👋Hiya, noticed that this video is being pushed to a broader audience, so first off - welcome aboard, hope you enjoy your stay! 🏴☠️ To clear up a few things I've seen asked so far : 1. I'm dumb and hadn't picked up on which name Kuma usually goes by, so I keep calling him Tyrant a whole bunch. Try to ignore that 😅 2. The speed of light thing - don't take it too seriously, it's just me messing around. 400+ episodes deep into a fantasy series, I'm totally open to any kind of shenanigans that might pop up. I love talking about magic systems, especially with how interesting the fruit system is in OP, so I might bring it up here and there, but as long as I enjoy seeing it - I don't really care how "balanced" it is. The only thing I don't like is a "huzahh, new power", but there hasn't really been much of that so far, so I don't think it's anything to worry about. 3. More of a general point - keep in mind that I've basically seen these episodes once. I obviously go over parts of them while working on the video, but I may still get something completely wrong or say something stupid simply because I wasn't paying attention or something 😄 Think that's all for now, if you have any more questions for me, don't hesitate to ask! 👍
One question why do you have so much knowledge on haki and other things as well to be honest this is the first video I've seen from you so it just kinda thrown me of a bit when you referred to haki in such detail.
@@Phx... I assume I got something right? Please don't specifiy what that is, but much of what I talk about are either things I've been going on about for months or just random ideas I've been throwing around. I've seen Amazon Lily now, and I still don't understand Haki, especially with there being more of it, so I'm not too sure what you mean by that 😅 Though yeah - no spoilers please.
@@Phx... It is all based on his observations on Shanks during his Talk with Whitebeard and afterwards the retrospective views on Mantra, Shanks during Romance Dawn etc.
about the Marine cape! Oda said: It never fall off because they have justice written on the back and justice never falls, and aslong as the feeling of justice is in their hearts it wont fall off
if this isn't a joke for later chapters i'll be fine with it. I mean just look at JJK, "the more i explain my technique the stronger/more effective it gets lol". (Dw, i love both series)
Let's do some math. Aokiji in Foxy arc froze the sea in between two islands, which covers path that takes a person riding a horse "a few hours" (let's say 4) to go through, and you can't get there in tim just on foot. So, if we take a standard horse speed with a rider (12-13km/h) and standard human speed (4-5 km/h) we get diapason of 16-48 km of water Aokiji froze. Average out, and we get solid 32 kilometers of water. The stretch of water that he froze wasn't that wide, but was at least 20 meters wide. Ice usually floats with 9/10 of its volume under water, and in the manga we see that new frozen ice gets lifted to about 20 santimeters above water's previous level, which gives us solid 200 santimeters of height. 2m*32000m*20m gives 1280000 cubic meters of ice frozen in around two seconds To put it into perspective, the entirety of Hangar One is around 80% of that volume, and the weight of that ice would be around 1152000 TONS. And all of that in a few seconds without even breaking a sweat. So yes, admirals are pretty strong and heir devil fruits are pretty broken
Garp was likely responsible for the marines that surrounded the auction house - they weren't there because of Luffy. It isn't explained but I could see that Garp originally ordered them to simply watch the auction house and inform him if someone who looks like Rayleigh comes out.
@@StephenN.Parker Because it is simply unthinkable that someone hurts a CD I don't see the marines doing this (not mentioning that the CD will likely make no difference how they treat a marine or common people so the marines are in real danger there). And even if we consider it the troop size should have been way smaller.
@@f.carasind4188 Sure, they don't think anyone will do that to CD, but doesn't mean they don't keep some people near them. Beside, there was a whole navy base right nearby, if you rewatch the arc, the auction house is at Grove #1 (group 1 to 9), while navy base is at group 60-69, right below group 1-9. So they have enough time to move marine there.
@@Koroto garp is also often the one to say one thing and do something else that he thinks is right. So him not going personally seems to be a choice he made to not interfere in a substantial way. Akainu showing up is enough to keep the newbie pirates at bay, but Garp going would be enough to actually keep Rayleigh from doing what he wants which he probably doesn't want since Rayleigh would help luffy
Fun fact, Oda made the supernovas (the other pirate captains and their crews) LAST MINUTE, he sketched up all their designs and everything the week before it was supposed to go out just because he wanted to add more depth to the sabaody arc!
@@Koroto The same thing applies to the seven warlords, One Piece was originally only meant to go after the four emperors, however Oda added it last minute because he thought it sounded cool
Well it wasnt really his idea but the editors or guys in charge (idk what you'd call them). So he was like "aight lemme just whip out some characters and have them end up as one of the best things in the series" lmao Oda so underrated fr.
One of my favorite arcs. It's so tragic, and every time you find someone who read/watched it, they just have so much to discuss and theorize. Watching it together with someone, knowing what's going to happen, while they're just enjoying the rollercoasters and bubbles, it's the best lol
The thing about Kizaru is that even though he's physically as fast as the speed of light, he's not that fast mentally. It still takes him time to react to things, so if you can predict his attacks, it's possible to dodge/cheese them.
