From heavy metal to Classic to Jazz - this kid has it all. I went to her 15th birthday bash at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood and it was just an incredible experience. Even got my photo with her :-).

Thank you making this doc of my favorite drummer. I can't believe how many times I have been brought to tears, smiles, & just overall joy by watching her.
Wow, that was a great video. I've been watching Yoyoka's videos for the last 6 or 7 years and I'm a huge fan of hers. This video showed me a lot more of her that I didn't know. Thanks for making such a nice video of Yoyoka. Yoyoka is a superstar in the making and I'll be following her for the years to come.
Shared the video ... Hope that a lot of parents are going to be inspired to put their kids into music... Thanks for this amazing job. And the Artist with a giant A, Yoyoka thanks for bringing me so much Joy and Life.
Thank you for your time in making this video. I appreciate your kindness and humility. Your kindness to this young genius and your humility with regard to being inspired by her. Very rare and precious traits indeed. That makes you special.
It's not only Yoyoka, but it's very heartwarming to see so many very young musicians displaying such a skill and taste in good music. It gives hope that we can quickly overcome the current generation who's only skill is tiktok and instagram
What can one say, Wave and Glen, for framing that portrait of technique and feel in such a wonderful video. It was packed full of Yoyoka history - all 12 years of it - as well as it being super entertaining. It was amazing to see two worlds collide when Yoyoka had the opportunity to visit you and you both got to play together. Two keepers of the sticks of difference cultures, ages and genders, and opposite ends of the world, sharing the same passion and creating a beautiful session. Thanks. It was a pleasure to watch.
It's rare that a musician will bring tears to my eyes, not just because of the power and beauty of a performance, but because of who they are. Yoyoka has had that effect on me MORE than once. Yoyoka is not only incredibly talented - especially for her age - but she is sweet, generous, charming, funny, brave, and inspiring, and so is deserving of this wonderful tribute. (Excellent work on this documentary, Wave and Glen!) Something tells me this won't be the LAST documentary on the amazing life and skills of of the great Yoyoka Soma.
I came across this amazing and lovely young lady during lockdown and her drumming and wonderful smiles helped the days pass better. Can't wait to see where life takes her. Please come to the UK and tour soon. (Manchester please)
I hadn’t seen a video of her for a few months , then this week I saw her cover of , This is hip by tower of power ,, it’s not just technical ability , it’s the deepest pocket which cannot be taught , it’s not just clickbait this kid is capable of going to the top of her profession,
A very big thank you Wave, for this excellent documentary you are really a very special person and I love your work. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.
She’s Amazing 😻 we all were blown away watching her do Good Times Bad Times.. it was clear from the start that she surpassed the ability of drummers 3X her age Truly a Prodigy
Wow..what a fantastic tribute documentary. I'm a fan of Yoyoka as well as you, Wave. Thank you Wave, Glen and Rosie for putting this all together. Greetings from Indonesia. ❤️
We (mostly Wave) have been working on this for months. Just glad everyone seems to love it. It's got to make Aki (Dad) and Rie (Mom), so proud! Even little brother Shido should be proud of his big sister. YOYOKA is probably too modest to realize what has just happened here (based on all the hard work she has put in for 10 years)!
Yoyoka's parents are a key to her success! I call Yoyoka the "human metronome": her timing is perfect. She is in the US now: we are so lucky to have her! All the best Yoyoka!
Thank you for putting this video together, it was a BIG hit and I like the way you present her...excellent. I'm a sub to Yoyoka, love to watch her play, watched 250+ of her videos, some 20-30 times . Major credit to her mom and dad, they are parents of the decade IMO. Your reaction to Sparkling was a great inside into just how technical and musically talented Yoyoka is. I look forward to anything she puts out and hope one day soon I get to go to a concert where she is performing.
Great job Wave and Glen! I meant to just watch a little of this, but ended up watching the whole thing because it was fascinating, well organized and well delivered. I am sure if I was a drummer, this would have been even more interesting.
... no, thank YOU, Wave. This is brilliant and for me much awaited. I have craved to learn more about Yoyo-san and her extraordinary family. After all when you experience genius it opens your mind to all kinds of possibilities. The first Yoyoka video I watched (about 4-5 years ago) I went in search of because I had found the and watched the DJ+Robert Plant video... which without reservation - blew my tiny mind. I was hook, right then and there. Sitting there in my mundane life it was crystal clear to me - this kid is special. And the thing that nailed it for me was that she was having such a good time. I was like ...wOAH! look out this one is going to leave a mark. And yeah ... watching her broaden her skills and seeing the person she was becoming, was a tremendous privilege. Thank you so much for this Wave Potter. You put a smile on my face a mile wide, just like Yoyo-san does. And that is a good thing.
Great video about a terrific young drummer and who seems to be an even better person. To this day, no matter how excellent her new videos are, my favorite video of Yoyoka her cover of Rock This Town by the Stray Cats.
What a fantastic piece of work you guys put together there man. Absolutely love it. She is a special human being. This planet needs more of them. And yes. 'Sparkling' is really something special.
Wow, Wave. This is an incredible tribute to an absolutely wonderful and talented soul. And I agree with you. She inspires me to want to be a better musician, too.
I usually don't like to watch TH-cam videos more than a few minutes long because they often feel bloated. But this may have been the best TH-cam documentary I have ever seen!
Thanks for putting this together, as it's fantastic to see so much of Yoyok's incredible journey in one video. You could've included a dozen other amazing covers she's done, most notably 'Speed King' by Deep Purple, which she absolutely nails, and 'Getting In Tune' by The Who, where she literally reincarnated Keith Moon. I've been following her development since around 2018 and I cried when I first heard 'Happy', which is always such a joyous song to listen to. Thanks again. We're all so priviledged to be witnessing the birth of a truly great rock legend. Cheers from the UK.
Very well done summary of this amazing young talent! I just found out about Yoyoka a few days ago when I saw her in a video with Ellen Alaverdyan playing the Ocean by Led Zepplin. I was blown away by her skills. Now I've got a lot of catching up to do . Going to checkout Yoyoka's channel.
Great doco dude. I just love this amazing young musician. She has that special something - that musicality and feel that cannot be taught, plus the amazing skills she has developed through her immense body of work. Her latest instrumental composition Sparkling? is nothing short of amazing. When she does a Led Zep cover or any other band’s cover she totally breathes the character of the music and drummer - it is astonishing. I’ve been a fan for years and will be a lifelong fan.
Thank you for this. Like many, I have been following the trajectory of Yoyoka since stumbling across her Hit Like a Girl cover of Good Times, Bad Times. There, I discovered her infectious joy and massive emerging talent. Thank you for pulling back the veil on her life, skills, and the respect she has earned, and continues to earn, from drummers and other musicians around the world. Well done.

