It's a cover of ACDCs song. John loved doing this song and really does it justice here. He's so good at everything he does. Loved your reaction, thankyou ❤
This is an extraordinarily high energy performance to give as an encore to a 2 hour concert. Everyone on the stage and in the audience is having an absolute blast. I don't recall ever seeing an orchestra conductor having that much fun, even though they all love their jobs. There's two other tracks from that same concert that together demonstrate just how versatile John is... Help: an emotionally power-packed cover of the Beatles classic. You're the Voice: A defiant anthem full of passion, and John's signature song.
Thank you for your great reaction and appreciation of our Phenomenal Aussie Legend, John Farnham! He is definitely the GOAT with a 6 decade career! Please watch more of this 3 hour live concert, plus any other concert he has done with his awesome band, for the last 4 decades, which was often backed by Symphony Orchestras. They are all incredible. xoxo
A really fantastic reaction, thank you John Farnham’s band with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. I’ve never seen a sympathy orchestra conducted by Dobbs Franks, have so much fun with a rock band 😊
John always knew how to put on a show.and is a living Legend in Australia. Putting his regular band together with a symphony orchestra was just genius. This particular concert was spectacular. He used orchestras during a few of his tours over the years. . But he didn't really need them to make himself sound good, he has always been one of the best live singers in the world. His regular band included the cream of Australian musicians, most of who have worked with him for decades. His average line up included around 10 musicians and back up vocalists on stage with him most of the time. People like Tommy Emmanuel, Brett Garsed, Venetta Fields, Irwin Thomas (Jack Jones), Phil Buckle, Wayne Nelson, who are also famous in their own right. Johns musical director who was also the keys in the band, was the one who directed the concert and coordinated the band and the orchestra. He also also famous as a musical director of several movies and musical theater . All of his concerts sold out huge arenas over and over again. Je is in his 70's now, and was still singing until recently with the same power and in the same key as he did when younger. ❤❤ You should check out some of his performances with out the orchestra...just to see how good both he and his band are.. check out All Our Sons and Daughters m.th-cam.com/video/lygjcLZ9A4I/w-d-xo.html
Whenever reacting to Australian groups and artists, always watch live; the energy that they put into their performance, is the next level. One thing you will notice with John, is that he always has a smile on his face; he gets a buzz out of performing, especially interacting with his fans. A true gentleman and consummate entertainer.
He’s covering AC/DC here, John is a vocal powerhouse. This whole concert is epic. Can you check out John covering a Beatles classic “help” live at this gig
Thing is, all of the artists and orchestra members grew up listening to Aka Daka playing Long Way To The Top......... The song is in their soul and I bet that none of them could actually believe that they were there ! That is how Magic is made !
The John Farnham Band is actually a separate entity to John Farnham himself. They are just an amalgamation of the best and most talented musicians that John and his freinds could get their hands on and all became one giant family. They had a steady base of permanent crew, but many more came and went as either temporary visitors that just happened to be in town at the time and agreed to come play, or those that could only play every now and again due to being with other bands themselves. Many international singers would actually save on their traveling expenses by hiring this band to back them up knowing that they were hiring excellence of the highest caliber when they visited Australia to Tour. Some also came to Australia to Record their albums and would hire the Band for some Sessional work. I have seen the The John Fanham Band credits in some very strange places with other bands and musicans that I wouldnt of thought had anything to do with them.
I discovered Farnsey earlier last year and have been a totally committed fan since, not just of John but also his backing singers and the band. . I really enjoyed reading your detailed info about these amazing people, thank you. I have Farnsey fixes every day - he puts a huge smile on my face! May'24. UK. E❤
I was lucky enough to have been at this concert in 1989 in Melbourne so I guess that a makes me old old old 🙂 The crowd that night was insane, this was before smartphones and social media and it is still one of the most magical experiences I've ever had in my life. I still love John all these years later and have seen him many times in concert over the years It's amazing watching these reactions some thirty five years later from people just discovering Australia's unofficial mascot. Thank you for this raction
Man Thanks for sharing your amazing memory with us here. Good news I will be doing more reactions to his songs. So stay tuned and share your oppinion to everything💪🏿