@@emperorluffy6001 idk man Kizaru just seems really spacey all the time. I always got the impression that the whole idea for his character is that he's both incredibly fast and very slow at the same time
False there's no basis for this argument characters relatively early on in the series I have already shown to have a light speed Reaction Time much less somebody like kizaro who would be way way above that human Reaction Time
@@emperorluffy6001 Sorry for the late reply, but I'm pretty sure Kizaru literally states that he doesn't like to fully transform into light because he can't actually control or react fast enough to keep up with its true speed, as well as said light being forced to travel in straight lines making it even more of a pain to navigate with. That's why he only ever transforms small parts of his body into light at a time, and when he does have to transform fully, he has that yata no kagami move. He uses it to find a path to his target so he can transform into light and follow that path towards them without actually needing to think or react in regards to movement and control. It might also be why he arrives on the battlefield via cannonball instead of just lazering there. Though it could equally just be Oda making a dramatic entrance for him. Another thing to note is that none of his moves actually start at light speed. They just rapidly accelerate towards light speed after moving. That's how Rayleigh (and other characters later on) was able to intercept the attacks multiple times. He just made sure they never got the chance to reach maximum speed and thus become unreactable, if that makes sense. Finally, Kizaru's reaction speeds are fast, but they're not light speed. It could be his Devil Fruit enhancing them, but it could also just be due to his training as a Admiral.
Oda (autor of the manga), doesn't like power scaling, and he thinks that fans should just enjoy the story without scaling everything. For example when he was asked how far can Luffy stretch he would give some stupid answer like "500 gomu-gomus". So you shouldn't take Kizarus fruit to heart too much. Maybe physics in OP world is different, or maybe Kizarus speed is limited by his own reaction and thinking speed. Cuz brain still has to process information and give orders to your body, and that takes time. So don't concentrate on it too much.
With all due respect to you, what you've just said is mostly headcanon. Yes, it's true about the 500 gomu gomu's, but honestly, that doesn't relate to power leveling all that much. If Oda truly didn't care about power scaling, he would not have made a shonen BATTLE manga. So, of course Oda cares about power scaling. It might not be a big priority, but it's still a priority. Feel free to disagree and discuss tho
@@entrenam45 I disagree, but I understand the logic behind it. One piece usually relies on a clash and then the characters walk away, and sometimes it completely offscreens fights entirely. Still seems like a major factor in the story, but its not as important as the fights in like naruto and black clover
@@HerculesOfHate Sure, he said the gomu gomu thing but Oda NEVER said he didn't care about power levels. That is whats false. In fact he very explicitly goes out of his way to make the power rankings clear. This isn't even my point. My point is about KIzaru and fans coming up with headcanon to dismiss him because they cant handle the fact that he's just that fast.
47:11 The tragedy of Rumbar Pirates already broke me. Oda only gets better at his craft and could write something even more tragic. You’re telling me you want to see more? You’re a sadist.
You are really great at paying a lot of attention to details. The first time i watched onepiece i didnt notice all this things, only on rewatch i could notice many of this things.
One of my favorite crew moments in that final scene was Brook also going out of his way to grab zoros swords for him since he is also a swordsman and knew how important they were and how he also knew what happened in the "nothing happened" moment
What Garp meant by him handling the Rayleigh situation is to just leave Rayleigh alone and Garp takes resposibility, because there is no way for the Navy to capture him without loosing many troops they need for the War with Whitebeard.
When I first watched this arc about 2 years ago, I knew everyone was going to be fine, that no one was going to die, but because of everything that was happening, because of everyone’s reactions and responses, I thought that everything ended here. And I’ll tell you right now, this is only the beginning of the pain you are about to suffer.
6:16 buddy...trust me... Not to spoil anything but there is A LOT about these two that you don't know... We'll get there when we get there but...phew boy. Loving the series so far! Was binging your videos for a while!
I've watched the whole series up until now and I've gotta say, I don't think it's his first time watching this. Gives the vibe of someone trying real hard to give the vibe of a newbie
Inherited Will is not Reincarnation. We've seen many instances of Luffy Inheriting others Wills and fulfilling them. In East Blue alone, Luffy inherited the will of Coby and took out Alvida, also with Chouchou and took out Mohji and Richie, next was Boodle where Luffy took care of Buggy for him, then Usopp where Luffy took on the Black Cat Pirates, then Sanji and defending Baratie from Krieg, then Nami freeing Cocoyashi from Arlong.
So, the weakness of Kizaru's fruit is that 1) When he turns into light to move he loses his directional control, he has to bounce off things much like actual light does. This makes him more predictable if you fight him in an open space and thus more reactable (along with some other things one can do you're not aware of yet). & 2) Because of this he is not constantly fighting at the speed of light. He has light-speed techniques yes like his kicks, but for example when he was clashing swords with Rayleigh he's not swinging at the speed of light. Remember Logias have to actively "turn on" their element form, otherwise they're just like anyone else.
Yeah he can't actually FIGHT at light speed, I think. The Human brain can't even make the calculations fast enough. He can move at the speed, make straight forward attacks like kicks and punches at that speed, but he cannot quickly flow from one attack tot he next at that speed. Like if he wants to move to you and kick you, he moves to you at light speed, but before he attacks he has to take a moment to take in his environment before he can attack. If he could fight unrestricted at the speed of light, I don't think anyone could beat him.
