"no problem 30,000 ft is good enough"! we can't reach 400 knots? "no problem 240 knots is still very fast, our ancestors used to travel on foot for days"!!
Airlines and regulations require a checklist be used for a reason. Clearly these 2 pilots didn't not follow the checklist, and completely ignored the 3 green landing lights on the annunciator planal being on the entire flight. Attention to detail is a must attribute for all airline pilots to have.
Unfortunately, "gear up" is not an item in the after takeoff checklist. Atleast, as much as I know. It's weird but it is what it is. Checklists most of the times are different in different airlines. But still has the items made mandatory by the manufacturer and the control authorities, such as FAA, DGCA etc. Gear is very important. So important that you have to do it even if it is not mentioned in the checklist.
What's weird is that the Airbus normally has a ton of safety alarm warnings that the computers detect. You'd think they'd have a "gear extended" warning once the planes gets above 10,000 feet or so. But apparently they didn't think of that. And traditionally, when the callout for 'positive rate' is called out, they are supposed to also say, 'gear up' and do just that!! But in the UK they say 'undercarriage up' because the British always have to have different names for things.

They were already on autopilot so they certainly had the time to do those checks. The only two smart things that they did were to divert when it became obvious that fuel was going to be an issue and when they realized that the gear was still down during approach they kept focus on a safe landing. I’m surprised that the onboard systems wouldn’t have raised an alarm for this. That’s a 2015 AirBus which should have relatively advanced computers that are monitoring status for issues. Gear down above a threshold altitude or above a certain airspeed should be cause for an audible and visual alarm.
Motorcycles have a safety in place,so if kickstand is left down the bike will stall. An extended kickstand can cause an accident on the first corner. Airlines with hundreds of million dollars in aviation investment did not install a warning light,or buzzer? Repetition & complacency are the major factor in disasters.
'Pilots are also surprised why and how the cabin crew or passengers did not complain of noise and vibrations associated with flying at lower altitudes' 😆 you can't count on those passengers!
That could cause a crash directly aircraft are not meant to fly at high-speed with gear down. It could cause some form of structural failure, but certainly could run out of fuel and it could cause controllability issues Had They run into bad weather and exceeded the safe speed.
I've never flown much, and certainly have never achieved a pilot's license, but whenever Im driving, in either my car or truck, I do pay close attention to the instruments on the dashboard. Don't these airliners have indicators telling pilots such information? If so, these pilots obviously pay no attention to the instruments on board
The "flaps up" after the "positive rate" call was bad enough, but the PM actually raising the flaps in a low altitude, low airspeed nose high attitude takes the cake! Then failing to do an after takeoff checklist...WOW! That's it...just WOW!
Wow, so the landing gear did not rip off? Either that gear is super strong, or they got lucky. Man if I did that in a jet fighter in War Thunder, my gear would have ripped off a long time ago.
One more reason to not got to India, never fly Air India, and more. Incredible lack of training, experience, aptitude for pilot skills, and finally, situational awareness to never question the reduced performance of the A/C or do a fuel remaining check at a much earlier time. I am a former US Navy pilot and flight instructor. I have a strong sense that these two should never been accepted for pilot training for an airline.
Naw...India is a country that shouldn't be missed. Complete sensory overload. I took a few domestic flights there, with my eyes wide open about the inherent risks. I can't wait to go back.
So, no after take off checklist or any other situational awareness raising attention to the "three green" - This is really odd. How did this crew manage to fly in the first place? Or were they so fatigued?
They kept hearing a warning voice. It was in English. One of them said, "What is it saying," not in English. I think at least one passenger asked the stewardess why the wheels were still down. She said, "Not my job."
While sorry the ladies lost their jobs, and glad the aircraft landed before it ran out of fuel, this was an extraordinary error. Okay, I guess it's possible to momentarily forget to raise the wheels during takeoff, but you would have thought that one of them would have soon realised, with the slow rate of climb, inability to reach correct cruising altitude, warning lights on the panel, then the high fuel consumption due to the drag . . . As commented here, you might have thought that with all today's technology the aircraft would also issue a voice warning.
At least it was just the gear. Pilots before them forgot to set the flaps on takeoff and crashed. Northwestern 255 was the deadliest for this type of error.
I can't help but think the presenter included the irrelevant detail that they were "female" because he knew it would generate a lot of idioric comments, yours being one of a few exceptions.
I mean, telemetry to help distracted pilots seems so easy to implement.. And it would allow for a backup mesure to avoid these events from happening at all. And instead of suspension, turn these events to call for attention if they have to be reminded of such a thing.
