GC couldn't be more finely poised right now. Plus, there are epic 4500 m D+ days in the Pyrenees coming up (Tourmalet finish tomorrow), and the Angliru next week. And yet, it's still a possibility that Sepp Kuss could win the thing, despite nearly every ace not named Pogacar being here.
It's bonkers and it's Vuelta and I hope the next week lives up to the hype, whatever happens. It's not a Tour re-run, it's something else. Accept diversity.

I think the AI training will gradually be more and more advanced and also more accurate for every previous input you've made.
I imagine in 20-30 years that you will feed it your food, lactate levels, sleep, heart rate, the map course, wind forecast and kinds of stuff and it will give you range that you should be within (let's say watts at 90 cadence) on the fly. And maybe it will say "on Friday is your optimal rest day, on Thursday you would benefit the most of a 98.4km ride at X course".
It may seem unrealistic and futuristic but the amount of money poured into this at the moment within so many fields I expect it to develop very quickly. Just look at smartphones and computers in general, it's basically ancient within 5 years.

20 years? Make that 5. What a human coach does is follow a decision tree, overlaying things like scheduling. Most of this can actually be coded, quite easily, today. Most cyclists and coaches aren't exactly rocket scientists either so it's not like whatever they do is going to be hard to replicate. With a team focused on it you can probably get an "AI" coach doing at least 90pc of the same work as a really good human, in a matter of weeks. Especially if you can make the rider do test efforts regularly to validate progress. The science behind training is actually very simple, ultimately. You have a few types of sessions, the volume of each is dictated by very few elements (basically a sliding scale off periodization, overall load tolerance...).

The problem with AI coaching is that people are not honest enough or not inputting accurate data. If you are not honest, don't use consistent data protocols, or simply don't understand where your fatigue/effort levels were, it is not going to be able to properly compensate and "learn". An "in person" coach has the ability to motivate and pick up on subtleties that a computer program cannot. We are not robots. All that said, AI will absolutely be a good option for over 75% of athletes using it and it will be much cheaper. Those looking for the most gains will be using a coach that embraces the AI like Jesse mentioned toward the end. Great show boys!

There is a bit of an adrenaline rush for riding in traffic, at least for me, which can keep the HR up a bit, but it's gotten so dangerous to ride in traffic and people get so angry around here at cyclists.

Biggest Vuelta highlight has to be Tony Martin’s full day solo breakaway that was only caught 50m from the finish. And mate living in Europe, Spain is one of the first destinations for cycling trips (Mallorca, Girona, Pyrenees, Canary Islands in winter), those roads mean a lot. Can’t imagine it meaning much elsewhere. Organisation aside, either scrap the third grand tour or keep it in Spain I reckon

Enjoying this channel guys, congrats on lifting the style too. You've kept the casual chat between mates but dropped the little things that grated, eg saying 'like' too much. More polished now without seeming like GCN2. Also enjoyed the few b roll parts, some more would be good. And glad to see some disagreement in there too, shows you are keeping faithful to yourselves. Would really like to see Chris do a comparison in his own way between the 'nero bike' and the Chapter 2.

Peak torque mentioned this but if you don’t like bike prices - buying a frame and parts and building it yourself is usually much much cheaper and allows you more choice than buying a stock bike. Building a bike isn’t that difficult and there’s a video on TH-cam everything you need.

Tubeless tires should go on with a floor pump. If they don't then the tire is to large for that rim. It is recommended to add a couple extra layers of rim tape until it will seal with a floor pump. Tape does of course need to be appropriately wide enough for the internal rim width. If it goes on with a floor pump there is less risk of it blowing of because it means it is tight enough.
There is a Rene Herse post on how to set up tubeless tires that I found very helpful. All my tubeless tires were seating with a regular floor pump.

Know what Jesse means re. tubeless faff. But seriously. Specific tl wheelset no holes in rim-bed+ Gp5000str +floor pump equals happiness. Still amazes me my tyre goes on straight away with just a floor pump after finally getting the str's. Think is just the tyres as have needed a booster pump with others . Also sometimes if your "no holes rim" loses air usually its losing air around the valve hole. Had that issue at first with the "universal" valve I first got for my wheels as had to jam them on super tight to fix problem. Was doing my head in at 1st until I found the problem.

I’ve always despised driving to a ride. Keep in mind that it’s customary in my part of the world for rides to start at 6:00am, so driving more than 30min means getting out of bed before 5:00am. It has to be a REALLY enticing route.

Regarding tubeless, next time you have a tyre deflating overnight, check the sidewalls in a few inches of water, it’s usually where they leak and generally sealant won’t work here.

Yeahh... I purchased disc brake bike recently and it seems awful that nobody tells hub's rotor spacing is different among brands.
So if you want to swap wheel to have less issue, you need to purchase the same hub wheels (or maybe same hub brand at least)
Actually there is some very thin rotor spacer for aligning the rotor spacing, so you may use it.

I check around probably every week or so for a new bike 4-7k€ budget and after 10-20 minutes of browsing I always arrive at the conclusion that it's just not worth it. Dropping that kind of money on an 8kg bike just rubs me the wrong way. On the off chance that I find something that I can somewhat get behind it's so beyond out of stock that I just give up entirely. Framesets are insanely overpriced and most of the faff I can do without. Wish I would've bought the old canyon ultimate with ultegra rim and mechanical shifting. lower 7kgs stock and 2,7k if I remember correctly. For now I'm holding out until the market stabilises again and the decent mid range bike makes a come back. As a european I really got my eyes on Decathlon though. They're about to enter the WT with AG2R and I look forward to their upcoming line up. Maybe that will make me bite the bullet but let's see.

I think the same all the time Jesse when I see these nice new shiny bikes on the bunch rides, and think to myself I’m loosing speed and watts here have a look online out of curiosity and the reality hits that there 15-20k and don’t come with components that suit my fit. There heavier than the bike I’m riding, harder to work on and will depreciate rapidly. I think the disc bikes are getting better every year and are not too far off selling it to me but at the moment it’s just not there. Save yourself 15k and keep the bike you are on. Spend it on a holiday instead! Proving your riding good tyres, saddle , drivetrain and bars there is little in it. Buy yourselves a compressor from bunnings. I picked one up for about $180 a couple years back and it makes setting up tubeless tyres easy.