@@Chrisfragger1 Exactly. You can tell if you pay attention to him in fights he'll do something like move to someoneone's position instantly but then when he actually goes to attack them he's back in human form and like shoots a laser or something like that. It's consistent with all Logias, Ace cant fight you as a being of pure fire like a Balrog from LotR or something lol.
You are right sort of whenever he was clashing there's a good chance he was moving at a speed of light much weaker characters have shown the ability to move at the speed of light but I do still agree with your pulling
Corection : what destroyed Duval's base was called the Gau Cannon ( bassically the Coup de Burst used as a cannon ) . The Chicken Voyage is just the main of Sunny's figurehead spinning to propel the ship backwards Cheese
Kizaru having the power of light doesn't really mean he can use it fully, since his powers are limited by his own reaction time, also when he's doing the movement he only goes in straight lines.
@@emperorluffy6001 I didn't say he couldn't move at light speed tho. But that isn't feasible. If he actually moved at the speed of light he'd move (even if we assume a reaction time of 1/1000000s which would be faaaaar beyond possible) 300.000.000 m/s * 0.0000001s = 300m before actually realizing where he is => Kizaru would probably drown the instant he moves since the most likely place for him to be is in the ocean(or the space). At the same time we avoid the fact that a kick of Kizaru at the actual speed of light would probably match the destructive power of a few nukes. If we want to get technical, Let's assume that the One Piece world is similar in size to earth. If Kizaru were to use the parameters of REAL light, He could fly around the entire earth 7.5 times, In a single second................ A single second, He could literally be anywhere on the planet so fast that humans wouldn't even be capable of perceiving the moment he left and came back. He could theoretically travel to any position on earth and back to his original location faster than your brain can process and perceive his movement, it would simply just be a temporary acceleration of visual light but he would appear to have not moved as your eyes are only capable of perceiving at a certain frame rate. TL;DR If Kizaru used the true extent of light he could eviscerate planets, he could move fast enough to effect his perception of time possibly allowing physical alteration of time, He could move faster than humans are even capable of perceiving existence in front of them. Of course one piece physics shenanigans and nothing happens. Plus Kizaru is a lethargic guy. Either way, it's not believable for him to move at actual speed of light, unless light is different in one piece, therefore not being that overpowered after all. Half of this comment was basically a ctrl c from reddit forums, as it's agreed on the community that it doesn't make sense. Anyway, power scaling is dumb and this is just a petty way to say that you are wrong in calling me out.
The Supernovas weren't planed at all , Oda came up with them as he was making their debut chapter ( only having an idea that Kidd will be important ) . He did this because an editor told him the arc needed something more , which is crazy looking back . Cheese
We actually see Rayleigh for the first time in buggy’s flashback in the east blue when he argues with shanks about the north South Pole, he looks a bit different Tim the anime but in the manga he has the same design
I vividly remember reading this chapter almost 15 years ago and having to wait several months for the next volume to come out. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on cheese... I mean, the next couple of chapters.
Some NO SPOILER details and opinions -About Kizaru, IMO while the fruit changes the body to adapt (look at Alvida) there is a limit, so to me Kizaru is a little like the Tiger Beetle, an insect that is so fast it goes blind and as such will run-stop-run-stop to look where its going. So the combination of Kizaru slowing down by himself and some mantra like ability people can fight him, although its necessary a good amount of power to do so -About Garp not doing anything, that is his way of dealing with it. By not letting Sengoku know the situation and with that focus in the other legend since for Garp what Rayleigh is doing that is not a real problem. -About Zoro using Haki there, that is an animation mistake. Its a joke for a long time that he is intimidating and give some awful stares and the anime just put a little more emphase on that. No haki here. -About Doflamingo symbol, you also saw it with Bellamy (Jaya) and at least in the manga the medicine White Beard uses also has that symbol. Anyway, forget the cheese everything is about Smiles now
from my understanding, Oda doesn't like killing off characters unless its very important for the story. he's not like DC, he won't kill off characters for shock value or just to make you cry for a bit and then forget about it, he will only kill off someone if it's absolutely needed for the story.
Something to remember from the land of terrible laughs, (horohorohoro) Moria made a crew of zombies because he lost his living crew in the New World. Moria specifically said Luffy was too weak for the New World and he would lose his crew. Just something to chew on.
There was A LOT to talk about in this arc, I can't fault you for not bringing it up, but... Thoughts on the others Supernova (beside Kid and Law)? Also I agree, Capone's fruit power is awesome.