Thanks for this. I also found my perceptions of her changed when I heard her play Rosanna. That wasn’t ordinary drumming and it wasn’t deliberately flashy, just difficult, complex, and extremely precise. She was already astounding but that’s when I realized I wasn’t listening to a kid here. This wasn’t prodigy drumming, it was adult drumming.
I noticed the same thing when she was 7 and played Char's "Smoky". To me, it almost looked like the day she became a seasoned pro! And then when she did Rosanna, she was just taking it to the next level of professionalism.
@@Glen.Black. it was a good day. I got to talk directly to Yoyoka for the first time and to Mrs. Rie. I got to see the other Yoyoka fans as well. @@chrisegbertky Yes. Thanks again. It was so fun to hang out with YOYOKA when she was here in Vegas, so I know what you're talking about. Wave is so nice to deal with. I gave him many ideas to improve his reaction videos (when he had 4K subs, Now 48K), most of which he either took or tweeked them a bit to make them even better. More important than the actual ideas, was that he was feeling beaten down and thinking of not doing any more reactions. I told him that he was doing a lot of work and should be getting paid for it. Not to make a lot of money, but to cover expenses and keep the fire going. He undervalues the importance and significance of his opinions. He was all stressed out about his towering backlog, so I suggested he monetize the reactions in order to help keep the backlog under control. Now, he's so happy that he gets to do what he loves, gets massive positive feedback, and makes enough money to at least make it worth while to do all the work he does. When I approached him about doing the documentary, I asked if he could charge me like it was an in depth review. He loved the idea, and offered to do it at half price. I insisted on paying him full price because I knew he would put way more time into it because of his love and admiration of YOYOKA, and he did. After I saw it, and how awesome it was, I actually doubled the amount I gave him. It's as good as any TV documentary I've seen. The intro still gets me to this day every time I watch it.

