    You are going to be in a buggy area and possibly facing some wet and windy weather. For me - I would lose the tarps and replace with a 1-man tent with bug netting. Sleep and staying dry is so important. Just my thoughts, lots of people go with tarps.

    Just saw your video. Informative and well thought out kit. Small head torch?

      I ended up taking one, and it was incredibly useful when in a super muddy campsite!

      +Solo Bikepacker Thanks! I hear it's an essential when in Scotland!

    I would have left the blow up pillow out (use clothes in a stuff sack) and slept in a good insulated jacket, therefore making the sleeping bag & liner redundant too. But horses for courses 🙂

    Antiseptic wipes. Essential to keep your bits happy if you're going au naturel... Just bought a numo myself so reassuring that you found it warm. Would you have been OK with just the mat, bivvy and liner or was the sleeping bag essential?
    When's the big ride?

      On one test camp it would have been completely fine, but another in Dartmoor, and one night in Scotland it was really cold especially and definitely needed the sleeping bag.

    Awesome. Tubes, pump, patches, boots if a tire tears? I look forward to seeing the footage.

    Hi mate really interesting in how lightweight you went, what did you do about charging etc?

    • @TheAverageCyclist
      @TheAverageCyclist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think bike and all gear came to about 10kgs in the end. For charging I used a massive 20,000mah anker battery and a small 3000mah battery (check amazon). More than enough when charging properly when possible. Could have knocked more weight off by sacking off a few things. I would recommend doing a few days with your gear first (I did two separate 1 nighters) and you’ll soon see what you don’t need. I binned quite a few bits en route.

    How did it go? Do you now carry a bog roll?

    • @TheAverageCyclist
      @TheAverageCyclist  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carried bog roll for sure. It was really good mate. My knees have only just recovered, but looking back I loved it.

    What are you doing for food and where are you storing it?

    • @TheAverageCyclist
      @TheAverageCyclist  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mainly ate at pubs and cafes, and stored snacks etc in an apidura top tube bag, or alpkit lodo. Also strapped sandwiches and things to my rear pack. John O'Groats to Land's End August 2017th-cam.com/video/7vWPrH2T2hk/w-d-xo.html
