JL, I am a retired owner/operator of a hot dog cart in east Tennessee Knoxville area and set up at the University of Tennessee and did all homemade chili, cheese sauces, red onion sauces etc. I had a huge following for 10 years and sold over 200 Nathan's hot dogs along with huge baked potaotes. And did this at lunch time in less than 3 hours day after day. I miss it so much and wish I could get out there and do it again, I loved the cooking and loved my people 🥲. So it brings me great joy to watch you do your videos at these hot dog trucks and stands etc. Thank you sir.

I live next to JJ's hot dogs. I love that hot truck. THE BEST HOT DOG TRUCK AROUND. R.I.P to the owner who recently pass away. My condolences to his family and may his soul rest in heaven with the angels 🙏🏻🕊️🙏🏻 Tony's is another good hot dog truck to though. JJ's and Tony's are very good 🌭🌭🌭

I will be traveling to my hometown E. Orange, NJ this weekend (I live in NC) for a short vacay and my first stop is to get a hotdog with mustard and sauerkraut! I buy mine from a hotdog truck at the other side of Branch Brook Park by Heller Parkway in Newark.
I used to go to that one as well🙌🏽 the trucks name is "Chris's Red Hots"...their chili/cheese/kraut was amazing
Now I’ve got to go to Johnny and Hanges in Fair Lawn, formerly of Paterson N.J. Not same as the dilapidated building but time is making it as good as it ever was!

I tried making a dirty water dog at home once using vinegar,cumin,nutmeg something was still missing though. They say that the dogs should cook and sit in the water for 1 hour before serving. I could not wait for that amount of time. I am sure there is something else that needs to be added to the water. Oh well back to the drawing board. All I would need after having Tony's Hot Dogs is a nice cold grape C&C.

My favorite spot I used to go there with my dad back then I used to lived 7th Avenue Project ( Columbus Project ) born n Raise in Newark aka Brick City ... get that Italian Hotdog there as well

Nathans beef dog fried in olive oil, always score the dog w knife.. almost like a Ripper dog, then i mix mustard, pepperchini and onion up w cracked pepper..Nice and spicey, fried dog on a brioche hot dog roll , steam bun in microwave w wet papertowel, roll the doggs up in them...BANGINNNNNNNNNN

If you're into jamcian food try THE PIT STOP on central Ave and get the jerk pork with hella barbecue sauce, a lil veggie Mac, and rice and peas and the goat soup is good as well.

Newark spots you need to go: burger walla- get there house burger and lamb burger
The yard- get the shrimp burger, oxtail burger and try the hotdog.
Krugs tavern - best beef burger anywhere
Hamburgao - Brazilian hamburgers. Try the house burger.
Soup season is coming so try Heaven's Delite or the soup factory.

Tony's seem more like a traditional hotdog, like what I would get in my hometown NYC, and I think that JJs is a little more exotic in their approach regarding toppings.

Tony's HANDS DOWN. That kid working JJ's does not have all the fixins like sweet onions, for example. When I asked him about it he pretty much said he wasn't gonna have it anymore. His lackadaisical attitude will cost him.
I have a love/hate thing about your channel. im originally from south jersey but as a driver I was all over the tri-state + area, DC to NYC, Atl City to Harrisburg and LOVED the food choices from NYC dirty water dogs to street corner pretzels, Baltimore pit beef and crabcakes etc etc .. I cant get a good dirty water dog here in florida unless i make my own. and honestly I usually flat top them. the spicy kraut and onions sounds like something I need to create.. Mt Olive which is a SE condiment manufacturer recently came out with pickled sweet vidalia onions that are GREAT on a hot dog especially when combined with a jalapeno relish for some sweet and heat

You have to try the Dominican restaurants in north Newark there are so many to try from & please try fat cactus in New Brunswick! There are so many different restaurants in south jersey

you should also try Tommy's Italian Sausage & Hot Dogs in Elizebeth, NJ! but I'd go on an empty stomach because the Italian dogs are big if you get them loaded with works and potatoes.
When you get a chance you should check out La Tierra del Chicharron on G & Wyoming in Philly. We love the canoa it’s sweet and savory and the carne frita is soooo good! I like to squeeze lime on it and throw some hot sauce on it! Those are my faves. :)
