My lips were falling off looking at that great food!!! I don't live in NYC anymore, but I fly there often and I have the cab driver stop the minute he reaches Manhattan for my Sabrett dogs. This gentleman, Nick, is a joy. He's what makes NY great. A great smile and wonderful customer service. I wish him everything good in life !!
👋 Hi! I used to work at McDonald's on the corner there! I bought from him a few times i remember. Nice seeing him on TH-cam. Will stop by next time when i go to Stop n Shop.❤ 🌭
As a fellow food business owner. It's great to see someone not let all the rules bs get to them and still be positive. Hope he stays busy. Good luck. Great video 🌭
I remember him on main street, used to get Chicken skewers all the time. Never knew he did hotdogs. MTA workers and locals seems to like him as well. Really nice guy, good thing he has his own spot now and still running the business. 😊
Man! The size of that hot sausage!! And for $3.50!!?? Again, i don't see how NYC hot doggers do it, but more power to them!! I agree with others Chris, that had to be the best looking yet. Going to re-watch just to see it again. Much love to Nick!!!!! ❤️🇺🇸💪🌭
This man is a Legend! Held the spot by the church for years! Flushing High School days! Thank you for sharing this, I now know where he moved to, truly made my day!
Thanks Chris. That is a great value and they looked good. I was a hot dog vendor for 10 years before I retired and loved it. I miss it a lot. Sold over 200 dogs and 30 huge baked potatoes a day with a menu of 15 of my individual dog creations. My best to Nick and I hope the good people in that area show Nick some Love. Take care Chris.
Last comment to you was to support the real hot dog vendor in your local plaza and not the monopolized hot dogs stands in the city that don’t care about the products and you did it my man. This is great to see I will make sure I make my visit to this young man’s stand and get me everything on the menu. Great food and people. Awesome video!
Great Great!!! a true American! Reminds me of everything I miss of Queens and the people! Live in Knoxville TN now for many years but I come up to visit my folks. If I am in the neighborhood I will stop with my family! Thank you Nick!
Cool video. The vibe around that cart is a good one. New Yorkers can be so cool. Maybe not so cool at times too maybe. 😆✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼 my grandpa is from Brooklyn. Who cares right
My guys, let me tell you, when you I say this man and the dude across the church fed generations of kids with that cart, I'm speaking generations. I'm so happy to see them at it again. Time to go get a taste of my childhood.
Hi Chris 🙋🏾 - Greetings from Kansas City ( Home of the back to back Super Bowl Champions - Kansas City Chiefs!) Your channel (hot dog venues in NYC) popped onto my TH-cam; probably because I'm always chasing a variety of recipes and because I'm a "Foodie" at heart! 😂. Just wanted you to know I "Love" your hot dog cart adventure in The Big Apple. I've not been to NYC since the early 80's but following you around town via TH-cam makes me so happy and I enjoy listening to your "Queens" accent. I wish you well! 👍🏾😃
I live in a small town in Minnesota and have only been to New York once--back in 1999 for a high school choir trip. I remember getting a dirty water dog at night right before we touristed up The Empire State Building. These days we have a few BBQ, taco trucks and Ice cream trucks in our home-town, but I WISH we had something like Nicks stand! I can't remember the name of the vendor we got dogs from but he was Greek and it was so similar to this! They were so good and made the experience of being a kid in "The Big Apple," complete. Thank you Chris for your content, I love watching these videos and hearing your and the vendors stories!
Where at in Minn? We run a dirty water hotdog trailer in the metro. I grew up outside Chicago on those and I get my dogs from Chicago still because there's nothing like them in Minn.
Food looks great. Personable fellow with years of experience. I hope everyone that shops at the supermarket there stood by and buys a kabob or dog. Great review.
It’s funny I just seen those videos in my feed. I was just there getting a souvlaki on Saturday this man is a rare breed today. Always have a positive conversation with him. Yasou Niko!!!!
As a New Yorker that’s a good hot dog right there. Always make sure you get a warm steamed bun like how it’s done here. That’s the proper way to get an nyc dog.
