      The Ioniq 5 isn't even the same demographic as those more premium nameplates so the models people buy of course aren't gonna be as fast as a Jag or Tesla.

      Ioniq 5 sold shit in April as well.
      ioniq 5 = 6244.
      Muck-e = 6734.
      Model X = 7,000.
      Model S = 7424.
      Model 3 = 46,800.
      Model Y = 50,834.
      Ioniq 5 is factually better than ALL non Tesla cars , inc Muck-e , iD4, LEAF, BOLT, mx-30, and SAME as EV6.
      though EV6 only sold 5281.

    We lucky to own both jaguar ipace and Hyundai ionic 5 ultimate edition, my wife drives the ionic 5, I drive the ipace, they are both great cars, but honestly the ipace is way better in quality, refinement, performance and driving experience, we also test drove Tesla model 3 performance, Kia ev6, Audi etron, Mercedes EQ and polestar2. The ionic 5 is serene and spacious but it wallows and rolls and doesn’t feel as sure footed as the ipace at speed, great family car though for coasting around, the jaguar is more thrilling to drive especially on twisty roads and the interior is more luxurious than most the other evs we test drove, it feels special

    Great video! I’ve recently bought an iPace, certainly one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Whilst it’s great off the line. I find the way it goes around corners more impressive. And great steering feel too.

      Just got mine from the dealership after they held it for 3 weeks to replace the charge port. Hopefully we can drive it for several months without more repairs!

    Totally agree that the I-pace is still surprisingly compelling even when compared to the current crop of EVs. Has the perfect balance of design, interior, performance, fun to drive and practicality. Only the Taycan is more fun but it’s far less practical and costs about 30-40k more when similarly equipped.

      Bro, its not worth it. I had one. 2019 I-Pace First Edition. The Jaguar electronic “reliability” is a joke. ended up getting a manufacturer buyback. when it worked, it was awesome. but it spent over 30 days in shop in first year for constant software and electronic issues. caveat emptor.

    I used to work for jaguar, i can safely defend the build quality of the i-pace. The only issue comes from aggressive driving causing extra wear on the wiring harness to the motor

    One race you should try is using the Acceleration Boost on the MYLR. That makes the HP and Torque nearly the same as the iPace. Then the Y will take the launch as well.

      I purchased my acceleration boost on day 3 of model Y ownership.
      It’s refundable! So only an idiot wouldn’t try it.

    I Pace acceleration is far more useful in the real world. Up to legal speed limits (excluding autobahn), I Pace wins every time.

    Should have talked more on the extent of range depletion during the test which is an important consideration with EV’s. If I heard right the Kia only lost 1km battery range which is very impressive.

      The Model Y long range doesn’t have a sports mode. Unless you buy the Acceleration Boost for $2k extra after. You saw “Sports” steering setting which just makes the steering feel heavier.

    Did the Tesla Model Y have the $2000 acceleration package? I bought it OTA upgrade and it was much faster initial launch. You should find out and run test again. 😮

    The bonnet shut line on the I pace is way out and so easy to fix by adjusting the height of the bump stop!

    I honestly thought that the Ionic 5 would have a bigger jump on the Model Y. I own a Model Y and can attest to the fact that the Model Y is completely asleep off the line. Then the speed kicks in.

      I have the model y long range, but it's the slow one. Just got my wife an Ioniq 5 limited htrac, and the model y kicks it's ass in acceleration, but for a long trip I'd choose the Ioniq 5. I don't know how to explain, it's just more relaxing and compliant and overall more comfortable. The cruise control is just so much better and it doesn't mute my music to play a chime everytime I change lanes with autopilot. Heads up display makes a huge difference in comfort as well.

    Idk if you've done it yet but the 2.0T Acura TLX and the Accord 2.0T would be an interesting match up. I think I've only seen the TT V6 one go against the Accord.

    I drive a 2024 Ioniq 5. I love the car, and I love that I will beat 98% of any gas car I come across at a stop light off the line. However, I also rented a Model Y for a week before getting my Ioniq. I know I'm not faster than that car. When I pushed the accelerator in that Model Y, I could physically feel the acceleration in my heart and my lungs. My Ioniq 5 is fast, but it's not that fast.

