- Get the recipe for this delicious potato kugel here! www.kosher.com/... You might say there's nothing quite as good as a warm, slowly-baked, fresh out of the oven potato kugel. Well, this hand-grated, pan-fried potato kugel will make you forget all about that. And trust us, for best results, eat it right out of the pan!
Yossi, ask the channel to either turn down the music or better yet leave it out all together to you can be heard better.
This dish is quite similar to a traditional dish we have in Lithuania called Kugelis. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Maybe one region adapted it from the other. Even the name is similar.
He achieves such a beautiful, brown consistency on the outside. I can tell it smells really good. Dying to try this.
I’m converting to Judaism, and I’m learning about kosher cooking. This channel is a huge help! I want to please HaShem, and eating kosher is just one of the ways to do that. I always thought kugel was a pasta dish? I’m assuming this is a variation of kugel? I want to make this though, and eat it with some roasted chicken. 🤤🤤🤤
different kinds of kugels, noodle kugel, potato kugel, broccoli kugel, carrot kugel sweet kugel, savory kugel :-)
So enthused! I love that excitement haha, I'm excited from just watching your excitement Yussi!
I've never had kugel (not a Jew), but this looks really, really good. Potatoes, eggs, onion, salt, pepper, crispy, YUM!!
Sooo creamy. Yummmm!
This is nothing more but giant potato pancake ;) Needs some onions and garlic and your mouth will be in heaven.
The only thing that's missing is sour cream :) Greetings from Lithuania!
I heard a serie from.netflix.its name is Shtisel. While I was watching I heard the name of this receipt. And I found you..thank you for this.delicious receipt.it looks very easy and nice.I will absolutely try it here .👍🙏
Oh wow so you don’t drain the water from potatoes!? This is fascinating, ty 🤗
This looks so delicious.
אחד הקוגלים יוסי ישר כוח!
I’m soooooo going to try this! Thank you for sharing! ❤
I love simple, wholesome, and timeless recipes. Is there a way to transfer the mix to the pan without having it spit and sputtering everywhere?
i've always been told to squeeze the water out of the potatoes and onions to get a crisp kugel. this looks interesting, but too soupy for me, and while you got nice browning, it's too soft. But i guess everyone has different house style
Add 1/3 of flour
I think you are thinking more of potato latkes. When you squeeze the water out of the potatoes don't throw away the water. Let the starch settle then pour of the water. Mix the starch back into the potatoes. Also don't use as fine a grate as in this recipe; you want some soldi potato to bite into. This recipe looks good too though.
Now I just need two same size frying pans.
spectacular
Yum!
How do you keep the potatoes white?
I love being Jewish
Me to ❤
You can buy a special pot which you can flip easier
Shalom! We love Kugel
With a big dollop
Of homemade apple sauce … it’s the savoury and the sweet that just pairs so well. What oil did you use? EVOO or canola? Oh wish.. you probably have it written down in the link… my bad.
Come cook for me and teach this grandma what u know , please ,in fla
This is definitely how potato kugel should be made. Thought my grandmother was the only one with this recipe.
yep, thats how I do it. Lotsa grinding but best
Luv the recipes. Great video l!!
Is it usually baked? Looks so easy to make and so delicious too
Baking it is easier.
A hot oven is a must. Also, pour heated oil on the top; do not mix in
Just like Bubby makes it!
Would it not be better to take the starch out of the potatoes?
I love your accent :)
I can’t lie Jewish food looks so bland to me, but very comforting.
No onions?
I want to try this recipe, but WOW, this guy's heat tolerance is way above mine. If steam is coming off the food, indoors, it's going to turn my tongue to rubber for four days. I'd love to just dig in like that, but I'm always the person in the group who's like, "No no, it looks and smells delicious! I just have to wait ten minutes and then I promise I'll catch up to you!"
Those KFC commercials where they show all the steam coming out of a freshly-broken fried chicken-8th is a turn-off for me, because I'm only thinking about the burns. And I actually really really like KFC. Just... I like KFC ten minutes after it comes out of the fryer, is all.
Where can i get the exact recipe measurement
You can find the ingredients listed below the video here: www.kosher.com/video/kugel-just-like-bubby-used-to-make-114
Not seen a kugel this runny before ?
Nice bracha.
yeah, what's up with that? I didn't hear one at all ..
Do you think this would work with sweet potato?
I see he likes some potato with his oil
That's it? No meat or more vegetables? Not even butter or gravy?
Traducción al castellano.PLEASE.
I hate the two-camera technique where the picture we see is of the person talking to a different camera, so that they're not looking at US, like at 0:24. It's annoying.
AIDELE ZE LO KUGEL ZE BULBASE KASHA))))))))))))
Too much oil
I like you…but that looks like major mush….. 🥰
he used too fine a hole-side on the grater
it turned into a mush
a very mushy, soggy mess
Okay so this channel is my new favorite thing ever.
did you put a tablespoon of flour .No ! that's why it fell apart on your plate 👌
Or potato starch if it's pesach
Thank you for sharing this authentic Yiddish kugel! My family is from Poland near the Vistual River. Greetings from Oregon!
The outside is cooked..but there is NO way the inside is cooked. It must be baked in the oven. Theres just no way
That looks so delicious. Can't wait to try the recipe.
God bless you
I am delighted I found this recipe! Will be making it for Shabbos! Thank you!
Hope you enjoyed
Wonderful. What an adorable kitchen you have. Please forgive me if I dare to ask you how much such a paradise like kitchen costs. I would be overjoyed about an answer of an approximate price.
60,000
@@eliblum9461 Thank you so much for your friendly answer.
60.000 US $, I assume?
Hi Yossi, great demonstration (G'Shmak!) I always drain the starch out of the potatoes, have you heard of that...and does it make a difference in the taste or texture to leave the starch in? Thanks for a great video, I'm subbing to you and checking out your other videos.
if you squeeze out the water into a bowel the starch will remain after you pour the water part out scoop it up and put it back or add a tablespoon of flour . his kuggel was a little loose
Looks delicious but need better instructions on temps and measurements
Noted! The recipe linked in the caption of the video can provide more guidance for you as well!
I’ll cook that next Friday for Shabbath
We'd love to hear how it went!
Looks raw
Beautiful and simple could it be done as a yapchikbkugel with the same execution? תזכו למצוות!
Love this , it’s my childhood :) Do you have a link on where to buy both pans? Amazon? Thanks so much and Shana tova 🍎🍯🍷
How many potatos? 5 pound bag?
9 potatoes. you can get the recipe on our site! www.kosher.com/shows/video/114/kugel-just-like-bubby-used-to-make
So Yumm!
what potatoes are best for kugel?
Yussi suggests Idaho potatoes!
@@user-qw3hj3uh5nIdaho is not a variety of potato. Russet, Yukon Gold, White, Yellow, New, etc.?
@@deepermind4884 Idaho is another name for Russet potato, commonly used in the US. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russet_potato#:~:text=A%20russet%20potato%20is%20a,potatoes%20in%20the%20United%20States.