I used to eat there since i was 14 im 36 now. I came back after few years i didnt see him. Good to know he just relocated im going to def make a trip there.
ill be heading over there ASAP. Cant wait. I went to Nick back in late 80's as a kid to get dogs. All this time now i know where the OG Hot dog guys went.
I used to go to this gentleman when he was In Flushing. I had no idea where he went, after I saw this video i immediately visited the dude. Everything was delicious. The prices you had up on the video were incorrect though.
Oh snap! I used to grab hot dogs and shiskabob from this dude all the time. There was him and another dude on the next block and the other dude didnt compare. Also seeing whitestone shopping center has completely changed but whitestone lanes seems to be immortal haha. Such a blast from past! Thanks for the awesome video
That was awesome, and it made me so hungry for one of those hot sausages. Man, that looked good! It's so great that Nick's customers followed him to his new location and he's able to thrive. Best of luck to Nick and his family. Thanks for bringing this, Chris!
Man I used to get kabobs from him all the time coming home from school on main st. I've since moved to NJ but will definitely be paying you a visit. Talk about memories!
I have lived in Flushing, for many years. I used to get the hot dogs and chicken kabobs. He used to have a couple of folding stools for his customers’ on Main & 39th Avenue. It took me some time to find Nick, but I stop by a couple of times per month. It’s easy to find him, since all you have to do is get off at the Linden Place exit of the Whitestone Expressway.
This was so cool ! Yes, a blast from the past for you. So neat that you remembered Nick and his cart from way back. That dog was a 10 and the Slovakia looked fabulous ! Being from Queens maybe you can relate ..... my wife's favorite show is " The king of Queens ".
I lived in Flushing through my teenage years till my late twenties and ALWAYS GOUGHED DOWN THOSE SABRETTS AND SOUVLAKIS ON THE STICK. GOD DO I MISS THOSE,! So good to see a man like Nick still keeping up the good stuff. I don't live in Flushing anymore since it changed to Floo-shing. You know what I mean. God bless you Nick, make sure you take that cart to Heaven, I'm going to be looking for you on a cloud!😅
I wasn't sure there were hot dog vendor carts in NYC still. Thought it might have all gotten driven away. I moved out of NYC back in 1988. We lived in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan, Jackson Heights and Astoria in Queens and I lived one year in Morris Park in the Bronx. Used to love getting a hot dog or soft pretzel this way. Sit on a corner or bench and commence the fine dining experience. Warms my heart that you went back and it was still like it was. I miss old NYC from the 1970s and 80s.
I Think its great that we got to meet hard working people and I love good hotdogs. They reminisce its great. For the son who requested a visit to his Dads Hotdog stand Im sure the family was excited. Just a nice experience.
I used to live in Flushing in the mid 90s and took the train all the way to college in Brooklyn. I always stopped by Nick at the church corner for some great souvlakis! I have been traveling all over the place, but I ended up back in Flushing and one of the first things I did was to go get a souvlaki from Nick. He was still there at the church corner but shortly after that, a few years ago, the city had him kicked out of his iconic spot. I was so upset and I'm still kind of upset that they did this to Nick, but he's a hard worker and still going strong about a mile away by Stop & Shop. I had no idea he was moved there until I did an internet search and found an article someone wrote asking where he was, and someone said he was by College Point at the Stop & Shop. The next day, I went there immediately and got another great taste of his Souvlakis! I put Nick in Google Maps with a few pictures, and it had a few good reviews. The Google Maps page was taken down for some reason, but then re-opened again. I thought Nick was gone when the page went down, but he's still around and I'm so happy to still enjoy his food every once in a while.
Wow - memories (1990's). His stand was a MUST-STOP on the way home from school or shopping Main Street. Good hotdogs and those beef shish kebabs with the sauce and bread was IT... Good to see he's still in business. Remember him being a cool respectful guy; we’d always show him the same respect. Thinking about those kebabs now.. going to head out that way with the family.
Nice stop! Great to see this nice gentleman working hard & keeping a great attitude! Here in Miami Lakes, I have the Sabrett's dogs, mustard & sauteed onions! Abondanza!
