The nature segment on CBS Sunday Morning- absolutely one of my favorite things to watch on tv each week!❤
I used to live off Lake George in Bolton Landing. It was very cold for this Texas girl…but the still quietness and unparalleled beauty of that place in winter was breathtaking.
I lived 1/4 mile from the biggest waterfall in AuSable Chasm for over 28 years. When the ice breaks in the spring it feels like an earthquake. It is very serene, peaceful and beautiful in AuSable Chasm.
The largest wilderness east of the Mississippi, larger than any national park in the lower 48, a legacy to the world from the forward looking people of New York.
All 6.1 million acres of it.
Been my play ground for 18 yrs now.Been lost twice once at night in the winter I climbed a mountain to try and get my bearings and maybe a light only thing a saw was beautiful ice covered mountains shinning like diamonds in the moonlight.i hunkered down for the night got out the next day 7 or 8 miles later.

Been a resident here for ten years. Love it except for the Canadians who are rude,but besides that it's great.

@@carolperczak9938 I understand, still a great body of water, a big pond...swimming in it, back in 60's, cold and felt good on summer days...to be honest, it will probably disappear in the next few generations, become a northern swamp/marsh...I was just remembering my past...sad, the future won't

Nice to see a reply, but for what? Lake Champlain might be considered by some, a pond...to others like me a lake...hasn't dried up, to knowledge, hasn't gone down like lake mead, man made...so my question is, let's talk? Not sure what you mean...
@@carolperczak9938 It is recognized as the sixth great lake by the Federal Government. And has as much or more historic standing then the other five.
Those ravines with sedimentary rock cliffs are spectacular.

Only about half of the 6 million acres is public. The rest is private.
Too bad they didn't include a shot of the falls taken from the highway bridge.
Disappointing. Just says it's Ausable Chasm tourist attraction.
