The only bad thing about S&Box is that the game is higher quality, so people are gonna have to make higher quality maps. In gmod it didn’t really matter. Also lighting maps is probably gonna be pretty difficult.

I love how good the ported Deagle weapon looks in Source 2 (S&Box) although it still feels weird, like very unnatural (maybe it's because the character is holding it with only one hand and not both)... but in general it is very good. I think the same about the map, it's beautiful and it was only made in a few months but it's already come a long way. :)
Why are you using 2 completely different maps made by different people? You could try using a professionally made gmod map that came out recently, i'm pretty sure the gmod map used here is really old (picked intentionally). I see your point though.
It just doesn't feel right without the iconic footsteps sound, medium resolution graphic, ambience, not so realistic lightning and the isolation tension they gave you.
It's not to supposed to be "Tense" It's a sandbox game! the only reason you don't find it tense is because instead of the textures being super low quality they're super high quality! also there are footsteps it's just not working in this video

By the way, I've never seen those weapon models, inventory and weapon "states" like ammo what type of weapon you're holding, before... did you add that? Because they look great.
you're not seeing the bigger picture, S&Box is supposed to be more of a tool to make games with! it's doing what Gmod has failed to do, where gmod has endless DarkRP servers filled with racists and British children S&Box is attempting to expand on the concept! in other words it's Roblox but good

I have been playing Gmod for years and I think S&Box is looking great so far, most of the negative claims have been mostly nit-picky like Terry looking stupid or the game not having Half-life characters (even though these can easily be modded in) I think one good complaint is that the game is rather volatile and buggy but that is to be expected as source 2 is a fairly recent thing. other than that I have high hopes for this gmod sucsessor

From a s1 and s2 mapper: lighting is incredibly easier in s2 compared to s1. The only "issue" for s1 mappers would just be the increased compile times