Most of them were very very intriguing - the prophet/future seeing guy is one I can already see being used for a whole bunch of foreshadowing, and his fruit power was also awesome. I love voodoo-type magic in fantasy, so I really hope to see more of him. The instrument guy is clearly pretty deceptively powerful, so I'm curious how his powers actually work. Capone is your typical mafia boss with an awesome fruit power to boot. I think seeing the crew face off against him could be super interesting simply because he can just have waves and waves of enemies to back him up. The pink haired girl who can turn people into babies is one of those characters that you can't really fight (sort of like the ghost girl in Thriller Bark), so I'm curious how the crew might beat her. (Though her power immediately gave me flashbacks to one of, if not the worst stand user in Jojo haha). Don't really know where to put the big guy with the wings - seems like a powerful character with a potentially interesting backstory (since the only place we've seen those wings is Skypiea), but not really sure where to pin him just yet. And lastly - the T-Rex guy seemed kinda meh. I like dinosaurs as much as the next guy, but so far, he was super forgettable. Not sure if I forgot someone, but those are my 1 sentence summaries of (I think) everyone else. 😄
@@Koroto It seems you didn't catch it but it was stated that the T-Rex was a marine Rear-Admiral ( 2 ranks below the Admirals and 2 above Smoker ) Also the big guy with wings was from Bierka , Enel's home island that he destroyed ( this was only revealed in supplementary materials that aren't included in the anime )
Ur in for a wild ride during the next few arcs, tho that’s kinda op in general . Ur probably going to enjoy them a lot, especially one in particular lol. Can’t wait to hear ur thoughts on them. Btw u will never stop watching this show now. Not until the end lol.
Not a spoiler but oda has said it wasn't "the friends you made along the way" also the Roger hearing voices was "the voice of all things" that the official translation of whatever that is
I like cheese almost as much as I like One Piece and your videos on One Piece. Just caught up to your latest in this series, which I figured was the perfect time to legitimately contribute to your experiment.
what Garp said was "Do you want to fight againts 2 legends?" meaning, we are about to fight against Whitebeard, there is no reason to go after Rayleigh at this point, and him taking care was rather, should any blame were to be given, he would take it
Kizaru's attacks move at light speed (or at least what passes for light speed in the OP universe) but he himself doesn't seem to have light speed reaction. Heck he might be the physically slowest top tier fighter ever. Note that he sets the attacks and then turns into light for the impact. So basically he's like melted cheese. It melts super fast, but it flows sloooooooooooowly
I'm so confused how does this work? he is lightspeed and he has observation haki. He just hardly cares due to he knows he's a logia and they can't harm him.
@@funnycoolaid8224 None of those things affect how fast he reacts to stuff. Yes advanced observation COULD make him react faster, but he's still a slow fighter.
Fun fact : Rayleigh appeared in Buggy's flashback in the East Blue , though the anime gave him a drastically different design to the current one . Cheese
As heavily into worldbuilding and lore that Oda very much is, he also adheres to the rule of cool. Thus, the capes. Also, I believe the captains (the leading officers of the military) in Bleach had a similar thing with their capes but a little more lore and character was put behind them. The capes were worn differently and denoted divisions that each lead. There are more examples elsewhere but I don't know the reason behind it being such a common trope. It does look cool though.
All this talk about luffy's connections to roger feel so nostalgic to me. It also makes me realize that a certain joyous individual doesn't get mentioned until the end of fishman island
Not sure if anyone has pointed, the Zoro-haki-moment is not canon. It didn't happen in manga. Toei just add it up to fuck with anime watchers. But the Zoro moment of trying to cut Carlos was truly insane. It was to show how blood thirsty Zoro can be, from 0 to 100 in a second. Edit: I don't think in One Piece, there is such thing as reincarnation, except for Brook of course, reincarnated after he died. If it does, Rayleigh would say this to Luffy ''I miss you old friend'' So far, most people reminded of Roger when they met Luffy. To me it is more because Luffy embodies Roger's traits and personalities. The way how Luffy says he wants to be the Pirate King with happiness and couldn't care less what other people think.
Kisaru may have the power of light but his brain moves slower than a tele snail... but seriously you have to trust oda here it all makes sense in the end^^
You don't understand Kizaru's Devil Fruit because you still think that ordinary Human limitations apply to these characters. Get that out of your head. If you're still thinking that Lightpseed should be "untouchable" thats only because you believe these guys are humans.
Tragedy makes a good story a great story and it helps us connect to the story and characters more. No matter how hard we try, in reality we can never escape tragedy, either way bad things will happen to you or your loved ones, and death will happen to you and your loved ones. Yes some of us experience more tragedy than others but it’s still one of those things that touches every person one way or another. So when there’s good tragedy in a story, that is grounded in reality but still a story, we usually connect VERY well with that.
Oh man. It will just go up and up bringing all the unexpected tragedy and leaving you tons of genius theories. And without realising, you already have fall in love with one piece. The pace you are going now is perfect taking 8months to cover around 450eps. It will give time for the latest anime episodes to catch up until the peak. Enjoy the voyage! Cheers!!
I've been watching and reading one piece over 20 years and I've been in the fan base for about half of that and you are the first person ive seen besides me to ever bring up the possibility of Luffy being Rogers reincarnation. I've been thinking it since they first met Krokus and Laboon

I'll just be the 1st to say this: It's just fiction logic. The whole time dilation thing with moving faster than light has been ignored by pretty much every shonen. Dragon Ball characters have been moving faster than light since the Freeza arc at the absolute latest and some of them these days are even moving faster than time itself. (Doesn't make sense? Welp, too bad.) Heck, even outside of anime we have the Flash, who has been able to run fast enough to travel through time pretty much from the start. Then there's Sonic the Hedgehog from Archie Comics, who is completely immune to time stopping powers purely because of just how fast he is. Of all the places to draw the line, I don't think this is it.
