- Today I'll be reviewing AutoArt's newest release; it is of the 1/18th scale Mad Max 1 Interceptor "Tuned Version" (Ford Falcon XB) . I was really excited to be able to get one of these cars and open it to check out and do a quick "first impressions" review. they are expensive ,but they are beautiful, and they have so many details, great video

Im saving money to buy one of this Autoart 1/18 , way better than Greenlight , way expensive too , but is worth it!!!
I'm in Australia and got one a month ago on an eBay auction for $209AU. I guess that's about $140 US. All the others I've seen are twice that so there are some bargains out there
That model is simply stunning in everyway.. its my favourite version the original.

Correction I incorrectly called the bonnet vents and or scoops spoilers sorry
THE AA version is super nice, just needs some after marker vinyl decals MFP fender bagges and white MFP license plate logo. i waited and just picked up the limited edition1/18 GL it has the white letter BF GOODRICH RADIAL T/A tires, it needs some paint detailing, im thinking about putting LED lights in the GL version since the trunk and hood dont open.could use some carpet flocking, gloss black wheels,window trim repaint, and it will be really nice for the 63.95 i paid for it. im going to buy the AA 1/18 mad max 1 version next and apply the missing decals and thats probably all i will do to it, the wheels do look either semi gloss or gloss black in the first film, i don't know why they left them flat black? the rear side marker reflectors are upside down on the AA version, i have a ton of street and race biante & classic carlectables XA-XC Falcons and i dont know why AA missed that detail.sweet video i have the GL first interceptor as well yellow. RWB XB SEDAN that car looks really nice for the price.my only gripe with it is it could of came with a trunk cb antena and chrome tips for the exhauhst.
Still have my first release version of the original...wish I had room to get the tuned one.
Expensive, but worth it. And it will hold its value. I had to got one. I might sell my mad max 2 version car now.
I wish they had released this version before the mad max 2 version. Because i wouldn't have bought the mad max 2 version.
I've seen someone on ebay selling 1/18 greenlight mad max cars with working lights and siren. And some were weathered. Loked great
I know; I never understood why they made the MM2 version first. I need to put mine back to the orig. MM2 look now that I have the MM1 version. I have the gL version but forgetting to do a side by side comparison video etc. w/ it. Hopefully here soon!
Did you ever get around to converting your Mad Max 2 Interceptor back to its original state ?

It's too bad you didn't get your hands on the limited versions that had all the accessories, like the interior matching the movie, the dog, knife, cans of Dinki-Di etc.

lol, we keep our money separate so she never asks me anything... normally. She thinks most of this stuff is like $10, she has no clue. When I keel over she'll prolly sell off my collection for a few hundred bucks. lol

Hello, Yes the GL car has a few problems but its not bad for the $! I do want to do a video here soon comparing the two side-by-side so people shopping can see the differences etc. I do LOVE the GL interceptor logo they out on the front fenders; it is super accurate and looks great!
Strange that the MFP emblem isn't on the front quarter panel and there's nothing on the front or rear plates. I brought decals for mine on eBay for about $12

Yeah, but in yours we cant see s*it...This one is better.

Very cool, you won't be disappointed! I hope to print some up, so I'll keep you posted. I use Testors decal paper and it seems to work well.

Oh, I want one so bad, but it's so expensive! I may have to settle for the cheaper GreenLight version.
Rear suspension looks movie-accurate to me, though: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/roadwarrior/images/7/72/V8_int_1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130127045821 As far as I can find out regarding the customization process, there were no suspension modifications done to the base vehicle.
Yea, I'm kinda torn on the rear's stance... The more I look at the hero car pics from 1979, I'd say AA most likely has it pretty darn spot on, even the movie flip flopped rear side marker lamps (w/ red on top amber on bottom).
Petty good pricey i but top quality car,but getting rid of all the silly mad max bits,would give a decent Falcon Boss 351
Great model .Great review too ..I love real Falcons too of course...I currently own an AU Futura and an FG XR6 .. Also had an XB utility , XE car , EF car , BA Fairmont car and the two I have now..All great.. Do you plan on trying to get the MFP 4 door patrol car if it's available too ?...If Auto Art did them , they'd be stunning too and as the real Falcon Highway Patrol cars of that era were not too dis similar it'd be great. Here's a short vid of the XC Falcons in real police trim as well as a Chrysler Charger and a couple of others historic cop vehicles and one of the very late model real Highway Patrol cars th-cam.com/video/bVjCQTL6jCU/w-d-xo.html .Slowly now the Ford and GM HWP cars are being phased out ...Really sad ...
