This video has showed me how good ear and knxwledge is the key to success. Like Madlib said so many times, hardware doesn't matter. I've had an MPC live for a couple of years and never came up with anything close to this. This is beat making masterclassess. Thanks for sharing Jon!
its crazy anyone thinks the key to success is any given tool. Its always the creator, the labour the understanding. The tool is just a tool to get to the end result
Saw your face and was like is that John Wayne!!! 40 Winks! AFRAID OF US I honestly thought you just stopped music and randomly seeing this channel made me pretty happy. Thanks for still killing it.
I have been playing around with my octatrack mk2 for a while, coz i got inspired of your workflow and what that little maschine can do and it's sound. But did just some days go back to my MPC, and found that i can kind of do the same workflow and at the same time keep that inspiring feeling present. But also since the octatrack is a beast, it is still old when it comes to some functionality, but in my case especially the ram size. Not for the creative purpose but for the extra work if you want to stem out 7 tracks + live mix, thats longer then 1 minute, in one go. So yes! I would love to see my favorite producer, do his thing especially on the MPC😊 Love from Sweden
I’ve been waiting a long time for this! Awesome beat! Definitely bring on more! My fave thing is that I make endless four/ eight bar loops on the MPC so I can’t wait to watch you process those into songs… that’s really going to help me. 🎉
MPC gaaaaaang! Fire as always. You mentioned that the octatrak workflow is similar for you, and I just wanted to say that a lot of the science you drop in previous videos translates really well to me as a MPC user. Thanks Elwood!
so nice to be able to look behind the curtains of the creative process. Looks so easy but that's strictly mastering a skill after years and years of dedication to a craft. keep up the great work. much love and respect
Thanks man. I think the biggest change for me is how much less accessible it is to change and edit notation once you've performed it. It's just not intuitive (at least in 2.0) with the touch screen and jog wheel. The Elektron stuff it's all so immediate. But yeah the chop and sequence and then loop audio on top can be done and that's my bread and butter. Fun machine!
When I got my octatrack it wobbled and I just bent it into the place lol. Realized you can do it to any elektron device since the metal box is pretty flexible. Just takes a lil push. Thank you Michael Patrick Carl
@@-The-Darkside mine is also unresponsive! Sometimes I have to push a part on the screen and it takes a few times before I hit the right place. I prefer buttons that you only have to hit once. I do have large fingers though!
just watched your video on why more musicians need to create more content. And at first I was thinking “Yea..I get it.”. But watching one of your beatmaking videos made me say “Oooooohhhh…noooooowww I get it!”. We need more people sharing their process because it fuels inspiration and keeps all the gears turning. The process of electronic music making is so deep yet very simple. So seeing other people go through their process in their own ways is a great way to pull yourself from a brain fart moment or learn new techniques without a specific tutorial. Even seeing you make mistakes is refreshing because most people edit them out for the final product to shine. But these videos are what keeps the underground fire makers going!! I started making content a couple years ago and fell off because I wasn’t getting the response I thought I needed. And that’s where I f***ked up. I had the wrong mindset for WHY I was making the content. And I’ll be getting back on it ASAP. Thanks for the push. Oh and the beat is dope af! 😂💪🏾
To be fair I did have the Live in 2018 for about a month making some really simple sample chops on it but I didn't really get it. With this session I sat down and watched a ton of tutorials and even read the manual a bit. This track helped me understand a lot of what makes MPCs special.
And that's just scratching the surface of modern mpcs. They're basically a daw in a box and the only thing you might still need a daw for is vocals. The next update is even giving a daw like arranger
@@-The-Darkside I'd like an MPC but in wich you can import any VST's, i hope it comes fast, i don't like laptops + MPC, we need to be able to run any VST's into it, maybe i''m dreaming but the first brand to do this moove will sell tons of MPC's like..
great beat. almost like the workflow is unique person to person and it just comes down to what you feel like touching that week. I prefer looking at the octatrack but the MPC is cool :)
Pretty cool. Nice to see some MPC stuff. I've been using my OP1Field to emulate tape on the last mile of my tracks. It adds flavor and a really nice way to speed up or slow something down without a huge tape machine.
as a three year MPC user and a fan of your page, i’m delighted to see you using this machine in a way that inspires me to cut mine on immediately. great work as usual!
Fantastic as always! Might we hope for a return of the 404 in the near future? Its always fresh to watch how you produce on different devices. When I use different machines I end up making different types of music. I think you a more consistent with the music despite using different machines. Thanks for the video!
Again, that tape transfer at end makes the beat melt in your eardrums. Like butter.