This youtuber is AMAZING in noticing things and theorizing. I have mentioned the same in other videos and I'm sorry that I repeat myself, but in every video he blows my mind. Well done. This time the reason I mentioned this is that he noticed the Donflamingo/Law symbols. On a side note: All the supernova (Kid, Law, etc) were created from scratch at the last moment by Oda, because he felt that this arc was boring.
This man is approaching peak one piece 🤝 be careful to not read ahead on episode titles on the filler list bc some of them spoil big things enjoy the ride and the mystery
One of the great parts of this arc is how dense it is. So many things going on. So many characters doing their own things. It's like the water 7 arc(pre enies lobby), but turned up to 11.
About the whole moving at the speed of light making you too op in the one piece world. You gotta remember Luffy and Zorro could both move faster than the eye can see at the start of the show For example for luffy anytime he used gum gum rocket or Zoro when he dissapeard in front of the bounty hunters and they both have gotten much stronger since then and they are both at this point in time far from the more powerful characters in the one piece world so i hope that gives you an indication that the sheer brute strength that the top dogs have in this world is already reaching broken standards. Do not forget that Shanks can swim but he is still a yonko
Even powerful characters like other admirals or emperors aren't close to moving at the speed of light, the comparison of Luffy and Zoro moving fast from the beggining doesn't really make the light-speed movement any less op The reason why the speed of light isn't as broken as he thinks is because of observation haki, but he's still learning about haki, no need to convince him or explain anything
18:30 I don't know if you're aware, but Conqueror's Haki only makes anyone not strong enough to resist pass out. You already saw this with the slave auction guard and Rayleigh, and Shanks and Whitebeards crew, and Shanks and the Sea King. Since Zoro didn't do that we can be certain they just got scared.
You don't seem to completely get how Kizaru's DF works. It's never true light speed since it would cause such a gigantic explosion everything would just die anywhere near him. We can pretty nicely assume it's 3x the speed as what Enel gets since light is roughly 3x faster than electricity. Even it's "pure lightspeed" is only a thing when he completely turns into light aka when he went after Apoo. When he kicks for example he turns the back of his feet into light so it basically works as a "light speed" jet engine that accelerates his foot that still has it's own weight. These are still one of the strongest kicks we ever see in the series anyways so i'm personally fine with it. If you ask me it's also a visual effect, they kinda have to nerf the speed of all his attacks so we can properly see them like how wind and air based abilites in media are clearly depicted visually for the audience to actually see what happens even if the effect is invisible in-universe
@@emperorluffy6001 yeah it's light speed and somehow they dont die. so uh anime physics or it isn't really light speed because it's made from a devil fruit and thus it is weakened form of light speed. idk. i dont really care tbh. i just enjoy the anime.
@@whitevortex8323 Uh, thats not an argument. You do realize that One Piece characters are superhuman right? Theres a A LOT of things that "should" kill them but don't. lol. It's not a weakened form of light. It's confirmed natural actual light. Unless you're gonna try to argue that Ace isn't fire. lol.
Garp says we can't fight 2 legends because of the incoming war, also Doflamingo is one of my favorite villains that's all I'll say. I know I'm not the first but your prediction got me on the edge of my seat I'm always looking forward to them especially as someone who's fairly caught up. If you've watched the show this long it's slowly shown the story growing up getting into a more mature series and it's slowly been raising the stake when you look back we couldn't really even beat crocodile without some outside help. The only reason we made it this far was by pushing through getting lucky which our friend Blackbeards Doctor Q said it in Jaya "he's very lucky" 🧀
I think kizaru can't move faster than his brain can process. So potentially he can move with a speed of light, but since he can't process this speed he just uses light as weapon.
@@whitevortex8323 It makes sense. Yall are just coming up with unnecessary headcanon to try and explain something that DOESN'T need to be explained. Kizaru is Lightspeed. Period. End of Discussion. It's that simple.
@@jonnjones8263 i think what you're not understanding is what ppl meant to say, i think they mean HE CAN move at speed of light, like, for traveling, but in the middle of the fight you have to react, think and act, and unless you'r brain also thinks at the speed of light (thing that i highly doubt) it's impossible to do all of that in the middle of a battle, if he could trully use his power to that extent he could just slice rayleight 100 times before he has time to react, period, that's how fast light is
@@lordkyruma You're still not understanding why all of that is wrong. "if he could trully use his power to that extent he could just slice rayleight 100 times before he has time to react, period, that's how fast light is" That argument MIGHT apply if Rayleigh had the reactions of a Normal Human. He doesn't. When are you gonna get it through your heads that none of these characters are normal humans? These are all Superhuman monsters. Our normal human limitations don't apply. Kizaru is Lightspeed and Rayleigh just happens to be able to keep up with him because he's simply THAT strong. Period.
Consider this, you clearly are emotionally invested despite the lack of deaths. Everyone complains about the lack of "stakes", but then watch/read a thousand episodes/chapters.