I took a road trip back to my old hood 7 years ago because my son asked, "where did you grow up and what was it like" so, we packed up and drove 7 hrs the next day. Everything was gone, different and unrecognized. Then he said he was hungry and asked where I used to eat at so, expecting it to be long gone but, Super Subs in North Miami was still there. I started smiling. My wife and I ate there in jr & sr high. Sadly she passed but I had our son and we walked inside. I was absolutely blown away the same guy and his wife still owned it. They didn't let school kids inside anymore because it isn't 1984 any longer. After talking to the owner for a few minutes he asked if we were hungry and what my son wanted. Peanut(my sons nickname) said "same as me" and before I could say 1 word, he started cooking 2 steak n onions with provolone, mayo, lettuce and pickles and I was in shock. I graduated in 1985 then joined the Marines and left and hadn't seen that guy in all those years. Actually made me emotional. I asked him how he could possibly remember me and he said "I remember you were a quiet kid." Finding an old spot, eating, drinking, smelling, all the old memories come flooding in. It's good you found Nick. You mean alot to him. Small guy, hard working, neighborhood man, still feeding his people. What a great email from his son...
Yes!! In Main Street, there were two vendors on each side of the street. One was run by an older guy and one by an younger guy. I use to go there all the time as a kid back in mid 2000s.
@Dynomite611 he was on the north side of the church and across the street was a woman's clothing store (Joyce Leslie?) Man you're bringing back memories 😀
@@NYCHotDogStands yesssss! I was by there the other day. It’s closed and now it’s a chase bank. Those were some good times, place was always packed with people hanging out.
I LOVE THAT. I love seeing the good ol real beef sausages and hot dogs served from clean, well kept stands. I love to see guys like these successfully making it in New York.
Dominick 's Woodhaven Blvd St. Johns Cemetery, another classic hot dog stand we grew up with. Not sure if it is still there, the classics are hard to find
we went there all the time when we lived in Flushing and after We would go out of our way to get to Nicks. He was next to the church on main street.. awesome to see he's still around
Next time I go there I stop by Nick's! My first date with my wife was at the old pinball place that was at the set of stores that has Wendy's at one end. The pinball place was at the other end. That was 43 years ago!
Amazing video, this was one of my favorites stop coming from school, his dad was the pillar of this street stand miss them dearly, whenever in flushing NY, is a must stop.they always remember their customers, at time if they saw me and I didn't stop, they ask why, I did not stop, and I will say I did not have any money, they game food for free, twice.May God bless them. Thank you for the video.
OMG I went down to Nicks today and it was amazing, best hot sausage in town, best hot dog in town! I got there and there was a group of people around the Cart, everyone was ordering the chicken and it smelled great! I went with a hot sausage first and it was great. Then I got a hotdog and it was delicious too. The buns were so soft, everything was perfect! Great prices too! Nick was such a nice guy, while he was talking to me people walking by would stop to say hi to him. I had such a great experience and will be back to try the chicken. I can tell Nick and his brother are staples of NYC and how much they mean to the local community. Thanks for everything Nick and Chris!
I wish i could eat that hot dog. Some times it's easy to forget that a good hot dog isn't just kids food/party food. A good hot dog is something everyone can enjoy
Dude, I remember this man too growing up in flushing I used to get the shish kabob. Ever since a kid I remember going to his hot dog stand by where the buses line up now. And blocked it off because of the buses and traffic. Glad this man is well. Gonna stop by next week for sure❤
There's still plenty of greek owned diner's in queens, including in whitestone... Whitestone diner, Lollipop Diner, then up Francis Lewis blvd at northern Blvd you have North shore diner and the greek gyro spot across the street, plus many others. Downtown flushing not so much but it was never known for diners in general. Its been chinese and Korean since I was a kid but I do remember how main street flushing was in the 1970s before it all converted over.
I think some of the ones you mentioned have closed. The one on Northern Blvd (Bayside Diner) and I think the other one on Northern Blvd was sold to non-Greek's.