      I'm pretty sure it did have the boost package. That car in the video had sport steering mode, which isn't on the regular long range(I have a 2022 mylr).

      @@hvn919 I can actually confirm that it doesn’t have the boost pack. They showed the menu at 6:32 in the video and it shows “Chill and Standard” at the top. It would say “Chill and Sport” if it had the boost pack.

    Alot of traditional car makers EV hits plateau in their speed real quick. I feel that on a BMW iX too. Torque is there but it stops pulling hard after 90 100 mph.

    So the Tesla has more range, charges faster and cheaper so what exactly are you crying about the IPace 😂. With the price of the Jaguar IPace you can buy Tesla model Y performance that will basically be skinned that Jaguar cat 😂😂 😆😆😆.

      The Ioniq 5 isn't slow, it's just not as fast as these cars. Which makes sense because it's a lot less money. 15k less than Tesla and 30k less than the Jaguar.

    I just bout the ionic 5 AWD and I luv it 👍🏽👏🏽
    It’s fast and quick but for the most part it roads excellent and very comfortable
    On average I can out perform most cars on the road which is good 👍🏽

    The model y shouldn't have started in slip mode, that's for mud or snow and allows stuck tires to spin. Otherwise, great race

    Great to see an Ontario challenge. But be careful of apples to apples comparisons. The I-Pace is more equivalent to a Model X 90D. And up until the latest Model X, Tesla's are pseudo AWD. As one motor is of induction type they are used infrequently and essentially the Model 3 and Y are RWD and the Model S and X are FWD. Plenty of Tesla Bjorn videos show this. The Model X gets permanent magnet motors for the 2022 model. In snow country, give me a permanent AWD car any day.

      @@maxflight777 Think of a car as a WDM - to those inside and outside of the car. Wouldn't you want every defence mechanism available to assist for the one split second to get you out of trouble. That's all it takes from going straight ahead to do a face plant in to a concrete barrier or colliding with another vehicle. You don't even need snow to do it. There are plenty of dash cam videos with cars yawing back and forth before going face first in to an unmovable object. I've previously driven Audi quattros. Now I have an I-Pace.

    Own Model Y long range but ride comfort is really bad!!! Also Model Y has a lot of rattle sound on interior parts.

    that tesla passes and goes as he would have NOT about 50hp LESS, but about 100hp MORE. Those @500lbs lighter weight did not makes that difference at that speed AT ALL! There's some issues with jaguar, or that tesla is way lighter (why those very BLACK windows?)

    The Ioniq 5 is missing the top trim they are planning for a N version of the Ioniq that rumors say that it will have around 500hp like the Kia EV6 GT

    He really tries to convince himself that the ipace is a great car. Even if the Tesla is faster, better tech/UI, much more luggagespace, cheaper and almost twice the range...etc etc😄

    Just like with gas cars there are different car classes and I think people are forgetting that with EVs. The Tesla and Jag are luxury/premium nameplates they are meant to be more performance oriented. Hyundai and Kia are still Hyundai & Kia so they want to target the avg. person so this isn't surprising. I'd say the ID.4, Ioniq 5, EV6, BZ-4X, Solterra & Nissan Ariya are all in the traditional segment. Then the Mustang Mach E is like a performance based EV Crossover so it also is can compete with the Jag & Tesla in higher trims but stop comparing everyday EVs to Tesla only luxury nameplates are going for Tesla.

    It would be interesting at what speed the Tesla catches up. I think I-Pace would be better on twisties than Tesla and probably Ioniq 5 as well.

    I don’t think publicity is the jaguars downfall…I think it’s the fact that the car cost about 20k…20k.!!!!more than the ioniq…all that for a slightly quicker quarter mile? No thank you

    It looks like the Jag is faster than the Tesla from 0 - 60. Top speed for the i-pace = 124 Top speed for Tesla Model Y = 135

      Lancia integrale was my fav rally car back in the day, what a car. If i could afford cars from this price range would always go with Tesla, safest car in the world, family first.. also quickest and smarter than the comp, already most sold car in europe
