    My kit includes a grandfather clock for telling the time. A sofa for when I want to sit. And my 42" tv. It's very minimal.

      Andrew Leightell Would love to see that setup on your bike. I’m trying to picture it. Backpacks? Trailer? Probably a single track trailer, no?

    Thanks so much. Most people's bikepacking videos that I see I'm not seeing how they would fit everything. Particularly a sleeping bag, pad, tent, and then the minimal other essentials. I the way you break everything down helps a bunch. I'm a hammock guy so I have a top quilt and under quilt. I can't wait to take my first bike trip. I got the route all planned out in the allegheny national forest in Pennsylvania.

      Thanks for the comment. I'm experimenting with a hammock setup as well. It's rather discouraging especially when certain campgrounds don't let you hang even with straps. I suppose if you are in remote trails, nobody will tell you not to.

    For a great light, attach it to a seat stay. Works great.

    Not until you lay it out flat do you see how much stuff you can fit on a bike in this fashion.
    A chair? That's luxury! I thought I was going mad when I started carrying an inflatable sleeping mat but it's just what the body wants at the end of a day's riding.

    I'm thinking of doing this when Santfa Dam has overnight fish derby this summer..

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Should come in handy to be able to carry your gear and spend time overnight with it.

    You really should carry all your tools and spares in the same location.

    I have that hydration pack you forgot the hip belt pockets. I think that's a way better place to keep your cliff bars. I personally really like hard granola bars honey oat in one pocket and some gels in the other.

    • @coreybeaty8528
      @coreybeaty8528 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      that way you don't have to take it off to grab a quick snack and keep fueled for the ride out on the trail.

    What type of harness do you have on the front bar? that hold your tent and chair?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are the Revelate Handlebar Harness.

    Okay bikepacking just bags on your bike carries the stuff that's the same as Brax you're just going frameless cuz some backpacks have frames some have soft frames some have no frames this is a frameless system just like a Daypack soft no frame but if a military or a heavy 85 to 100 L backpack has a frame in it and then again they should be using cargo bike which AR whole new category of themselves

    Sir please help me to find out where was your first aid kit?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a standard hikers first aid kit. I bought mine at REI. If you're in the US, you can get it here - bit.ly/3o6sOr3.

    I would switch out the hydration pack for a lighter colored one so you don't have warm water if your in the sun for awhile

    Have you actually used the nylon spoke yet? How does it hold up?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually kevlar not nylon. I've used it to repair a friend's wheel and it held up for 40 miles to the bike shop. Now it comes with me on all tours.

    so do you prefer panniers or saddle bag? what more usable?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hate to say it but it all depends. For long epic trips that are multimonth on only paved roads, panniers are much better! Saddle bags are great for the offroad or even quick overnight trips.

    Thanks. Enjoyed the video. Wonder if your thoughts on the Revelate seat bag? Any swaying issue? Happy New Year. Iz

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swaying hasn't been a problem for me. Of course, the style of riding that I do doesn't lead to much swaying. At least not that I noticed.

    what's your trick to attaching the anything cages to your fork?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zip ties have been working for me but I'll be upgrading to pipe clamps with some inner tubes to protect the fork.

    What do you bring for food?

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually pick up something from the market if I'm near civilization or a cold sandwich/burrito.

    So Global so what is it you do for work if you don't mind me asking....
    And I ask only because I really enjoy your videos and I get the impression that you do a lot of cycling when traveling or touring whatever and yeah so I can just send the impression you work while you're touring and I'm always interested in what people do for work while they tour because it would be easier for me if I could generate an income will I toured and blah blah blah thank you very much and I look forward to your reply

    You can lose at least 10lbs of weight off your bike carried stuff. Better to put on racks with the weight on the axles rather than the stress in the stem and seat post. So much in needed stuff.

  • @greywhite
    @greywhite 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    i havent done this yet, but compared to other peoples kit your carrying things in the wrong places and too many un-neccesary items sorry

    • @Milestonerides
      @Milestonerides  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks for the input. I'm just sharing my own packing methods. I don't think there's a right or wrong way of packing and if it isn't like what other people are doing, I'll learn in my own terms. I've always been learning by doing so this isn't any different. My packing methodology will change so this isn't going to be set in stone.

      How is there a right way or a wrong way? that's a ludicrous comment.It's like me telling you you have to listen to the same music as me because if you do not then you cannot possible be enjoying it.

    You bring a stove/cook kit but no food other than a Clifbar? You "pick up something from the market"? Where then do you put what you picked up from the market? This is bogus. I wouldn't trust this guy's advice. What he's packing for is village to village Euro touring not true trail riding bikepacking.

      Hey Sam. Thanks for your message. I'm just sharing what I do. You obviously don't need to trust it or not. This is just what I am doing. Not stating that I am an expert in any way. Thanks again for visiting my channel.