@@NYCHotDogStands probably right, I have lived in Kew gardens/Richmond hill area for the past 10 years so I haven't been to diners in flushing/Bayside since then. I'm close by 2 other Greek diners: Classic diner at leferts & Jamaica, and Atlantic diner at Atlantic Ave & 112th street. 👍
Nick's is the best. Been going there since I was a teenager traveling through flushing to get to school, same as you. His spot near Saint Georges was legendary and I'm happy to see he's still keeping it going in "pathmark" shopping center these days
I just left Nick the Greek, and I must say hands-down, the best shish kebab, the best sausage hotdog you will ever get cause I had two shish kebabs and a sausage from the Greek in Queens. Whitestone will be coming back again tomorrow and after and after.
Hey nice video! I worked in Astoria in the early 80’s for a year or so and break and lunch time there was a guy that came to our place of work grill and meat on on a stick with a piece of bread similar to what you have on this video. Amazing times

Yes!! In Main Street, there were two vendors on each side of the street. One was run by an older guy and one by an younger guy. I use to go there all the time as a kid back in mid 2000s.
Was the other guy a bigger build and bald?
@@NYCHotDogStands yes!! Very funny guy , always cracking jokes with everyone.
@@NYCHotDogStands Can we find this guy too if he's around. He was great with the younger kids.
I live in Australia and we have a large Greek community here. The food is always delicious and the people are very hospitable. Loved this video.
Man, that all looks delish!!🤤
I LOVE THAT. I love seeing the good ol real beef sausages and hot dogs served from clean, well kept stands. I love to see guys like these successfully making it in New York.
Queens is the best, wow that looked incredible
Great video as always!!! You ever been to Florida and ate a hot dog here??
Not yet!
Love today's video, it's so wholesome 😢❤
What a cool story, especially since he was the same guy you remembered as a teenager at another location.
Beautiful report, so cool the you remember him and exchange stories, blessings and respect 👊
Love you Nick!❤
Next time I go there I stop by Nick's! My first date with my wife was at the old pinball place that was at the set of stores that has Wendy's at one end. The pinball place was at the other end. That was 43 years ago!
I do love a good Sabrett’s hot dog. You gotta try one Carolina style w/ mustard, slaw, chili, and onions. It’s freakin’ bussin !
Oh wow, he got the mustard stick and he also have the coin collector as well. I have not seen that on a hot dog cart since the 1980s or 1990s
This guy knows what it takes!
That's awesome! 👌
Definitely subscribing as a fellow new yorker and also out of respect for doing this vid supporting a hard working local vendor. Respect
Thanks for the sub!
I wish i could eat that hot dog. Some times it's easy to forget that a good hot dog isn't just kids food/party food. A good hot dog is something everyone can enjoy
One of your best videos ...congrats Nick!!👏👏👏💙🇬🇷
Dude, I remember this man too growing up in flushing I used to get the shish kabob. Ever since a kid I remember going to his hot dog stand by where the buses line up now. And blocked it off because of the buses and traffic. Glad this man is well. Gonna stop by next week for sure❤
That hot dog looks so good in those onions what those onions look so colorful
You can tell both of you had a great time
There's still plenty of greek owned diner's in queens, including in whitestone...
Thanks again .. love you brother
On a related Connecticut note, try the Bridgeport Flyer in Milford. Best breakfast in town if you are in the area. Their corned beef hash is amazing.
I just left Nick the Greek, and I must say hands-down, the best shish kebab, the best sausage hotdog you will ever get cause I had two shish kebabs and a sausage from the Greek in Queens. Whitestone will be coming back again tomorrow and after and after.
Oh wait i see where it is! Its across the street from college point cinemas and inside the Amore's pizza lot. Thank you again for this video Chris 🙏🏾😁
Hey nice video! I worked in Astoria in the early 80’s for a year or so and break and lunch time there was a guy that came to our place of work grill and meat on on a stick with a piece of bread similar to what you have on this video. Amazing times
W🤯W Nyc baby....i miss home....this vid was a 10
i don't even eat hot dogs and i love this channel
Grew up 5 minutes away on the Whitestone/CP border and have been to Nick’s a few times. His souvlaki are excellent! Great to see you highlight him and the old hood!
