Glad to see young producers are finding out about hardware. I just bought one last week. I still have my MPC 1000. Nothing like punching pads. Much more of your feel goes into the track.
@@blaccteezy brother we got big boy toys in our little ass phones now you can produce fire music with a stop tape if you really wanted… you dont need a super expensive machine to make music

Making beats on a laptop is wack. Most kids these days only learn that way because they can't get gear. They use the laptop mom got them for Christmas, and use free software. And literally, EVERYTHING is trap beats. So boring.
It's fun to see people who have traditionally made music only on the computer try making music with a more tactile way. It really does change the way you create. Sometimes limitations force you to focus on just the sound of the music and how to build something without depending on the software to do it for you. Congrats guys!!! I'm sure there will be more to come as you dig deeper.
funniest video ever, seeing you guys struggling with that machine was a nice experience. i love j and you and wanna see other producers with that machine obviously
This is what it’s all about right here! Having fun doing what you love, finding out new and creative ways to keep inspiring yourself and one another, and sharing your experiences with each other is what makes the Producer community evolve, it’s all love! Whether you’re on an iPad, an SP404mkII (both pair perfectly with an MPC!) 😉, DAW or whatever else your using just keep creating and have fun! There’s really something special about being in on your own little world without all the distractions of a full computer. The immediacy of just picking up your MP and chopping up some breaks is no different than someone grabbing up a guitar and playing a few licks, (limitation sparks creativity) you can always bounce your stuff out to a DAW later on for finishing touches if needed but 90% if not all the beat can be done standalone with a more tactile percussive feel! Especially once you start figuring out the plugins provided on the MPC… they’re less visual and more reliant on using your ears but they’re updated continuously. One tip I’d definitely recommend in your workflow is after laying down each new part of your track like with your hats is to 1st put the hats in a keygroup (piano roll) and also to engage and disengage the overdub button quickly before overdubbing each new layer of a track, so if you fumble all you have to do is tap undo once and it will take you back one step at a time instead of losing the whole track! If you go back too far shift plus undo to redo, this makes everything thing run a lot smoother! Also Qlink 2 scrolls backward and forwards through a sequence a bit quicker for previewing your beat, and you can erase a pad out of something while listening by just holding erase and the pad you want to take out at a certain point. Double tapping a button is usually same as holding it with shift for secondary functions. Anyway keep banging on those pads and have fun!
It was dope to see someone else experience this Transistion. I started out in the late 90s with the mpc 2000… once I came across Fruity Loops 1… I completely stopped using the Mpc2000… it became like and paper weight on my desk…I went from Fruity loops 1 to Fl 20… then I came across a mpc touch 3 years ago which is a completely different experience from the 2000 or Fl… The Mpc is a beast… no reason to use anything else in my opinion
I can tell only from expirience on maschine mk2 it's pretty simple and intuitive. Once you spend a day or 2 with it you can make beats pretty fast there are different features in it but overall workflow it's not that hard. I bet mpc is different in some ways but it's all about hardware experienc over clicking in everything
Purchasing one next week just play around with. Started with a MPC 2000xl, then fl studio 2 to FL studio 9 before I switched my studio to my office for my magazine. I got to find my Triton though somewhere in storage, cant wait to get back to these moments
Bruh I got my first MPC this year. Been using FL since 2002. I got the Live 2. I'm not where I wanna be with it but you'll get the hang of it through repetition.
i just got an mpc live 2 after being an fl die hard for a decade and oh is it a LEARNING CURVE my god. ITS SLOWED MY WORKFLOW DOWN 100X but that was part of the reason getting an mp… tryna slow down a bit and feel the music again not just blowing thru a million bazillion options and possibilities so easily on fl is a blessing and curse. Less is more type of thing and makes you think more creatively when you got to use less tools to make something interesting! trying to preserve hardware/analog vibes & integrate it into my digital workflow as well.
i find the mpc to be great at creating loop packs - but i tend to finish the beats on fl studio because it has better sound design and control over exporting or routing. with the mpc - i think you have to be more organized from the first sequence - and have all the sounds that you want to put in before duplicating, atleast for mine. if the tracks are not in the same order as the first sequence - the sound wont export fully.
