  • Spend a couple days with the members of the All-Taxa Biodiversity Inventory as they explore the historic Follensby Park tract. Ralph Waldo Emerson and a group of friends camped on the pond in 1858 discussing the future of wilderness and what that meant to the peoples of that era. This adventure came to be known as the Philosophers Camp on Follensby Pond, in the heart of the Adirondacks.
Please note: Follensby Pond, owned by The Nature Conservancy, is currently not open to the public. The Conservancy anticipates transferring the property to the people of New York State. Public access will follow that transfer.