I like how oda did hint to the strawhat's defeat beforehand. In Thriller Bark Gecko Moria kept telling the strawhats that they were too weak and that they would never stand a chance in the new world. At this point the starwhats don't really pay any mind to him because they have always beaten the odds before, like in Enies Lobby. So it just sounds like stuff we've already heard. But when Kuma shows up and wipes out the crew it just reassures Moria's point. And then we get Brook's backstory were he and his crew are taken out because they are too weak to handle the challenges that lay past the red line. Once again alluding to a possible outcome the strawhats might face if they go the new world unprepared. And then they go to Sabaody and are defeated. After that and the paramount war everything becomes clear to Luffy and the rest of the crew that they are not at a high enough level to face the new world. So they take the 2 years to train. I didn't notice this the first time watching but it's interesting to see that Oda was setting us up for the inevitable defeat of the strawhats. He knew that the audience was accustomed to the strawhats succeeding in even the most difficult of circumstances and used that overconfidence to his advantage to give us one of the best One piece Arcs and one of most shocking moments. Truly genius!
36:42 Just because his body is “made” of light, doesn’t necessarily mean he can *move* at the speed of light. That’s like saying a lightbulb, which *generates* light, moves at the speed of light. It doesn’t. It only moves as fast as your hand can move.
Ok so about the speed of lighy there are polar oposites in the characters depicting marine admirals for example kizaru is slow in the head a bit and slow reactions which opposes his devil fruit. You'll see later with some other admirals that it goes with them as well.
To be fair Hachi didn't really have plot armour considering chopper is there and we already know that fishmen can take quite a lot of damage compared to humans. Edit: But I still get your point about stakes.
I'd like to point out that at this point in time the straw hats have knowledge of 2 of the 3 ancient weapons one Robin learned about in Alabasta from the poneglyph there and the other in the form of Franky knowing a lot about pluton because he had the blueprint to it for a long period of time.
Just imagine reading the chapter where everyone disappears and then having to wait a week to find out what happened to them. At this point there is a lot of evidence that he can transport people in some way but we have no idea if he sends them to the same place, different ones or where that even would be and if they have a way to come back. That is about as bad of a cliffhanger as the end of the 4kids dub, where the falling ship from skypea is the last image and all you can assume is they got crushed and drowned. Not that I watched that as a kid since I'm from Switzerland and English isn't my native language. But I still heard a bit about that version.
Honestly, I love tragedy as well and I wish there was more of it in One Piece. Mainly, having deaths stick (Pell anyone?) and characters not “cheesing” certain situations.
Oh wow I did expect it to be high but I didn't expect it to be number 1. For me it ranks definitely below Enies Lobby but still pretty high. At least considering the arcs up to now. There are some higher in my opinion but that only highlights the quality the series has overall.
He says its bold to say "ill be the one to find the one piece" to kidd and law... he has no clue, or had no clue, I honestly didn't check when this video was released lol
For me the most devastating part of the Strawhat getting annihilated is Nami and Robin. To Nami Luffy is her savior. He saved her village, he freed her from slavery. and she has been with Luffy for the longest time. She has seen Luffy overcome impossible odds, saved countries and stand tall gainst overwhelming odds. the amount of trust and respect she has for Luffy is immeasureable so what does she do when death is coming for her? in her last moments she turns to Luffy and begs him to save her again as she knows he has done many times before for many people. And Luffy fails. it's heart breaking. Robin has live life full of betrayal and persecution. Luffy waged a war against the worl government just to take her back. he finally has the family she always dreamed off. and not even year later she is ripped away from them. it's like cruel fate, imagine thinking you're cursed your entire life and when things finally looks a little bit good this happens.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that. In her last moments before being erased, Nami begs Luffy for help the exact same way she did in Arlong Park. But this time...he can't help her.
👋Hiya, noticed that this video is being pushed to a broader audience, so first off - welcome aboard, hope you enjoy your stay! 🏴☠️
To clear up a few things I've seen asked so far :
1. I'm dumb and hadn't picked up on which name Kuma usually goes by, so I keep calling him Tyrant a whole bunch. Try to ignore that 😅
I obviously go over parts of them while working on the video, but I may still get something completely wrong or say something stupid simply because I wasn't paying attention or something 😄
Think that's all for now, if you have any more questions for me, don't hesitate to ask!
I've seen Amazon Lily now, and I still don't understand Haki, especially with there being more of it, so I'm not too sure what you mean by that 😅
Though yeah - no spoilers please.

Watch this becoming a plotpoint 600 chapters later
Wow now i'm thinking that smoker is gonna leave the marines to join the strawhats in some way and when he does his cape is gonna fall
I would have preferred if he just admitted he drew them this way because it looked cool.
You can wear a jacket this way
if this isn't a joke for later chapters i'll be fine with it. I mean just look at JJK, "the more i explain my technique the stronger/more effective it gets lol". (Dw, i love both series)
20:00 "Pulling STRINGS to get what he wants" Lmfao that choice of words about Doflamingo is very funny 🤣
The cape boost their HP by 20% and their swag by 40%
Let's do some math.
2m*32000m*20m gives 1280000 cubic meters of ice frozen in around two seconds
To put it into perspective, the entirety of Hangar One is around 80% of that volume, and the weight of that ice would be around 1152000 TONS.