I've been a musician and have worked in music most of my adult life and have seen many young talents that were breathtaking...I have to say Yoyoka is equal or beyond anyone I've ever come across as an emerging musician. Her musical expression, technique, and versatility is insane at her age. She owns what she does as it's innate and not purely a learned skill. She has to be one of the greatest young musical prodigies in the world today.
Her skills are unrealistic but her smile at the end of each videos are adorable. Even when she was a little tot. She's the best

Well done, thank you Wave!
Very impressive, Wave! You really do her justice. Thank you for this. 👍🏻
Thank you for making this recap of Yoyoka's achievements so far!! Man I didn't even have a dream when I was 12!!;)
Like one guy said, "At 9 y.o. I was still trying to perfect my arm farts." Pretty much sums up most of our lives, or something like it anyway!
Great job Wave! And thanks to Glen too for your contribution 👍
Thank you Tim! And also Glen!
Agree! He out did himself again. I always tell him I'm Johnny Appleseed. I plat the seed and he makes it grow to EPIC heights!
I dont care how old, i dont care what gender . Thats one of the best drummers in tbe world
Thank you for your time in making this video.
Big fan ! Thank you for all the hard work..
Excellent and heartfelt thanks guys.
Amazing work Wave and Glen (and Yoyoka!), this is so good.
We're just trying to get her the recognition she has EARNED!
Absolutely epic Wave!
Thank you Carla!
Thanks Emanuel!
As I have stated before, she can fill in for any drummer in any band.
One guy said "We need a drummer like this in our band", and went on to say "And I'm the drummer".
I came across this amazing and lovely young lady during lockdown and her drumming and wonderful smiles helped the days pass better. Can't wait to see where life takes her. Please come to the UK and tour soon. (Manchester please)
I hadn’t seen a video of her for a few months , then this week I saw her cover of , This is hip by tower of power ,, it’s not just technical ability , it’s the deepest pocket which cannot be taught , it’s not just clickbait this kid is capable of going to the top of her profession,
Loved this. Thank you. I’ve been listening to Yoyoka for four or five years. Her talent is just out of this world.
A very big thank you Wave, for this excellent documentary you are really a very special person and I love your work. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.
That’s so kind of you to say! Thank you!
YOYOKA is probably too modest to realize what has just happened here (based on all the hard work she has put in for 10 years)!
nice .... im in wisconsin as well ... shes amazing
Beside her obvious phenomenal talent as a drummer, I am just struck by the incredible joy that is inside her.
Great job Wave and Glen! I meant to just watch a little of this, but ended up watching the whole thing because it was fascinating, well organized and well delivered. I am sure if I was a drummer, this would have been even more interesting.
I was glad that Wave allowed me to have a small part in this epic production! He loves what he does AND IT SHOWS!
... no, thank YOU, Wave.
I’m so glad you appreciated this Mark! Thank you for the kind words!
Thank you for your excellent documentary on Yoyoka. She is out of this world talented!! 👍👍👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, great documentary you made your. Please keep your passion for music alive. Thank you
Great video about a terrific young drummer and who seems to be an even better person.
What a great cover of her this is. You captured the spirit of what it is to be a musician. Yoyoka is just one of those that inspires.
Always happy to see people finding her for the first time!
Awesome video! I really appreciate what you've done to bring attention to and information about the iconic musician that is YOYOKA.
Wave I really enjoyed your docutribute, she is a joy and an inspiration to all of us. 🐰🥁🐰🥁🐰

My favorite part of that video is when she looks like a lioness stalking her prey at 00:57...LOL
I noticed the same thing when she was 7 and played Char's "Smoky". To me, it almost looked like the day she became a seasoned pro! And then when she did Rosanna, she was just taking it to the next level of professionalism.
Excellent video. Thank you for making and posting it. Yoyoka is very special, so it's great to see her receiving so much love.
You have done justice to a great drummer. She has a beautiful soul. Thanks for your dedication. ✌🏻😎
This is a very wholesome video. Thanks for doing it.
Superb! Absolutely 💯 superb! Fantastic job!!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you Chris!
Thanks for the shout out today in the Zoom Meeting. That was very kind of you to bring it up! Thanks!
@@Glen.Black. it was a good day. I got to talk directly to Yoyoka for the first time and to Mrs. Rie. I got to see the other Yoyoka fans as well. So yes my gratitude is genuine on the immediate direct help you've been to the Soma family. You have done a great deal to spread the word while also helping Wave. I really appreciate what you've already done
@@Glen.Black. you have enriched our lives!

Note: I got my first kit at age #12.,and started on Led tunes, too.
Brilliant presentation and a winning personality. Thanks.
been a fan for years she is so special, thanks for highlighting and sharing the passion she has captured and nurtured in the short time she has been playing her drums she truly does sparkle
Great storytelling
very inspiring how you matched your own background and experience against yoyoka' s
