- We restored a vintage Plumb Champion double bit axe head for US200$ with a large chip and rust. My dad made a new handle from ebony wood ( One of the most expensive woods in the world ) with a unique hexagonal handle design. I decorated the handle with brass wire inlay. The black ebony wood contrasts with the gold color of the brass wire, giving it a very luxurious feel. My dad and I put a lot of effort into this project and we are both very proud of the outcome. So this is the most expensive and luxurious axe we've ever made. We intend to make it for collection and display as a work of art. We would like to introduce art in the form of axes or woodwork. Despite the good work and stunning results, I find it somewhat a waste using that scarce and expensive wood to make a handle, no matter how luxurious you want it to be, specially with all the wasted cut offs.

Why would you do all that work and leave the axe edges in terrible condition?
We did our best. If we made the axe blades the same size, the axe blades would be much shorter. If we welded the chipped axe blades, we would have to reharden them, which we didn’t have enough equipment for.😁👍