And all of that in a few seconds without even breaking a sweat.
So yes, admirals are pretty strong and heir devil fruits are pretty broken
I like you. xDDDDDDDD

Garp was likely responsible for the marines that surrounded the auction house - they weren't there because of Luffy. It isn't explained but I could see that Garp originally ordered them to simply watch the auction house and inform him if someone who looks like Rayleigh comes out.
Ahh, suppose that makes sense. Just thought the whole "take care of it personally" part meant that he would literally go there himself.
I mean, it’s not that far fetch to think Marine will have some of marine soldier always stay nearby wherever those CD go.
@@StephenN.Parker Because it is simply unthinkable that someone hurts a CD I don't see the marines doing this (not mentioning that the CD will likely make no difference how they treat a marine or common people so the marines are in real danger there). And even if we consider it the troop size should have been way smaller.
@@f.carasind4188
Sure, they don't think anyone will do that to CD, but doesn't mean they don't keep some people near them.
Ok WHAT. The man's a machine. All of them are so unique!

Thats not actually true. Theres no basis for assuming that.
@@emperorluffy6001 idk man Kizaru just seems really spacey all the time. I always got the impression that the whole idea for his character is that he's both incredibly fast and very slow at the same time
@@riceyboi5215 I can see that but thats just moreso him being lazy rather than him being "slow" mentally.
Thats not true at all. Thats just headcanon you've invented.
@@jonnjones8263 ....Those are literally words from Odas mouth. Are you broken? One Piece isnt a "power level" kind of series.
Oda has confirmed that the One Piece will be a physical reward since that would be the only satisfying pay off for this massive journey . Cheese

I can't believe you said " pulling strings " about Doflamingo at 20:00, and you didn't know about his power

@@SolitaryLark I agree but you know how some people in the OP community are
And with this began the beginning to an end
Two years later and we get the answer to how to hit Kizaru.
34:09 it did not infact age like swiss cheese but fine wine
Corection : what destroyed Duval's base was called the Gau Cannon ( bassically the Coup de Burst used as a cannon ) . The Chicken Voyage is just the main of Sunny's figurehead spinning to propel the ship backwards
Cheese
Kizaru having the power of light doesn't really mean he can use it fully, since his powers are limited by his own reaction time, also when he's doing the movement he only goes in straight lines.
Stop spreading misinformation.
@@emperorluffy6001 Which part he said was wrong?
@@speedyweasel681 No he is objectively wrong. He's literally confirmed in the manga to move at lightspeed. lol.
@@lipeeefl Takes a true idiot to apply real world logic to an anime, kizaru literally kicks Hawkins at the speed of light

Some NO SPOILER details and opinions
-About Kizaru, IMO while the fruit changes the body to adapt (look at Alvida) there is a limit, so to me Kizaru is a little like the Tiger Beetle, an insect that is so fast it goes blind and as such will run-stop-run-stop to look where its going. So the combination of Kizaru slowing down by himself and some mantra like ability people can fight him, although its necessary a good amount of power to do so
-About Garp not doing anything, that is his way of dealing with it.
Anyway, forget the cheese everything is about Smiles now
Thats obviously not the case though since Admirals have Observation.
i see what you did there :)
That last thing is so clever holy crap
from my understanding, Oda doesn't like killing off characters unless its very important for the story. he's not like DC, he won't kill off characters for shock value or just to make you cry for a bit and then forget about it, he will only kill off someone if it's absolutely needed for the story.
The only time someone really should have died but didn't was Pell story wise and that was influenced by real world events
The Admirals Coats are just drip. lol.

Kizaru's attacks move at light speed (or at least what passes for light speed in the OP universe) but he himself doesn't seem to have light speed reaction. Heck he might be the physically slowest top tier fighter ever. Note that he sets the attacks and then turns into light for the impact.

If it does, Rayleigh would say this to Luffy ''I miss you old friend''
So far, most people reminded of Roger when they met Luffy. To me it is more because Luffy embodies Roger's traits and personalities. The way how Luffy says he wants to be the Pirate King with happiness and couldn't care less what other people think.
I love your thought on time diallation, now how dose that work I wonder? Oh well you will just have to wait and see.

You don't understand Kizaru's Devil Fruit because you still think that ordinary Human limitations apply to these characters. Get that out of your head. If you're still thinking that Lightpseed should be "untouchable" thats only because you believe these guys are humans.
Yeah I mean Luffy is made of rubber this stuff doesn’t need to make sense.

Welp, too bad.)
Heck, even outside of anime we have the Flash, who has been able to run fast enough to travel through time pretty much from the start. Then there's Sonic the Hedgehog from Archie Comics, who is completely immune to time stopping powers purely because of just how fast he is.
Of all the places to draw the line, I don't think this is it.
bro and they had the bubbles popping after each crew member disappearing just added the cherry on top
This youtuber is AMAZING in noticing things and theorizing. I have mentioned the same in other videos and I'm sorry that I repeat myself, but in every video he blows my mind. Well done.
This time the reason I mentioned this is that he noticed the Donflamingo/Law symbols.