I hope she does not see it and just reaches over and move gear lever UP. She will tear the gear doors off. Oh well, what the heck, she does not need them anyway. Lol
Stranger yet, why didn't a passenger see the wheels down and bring it to the flight attendant's attention??? All aircraft should have surveilance cameras covering the bottom and top of the aircraft...we have dash cams in our cars..but not on airliners....amazing. Yes, pilots should have been researching why the plane was not performing correctly...neither of them are analytical enough to be in that job.
I am sorry the ladies lost their jobs ...but when two pilots in the same cockpit show the same level of mindlessness, maybe they need a break. I am sure they are otherwise good pilots and eventually picked up work with another airline.
they have their jobs with the same airline. and good point, the weather was really bad that day. it was a genuine error which should have been rectified in troubleshoot phase of flight.
no after take off check list completion and no instrument panel monitoring. neither looked at the instrument panel well enough to notice any anomalies.
This is one of the dangers of automation, it has severed the tactile relationship (contact) between pilot and machine. To not be aware of the terrible performance of this aircraft, is a clear example of this. Pilots now fly the computer, and rely on the computer to fly the airplane. Placing the computer between the plane and the pilots, leads to loss of the muscle memory of the feel of the machine. Compare your ability to write with your usual hand with you less used hand, and you can see the difference muscle memory makes to your control.
autmation in this case has nothing to do..... when people don't know what t say, say "it's automation's fault" when there as no automation accidents rates were 10000 times more than now so let's stop with this bullshit
Astounding. More astounding than leaving the gear down is the failure to react to the huge and obvious abnormal performance that they were clearly aware of.
Airbus auto throttle technology will not let the aircraft exceed 230 knots with gear down, approaching that speed the Autothrottle retards power to prevent landing gear overspeed. Another clue missed by the pilots on climb out in addition to not doing the after takeoff checklist. And, in flight, the throttles don't move so they wouldn't have noticed that either. Airplane is doing exactly as it is programmed to do with the gear down. These two goofs were simply advanced past their levels of competence, not unusual in developing countries.
And the airplane system DID NOT SHOW that the gear was down at an unreasonable altitude? What the heck? Did they not look, or was it not insistent or clear a warning? INTERFACE ERROR.
Reminds me of another Air India incident many years ago. It was coming to land at Tullamarine airport in Melbourne, and forgot to lower the landing gear. I guess their pilots are as well trained, as their medical practitioners. 😂

I’m surprised that the onboard systems wouldn’t have raised an alarm for this. That’s a 2015 AirBus which should have relatively advanced computers that are monitoring status for issues. Gear down above a threshold altitude or above a certain airspeed should be cause for an audible and visual alarm.
10:46 - Dismissal unnecessary I feel.
A stern warning issued would be more appropriate.
In the US, the pilot's union would have argued for a pay raise.
Fire two male upper managers with spotless records and replace them with these two
Two Indian female pilots
Passengers must have prayed hard when they realised
Motorcycles have a safety in place,so if kickstand is left down the bike will stall. An extended kickstand can cause an accident on the first corner. Airlines with hundreds of million dollars in aviation investment did not install a warning light,or buzzer? Repetition & complacency are the major factor in disasters.
Wonder if they flew commando that day, too.
🤣🤣😂🥵🥵
'Pilots are also surprised why and how the cabin crew or passengers did not complain of noise and vibrations associated with flying at lower altitudes' 😆 you can't count on those passengers!
You do excellent work on your videos thank you ❤
You are so welcome
Dismissed? Rightly so. If it had been something they'd missed that could cause a crash directly, I'm afraid it might be a far worse incident.
That could cause a crash directly aircraft are not meant to fly at high-speed with gear down. It could cause some form of structural failure, but certainly could run out of fuel and it could cause controllability issues Had They run into bad weather and exceeded the safe speed.
AI is well known for hiring just any pilot from anywhere, with just a few hours experience in flying on a particular airframe . . .
My car has an audio alarm in addition to lights for an open door.
Seatbelts unlatched too.
The "flaps up" after the "positive rate" call was bad enough, but the PM actually raising the flaps in a low altitude, low airspeed nose high attitude takes the cake! Then failing to do an after takeoff checklist...WOW! That's it...just WOW!
Putting two female pilots in the plane is extremely dangerous level of adventure this company tried to achieve.
The excess fuel consumption, pollution, stress upon the engines and the landing gear mounts is...😖
Wow, so the landing gear did not rip off? Either that gear is super strong, or they got lucky. Man if I did that in a jet fighter in War Thunder, my gear would have ripped off a long time ago.
Thank heavens
Why will I never fly on an Indian Airlines? Yeah. This would do it
One more reason to not got to India, never fly Air India, and more.
There’s no backup system or alarms for common sense!
They both were on their periods
You just had to, didn't you? Lol lol lol.