John Farnham is Australia's, if not the world's, GOAT ! He sings in over twenty genres from this super energetic rock head - banger to gentle ballads and just about everything in between. His amazing gymnastic, big vocal range and ability allow him to do this. John is a consummate, charismatic showman. He is very well-respected and well- loved by his fans, bands and others in the music profession, as he has had a six decade music career, top singles, albums and many sellout concerts and media work.. Please get to know him better by choosing from the many other videos of him on You Tube. Aussies will love that !
Anything by John or Jimmy Barnes is fantastic, and live is always best. There is so much awesome talent in Australia, and If you haven't seen it yet, Kasey Chambers live performance of Eminem's Lose yourself will blow your brain. Easily the best live performance of a cover I've ever seen, and if you think John was working hard, Kasey kills it. She is unbelievably bad ass, but you have to wait for it. :)
I wouldn’t believe this from too many people, but John I do. The story John tells of the kiss is that he's always wary of being pulled into the audience. She had his hand and he kissed her to get closer to get balance and release his hand. You can believe or not, up to you.
@@welderreactor I was just explaining about that bit of the video after your comment on it. I didn’t do it very well for you to respond like that. Sorry.
Fantastic reaction to our wonderful G.O.A.T. John, who can sing any genre; and his fantastic band. Try his anthemic song You're the Voice from the same concert. You will never hear a bad note, and you will never be disappointed with any performance of his. John is also a beautiful, humble, generous human with a fantastic sense of humour, and his mic and mic stand tricks are phenomenal. ❤❤😂😂🎉🎉
I can totally recommend this to you as well. It was recorded almost by mistake as it was his warm up song prior to his actual concert. Accordingly, it's only vocal, no video. But it is worth it to experience it! What a voice he has!!! Dare I say better than the original and that is really saying something. The man is a musical genius!
You need to react to John singing The Beatles' 'Help' from the same concert, and then 'You're the Voice' from it as well. Then there's 'Touch of Paradise', 'When The War Is Over' , and then John singing 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby' with Jimmy Barnes (after that you'll be down the Jimmy and Cold Chisel rabbit hole as well...)
I think that every musician on that stage had the Best time playing this song. The orchestra was having a ball and really rocking out. The Conductor was loving it. John's band and backup singers were fantastic. John, of course, was fabulous.
Please listen to You're the Voice, Touch of Paradise, Bridge over troubled Water, Help, When something is Wrong with my Baby, Please don't ask me, Black Dog, just ro give you a taste of his range and capability to sing any genre. You won't regret it!!
Great ideas for other John Farnham reactions in the comments. John can sing anything... The Beatles - Help, Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. Grenada with Anthony Warlow(Aussie Phantom of the Opera) . And Blackdog by Led Zeppelin (an audio version only). It's awesome. It's best to watch John live & this concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is amazing. Great reaction mate.
I will do my best. To react tp everything you guys comment. And sorry if I miss something. I was just blown away how many people sugested me many of his songs.
I was there dude. This was an encore after a 2 hour concert. He then came back and did another encore of “Help!” The energy they all had after 2 hours was insane.
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time with over 50 years of performing. And Brett Garsed on guitar epic. You should check out John doing”let me out” live, epic guitar solo from Brett in that. Also check out John live doing “chain reaction” it has an epic harmonica solo in it, and John does an amazing cover of “black dog” by Led Zeppelin which he uses as a warm up song. And there’s many many more great music out there from John.
John has a penchant to play around with the microphone stand. If you react to John singing his signature song "You're The Voice" from his concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra; watch out for him tossing the mic-stand into the air, before catching and throwing it across the stage. NOTE: No microphones were injured during this performance.
You definitely now need to react to Black Dog by Led Zeppelin, John with his back-up singers and musicians performed this as a sound check; it is only an audio track, but worth the while.

I think the lyrics really rung true within him. He had fought every battle he had just like the song depicts in the industry.
Well Said...Young Man ...Respect🇦🇺
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is our G.O.A.T John Farnham so much more to discover ❤❤❤
AC/DC never performed this live after Bon Scott died, but they gave John the green light to perform it live.
Definitely an epic way to end a concert. The crowd would have been buzzing for days after an ending like that!
Best singer in the world at this time. John could sing anything.
John packed that venue in Melbourne over 90 times as a solo artist. And that’s just one city in Australia!
John was still singing this at 70 yrs old and still sounded bloody amazing

The conducteder is having a blast so much fun
I just love watching his face, he makes the whole show lol.
AC/DC is an Australian band so its only natural for another Australian to cover their song

Lots more fun for symphony orchestra to play different music than classical
Great reaction to an Australian legend !
