Robert Plant (lead vocalist) of Led Zeppelin, watched this, and his jaw just dropped in disbelief. This little girl was playing exactly what one of the greatest drummers in Rock history played. She is amazing. I've never heard anyone (drummer) able to deconstruct, exactly what, and how Bonham played the drums in this particular Led Zeppelin song. He (Bonham) is almost impossible to emulate. The only one who comes close is his son Jason Bonham. He got to watch dad play at home all the time. This little girl is special.

    Thanks Andrew!
    Yoyoka is my favorite drummer.
Believe it or not, she's self taught
from age 2! She's learned from
the masters. She learns a song by ear.
    She's 11 now, & has someone
    teaching her to read music.
    Some of her standout moments:
"Put You Thru" - off the leash
    "Stone Cold Crazy" Queen
    Ozzy - with friends
    Deep Purple "Burn"
    "Steam" by Peter Gabriel
    Rush "YYZ"
Billy Sheehan recorded a Mr. Big
    song with her.
    She was endorsed by Pearl
    at I think 9 or 10.
    So many live shows &
    collaborations + her family band.
    She is amazing!!
    Totally self motivated from
    the beginning.
She has always had free run
of the internet to find music.
    Her parents had never heard
    of Led Zeppelin!
Ian Paice reacted to her "Burn"
cover - & asked her to do a
    collab with him!!!!

She's not self taught. Her father is a musician. She has received lessons. No one is ever completely self taught. It's true she's been playing since she was young... this is hours and hours and hours and hours of practice and dedication, something, I think, American kids aren't taught!

      She started giving lessons

@@weekendpartier Well, I totally self-taught guitar to myself with books. No teacher, no musical parent or any of that nonsense. She’s 11 now. Check out her Deep Purple Cover for Burn... Truly mind boggling how she pretty much nails the whole track the way Drummer Ian Paice performed it. I just watched his reaction to her performing “burn” and he literally ended his concluding words with tears in his eyes. He stated at 11 she’s already having Pearl Drums sponsoring her which totally impressed him. He said she hits the drums with sheer power which takes great fitness to do. In this reaction video of yours, at 8 I couldn’t get over how high she had those sticks in the air as she struck those drums without mercy. Her bass drum peddle work was killer. She’s definitely going places this young one... I could listen to this reaction video for hours on end. Great video mate..

She is spectacularly awesome! Damn, I can't get enough of watching her perform. As a 54 yr old musician (rock guitarist), it brings tears of joy to my eyes just watching how much enjoyment she gets out of playing. I, too, am always concerned over whether parents push kids too hard to play and so they don't get any enjoyment out of it... but it is obvious that she is getting a huge kick (pun intended) out of playing!

    Lovely and authentic reaction!
You'll need some time to catch up with what Yoyoka's been doing since she was eight - especially recently during the pandemic 'stay home' - some great collabs.
"Thing is it's like falling off a log for her" as Robert Plant said. That's it, I think - she's so on top of it musically that she has head room to simply enjoy the shit out of it.
Check out the very end of her recent Deep Purple, Burn cover: She just laughs because she got it good enough on the first take. Not even out of breath!
I'm sure you'll have discovered by now that she's been a professional drummer playing gigs in her parents' band, since before she made this video, even.
Oh, she'll probably thank you for this - delightful human that she is..

Yoyo is great. She’s a little older now, and has played with some pretty amazing musicians. She also does a great cover of Rush’s YYZ.
Totally agree with you about women playing drums. The drummer I play with most is a woman, and she’s terrific, although maybe not as good as Yoyo.

I love wathcing Yoyoka play. The best thing is the joy she has for what she's doing. My second favourite part is how, when she's not playing, you can tell she's just ACHING to start kicking the shit out of those drums again.

At my highschool it was custom to play drum challenges at the end of the music lesson. The teacher would give Independence exercises adding a new limb or rhythm. The girls were always the best without a doubt. And this were all kids who didn't drums as an instrument. It seemed like girls had better independence between limbs than the boys : )

    • @acfiv1421
      @acfiv1421 ปีที่แล้ว

Maybe it's because playing drums is not a considered to be a particularly girly thing to do (You bash things an make lots of noise!), the girls who decide to do it have to REALLY want to do it, and brings a level of passion that most guys don't. One other thing to consider is that playing drums for a couple of hours on stage is a REAL physical workout - depending on your style of course, if you play like Charlie Watts you might last for days. But I wonder if most girls - regardless of their skill level - start to run out of steam after an hour, unless they really dial back on the power.

But still continued on and it all worked out..but i for sure suprised there were girls in the class i dont know why i was soo suprised prolly because its not often you see women drummers back in the 80's

    2) Thank you for reacting to this video!
    3) She does a tutorial about getting those triplets on the kick pedal. Pretty cool seeing a little kid explaing a technique she has mastered
    4) she just put up a blistering cover of Burn by Deep Purple and Ian Paice reacted saying she was already a frightening drummer. He is most def one of the most under rated drummer since Ringo Starr. When I saw here cover it messed up the language center of my brain for about an hour.

    5) She just turned 11 in October