On a side note: All the supernova (Kid, Law, etc) were created from scratch at the last moment by Oda, because he felt that this arc was boring.
obs: you can see the same simbol on whitebeard's medication :)
and the capes are just for visuals lol
This man is approaching peak one piece 🤝 be careful to not read ahead on episode titles on the filler list bc some of them spoil big things enjoy the ride and the mystery
Yup, I'm already avoiding all OPs, episode titles and even the next ons, so I think I should be good for the most part. 👍
@@Koroto that’s good. You should definitely watch most of the openings at some point tho these upcoming ones are my favorite ones
Amazing Video, this arc is so good. I'm so HYPED for your Marine Ford review because in my opinion it's the best arc in one piece
One of the great parts of this arc is how dense it is. So many things going on. So many characters doing their own things. It's like the water 7 arc(pre enies lobby), but turned up to 11.
About the whole moving at the speed of light making you too op in the one piece world. You gotta remember Luffy and Zorro could both move faster than the eye can see at the start of the show
For example for luffy anytime he used gum gum rocket or Zoro when he dissapeard in front of the bounty hunters and they both have gotten much stronger since then
and they are both at this point in time far from the more powerful characters in the one piece world so i hope that gives you an indication that the sheer brute strength that the top dogs have in this world is already reaching broken standards.
Do not forget that Shanks can swim but he is still a yonko
Just wait till he sees white bear 😂
Even powerful characters like other admirals or emperors aren't close to moving at the speed of light, the comparison of Luffy and Zoro moving fast from the beggining doesn't really make the light-speed movement any less op
The reason why the speed of light isn't as broken as he thinks is because of observation haki, but he's still learning about haki, no need to convince him or explain anything
Yeah moving at the speed of light and 90% of anime is not to overpowered
Man your really are smart and notice very small details, can’t wait till you catch up and stuff comes back around.
Brook laughing at Duval and choking while doing so gets me everytime
Your videos are so good it makes me mad that you don’t get that many views you deserve so much more
You don't seem to completely get how Kizaru's DF works.
No it is lightspeed. You fans have come up with rationalizations to explain it away because you don't like it.
Unless you're gonna try to argue that Ace isn't fire. lol.
@@emperorluffy6001 no it's not actually real light
@@bithemit9074 Yes. Yes it is. This is stated. Unless you're also trying to argue that Ace isn't real fire. lol.
42:16 the marines almost lost an admiral
:)
You know the opponent is tough when Luffy the dude who never gives up and usually dives head first into danger tells you to run.
I think kizaru can't move faster than his brain can process. So potentially he can move with a speed of light, but since he can't process this speed he just uses light as weapon.
Thats obviously false.
@@jonnjones8263 bro, hes just trying to make sense out of something which just doesn't rlly make much sense.
"if he could trully use his power to that extent he could just slice rayleight 100 times before he has time to react, period, that's how fast light is"
That argument MIGHT apply if Rayleigh had the reactions of a Normal Human. He doesn't. When are you gonna get it through your heads that none of these characters are normal humans? These are all Superhuman monsters. Our normal human limitations don't apply. Kizaru is Lightspeed and Rayleigh just happens to be able to keep up with him because he's simply THAT strong. Period.
I like how people can accept all these crazy things in fiction, but when it comes to moving faster than light that’s where people draw the line.
In the managa Rayleigh makes his big entrance in chapter 500 exactly !
Cheese
Consider this, you clearly are emotionally invested despite the lack of deaths. Everyone complains about the lack of "stakes", but then watch/read a thousand episodes/chapters.
When he was like "but this makes me think the one piece actually is real" my brain just went "THE ONE PIECE, THE ONE PIECE IS REAAAAL"
I absolutely loved Duval in this arc.
The thing is that kizaru can't think and move at speed of light as he is still a human who depends on his body / nervous system to do his thing
WHY did I find out the existence of this channel only today?! The youtube algorithm is dumb.
Maybe you arrived exactly when you needed to haha.
Welcome aboard! 🏴☠️
Bonnie doesn't like cheese pizza, but she will eat it, and everything else for that matter...
I'd like to point out that at this point in time the straw hats have knowledge of 2 of the 3 ancient weapons one Robin learned about in Alabasta from the poneglyph there and the other in the form of Franky knowing a lot about pluton because he had the blueprint to it for a long period of time.
I’ve never heard anyone talk about Lord Rayleigh before but my god is that a discovery. Especially because his nickname is Dark King Rayleigh
This is, to this day, my favorite arc
Yeah I feel like the cheesey light hearted tone at the start was an excellent example of Oda's masterful writing ^^'
I doubt anybody expected what would happen in such a fun and bubbly place.
Pell’s fakeout death was one of the most frustrating things 😭
Oh wow I did expect it to be high but I didn't expect it to be number 1. For me it ranks definitely below Enies Lobby but still pretty high. At least considering the arcs up to now. There are some higher in my opinion but that only highlights the quality the series has overall.
He says its bold to say "ill be the one to find the one piece" to kidd and law... he has no clue, or had no clue, I honestly didn't check when this video was released lol
35:19 wait, I never noticed the Wanted: ASS poster before...