In the good old days of pilots being able to use their hands and feet to fly, you could feel a $ recognise the drag in your backside.
The A320 doesn't have an alarm telling pilots the gear is down if the plane is above a certain altitude ?
Apparently not. Just the panel lights.
I think yes if it is above a certain operational speed .@@MPCFlights
@@MPCFlights no, nobody thought somebody could be THAT idiot to do that
For the dumb comments down there, this is a flight simulator called MSFS2020
I also blame the Airbus technology. There should be a alarm when the gears are still down.
Landing gear retraction makes a hell of a bumping sound with vibration. I"m surprised no one noticed it didn't happen.
Surprised that a passenger didn’t say something to a flight attendant about it…
There are TWO obvious problems with this flight: A Woman in the Left Seat…and a Woman in the Right Seat.
HAD to be "that time of the month", maybe?
third problem: both Indians
So, no after take off checklist or any other situational awareness raising attention to the "three green" - This is really odd. How did this crew manage to fly in the first place? Or were they so fatigued?
at least both the clowns knew they need fuel to stay in the air.
It’s been 20 years since l was a AB 320 captain, but isn’t there a configuration horn with the flaps up and gear down?
I don't think so with a high power setting, which fooled the computer. When they throttled back in the approach the gear was already down...
@@TheMaximac That’s right. Now l remember. Thanks
Wait a minute ! ?, no alarms "?" . I mean, despite the not noticing by the pilots..
I mean, telemetry to help distracted pilots seems so easy to implement.. And it would allow for a backup mesure to avoid these events from happening at all. And instead of suspension, turn these events to call for attention if they have to be reminded of such a thing.
Lo mejor de lo mejor muchas gracias saludos cordiales 💯🇺🇲 bendiciones ✈️🙏🙌🎉
I hope she does not see it and just reaches over and move gear lever UP. She will tear the gear doors off. Oh well, what the heck, she does not need them anyway. Lol
But I've always been told that Women are exceptional at multi-tasking!
They are . . . when being closely directed by their husbands.
Both of these pilots were awarded with two range rovers from the factories
Stranger yet, why didn't a passenger see the wheels down and bring it to the flight attendant's attention??? All aircraft should have surveilance cameras covering the bottom and top of the aircraft...we have dash cams in our cars..but not on airliners....amazing. Yes, pilots should have been researching why the plane was not performing correctly...neither of them are analytical enough to be in that job.
"passenger didn't see the wheels down and tell the flight attendant". You don't fly on an jet airliner all that much, do you?
The error has definitely cost the airline a lot of money. Was it recovered from these two, from their end of service pay?
this is so bizarre
Male pilots are named, why not the females?
This is why they have checklists, clearly not on Air India! Clearly no automate alarm system either.
funny thing: airbus took off the after take off checklist because it was really stupid (there's just a visual check)
In the US, the pilot's union will save the pilots jobs no matter what their level of incompetence. These pilots were evidently let go.
No flashing warning light or warning sound when the gear is down in mid-flight?
no after take off check list completion and no instrument panel monitoring. neither looked at the instrument panel well enough to notice any anomalies.
Compare your ability to write with your usual hand with you less used hand, and you can see the difference muscle memory makes to your control.
autmation in this case has nothing to do..... when people don't know what t say, say "it's automation's fault"
when there as no automation accidents rates were 10000 times more than now so let's stop with this bullshit
How do you forget to retract the landing gear? Isn't that done right after takeoff?
Maybe this, too, should be automated by speed/ altitude.
Astounding. More astounding than leaving the gear down is the failure to react to the huge and obvious abnormal performance that they were clearly aware of.
If I were to travel by plane and found out the cockpit crew were women I would not get on the plane!
Thanks for the upload. Sincerely, Linda
Strange that even in our cars their is buzzer for seatbelt and if handbrake is engaged, but airliners carry no buzz for extended gear 😂😂😂😂
Airlines in India hire U if the interviewer knows your father, uncle or 3rd cousin.
It was an honest mistake! Come on!
And no one was hurt, either.
Except the pilots who were fired.
Are they working as inspectors for Boeing now?
And the airplane system DID NOT SHOW that the gear was down at an unreasonable altitude?
What the heck? Did they not look, or was it not insistent or clear a warning?
INTERFACE ERROR.
Happy ending
Jesus. So many signs and ignored them all. Total incompetence. I'm surprised they even managed to find Nagpur.
Reminds me of another Air India incident many years ago. It was coming to land at Tullamarine airport in Melbourne, and forgot to lower the landing gear. I guess their pilots are as well trained, as their medical practitioners. 😂
Was there not an Ecam message? I thought the yellow or red alerts can be removed
