This was another follow up story on the Mad Max museum, it aired on the Today show in Australia (26-Oct-2009), although it looks like it was originally for Sky or another UK network.
Really sad Mad Max Fury Road never shot at Broken Hill after going out there to find the place totally green and muddy. For the few months we were out there working there were some fantastic places to visit. Just so peaceful and beautiful. I wonder if those huge runways that were installed on the Mundi Mundi planes are still there many years after the Fury Road rehearsals.
Wouldn't Coober Pedy have been another local area to film Fury Road at too before filming abroad? It's mostly desert and they did film Beyond Thunderdome there.
Ah, the silverton pub. My brother had his wedding reception at the pub, organised by our uncle Ken who was Broken Hill council general manager at the time. A great day. Have a nice day and ciao for now
They cost around $90,000 and there are 2 companies that currently make them to MOVIE specifications with fake blower motors. One is in Perth , Australia , and the other is somewhere in the USA. Google "Mad Max Cars" and their websites come up !
WOW!!! That is probably the most accurate clone of the Interceptor I have ever saw!!! If I ever go to Australia I have to stop by this guy's museum!!!!
yes , your talking about a dynamic type compressor , totally different than what the Mad Max car has . It has a Roots type blower , which is positive displacement . The inside is like worm gears , if they don't spin , there is no flow through it .
Gotta hand it to you mate great car and dog you have done the best ive seen in years fantastic live your your dream mate they were the best films ive seen still good today
There is a little town about 8 miles down the road from me called Evans City Pennsylvania that has a fellow that has a deep love for The Living Dead films by George Romero. He has a little museum in a store there with a store that sells t-shirts and DVD's.....and this guy sort of reminds me of that fellow. The place is a total labor of love, but if you are a true Living Dead fan and live close to Pennsylvania it is worth checking out.
I read about this Guy in a Britsh newspaper years ago ! - We were taking about mad max in the Pub before xmas & I mentioned this guy to my mates who didnt beleive me - Well here it is - I can prove it now I'm from Bradford too he might know the Pub -Shoulder of Mutton - A Sam Smiths pub in town centre -As a 18 year old We used to rent VHS tapes - We would watch movies at the weekend - Mad Max was a favorite - If there was nothing new released worth watching we'd rent Mad Max again for our after pub veiwing !
FUCK YEAH!!! I was out there a few years ago, and I looked up alot of those people involved in the films. I'm so glad Chris cleared the Pokey machines away from the wall of pictures! When I was there, half of them were blocked. BTW- Next time anyone goes out there, tell the barmaid you want to take the' Silverton Challenge'. It's worth it!
i mostly think people who obsess and invest their life to a movie, are pretty much weak and shallow. THE EXCEPTION BEING THE ROAD WARRIOR .... great report BTW
@xbfalcon351coupe what does it matter really, you can't have a switch that "activates" a roots type blower anyways, so that detail in the film itself was totally inaccurate.
So what's the latest on the 4'th movie?, has the filming been done or started yet or has it been delayed ?. I 'm a HUGE Mad Max Fan and i haven't heard a thing about it.
@IXIGaryIXI no, you can't switch a roots type supercharger on and off like that, thats totally fictional. Without the supercharger spinning no air flows through it , so the engine wouldn't even be able to run. Thats why when you see race cars snap a blower belt the engine instantly dies.
End of clip... the question everybody whose read anything about the mythology of the V8-interceptor... was that switch actually hooked up to disengage the blower?!
F#$%ing A! This dude is literally "Living the dream". Good for him! I like HIS Last V-8, as is, dirty/slightly rusty, even better than if it were brand sparkling new. Damn it.....now I want to watch Mad Max/The Road Warrior (again). Beyond Thunderdome was on earlier today, and although a really good movie, I like 1 & 2 better. This video gave me a craving to see the movies again. So, I think I will. :-) BTW, can't freak'n wait to see the 4th flim! Wonder if Mel will be in it?
I remember as a kid watching it got scared when the guy lost his hand..now one if the best films ever made..but they should never of smashed the ford falcon XBGT coupe best looking car
At least they didn't use the real interceptor for that scene... They used another car, which is good considering the XB GT is so rare these days, at least the original is still out there!
No ... there are many great Aussie actors who would play the role well, it is an Australian film set in Australian outback ... we'll stick to Aussies thanks.
that blokes still passionate saw him a week ago loved his museum
hopefully when I have enough money and go to Australia I should find the museum because it's one of my favourite films ever. all thanks to this man!
2 dislikes? must be the ghosts of the knightrider and the toecutter

The big companies fkd over the director/ producer real bad thats why it unfortunately wasn't filmed as it should've been
A trick : watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Jairo Bjorn yup, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :D
@Jairo Bjorn yup, been watching on flixzone} for years myself :D

I live in the USA and that place looks like the coolest place on Earth as far as I'm concerned. I can only dream of going there some day.
"Fan who's risked his life... savings" nice place to put a pause in!!! :)
Amazing dedication! what a guy to invest his life in the MMII film.
Ah, the silverton pub. My brother had his wedding reception at the pub, organised by our uncle Ken who was Broken Hill council general manager at the time. A great day. Have a nice day and ciao for now

"thats a great sound of a monday morning isnt it?"
He lives my dream life! Lol!😀
I hope he liked Fury Road.
The original now lives in a museum in the states. Texas I think. It was in Cars to the Stars in the UK but that has since closed.
Love it , been there , and going back very soon
I love the interceptor i grew up with mad max movies great great 😎😎😎❤❤❤❤
Man seeing that XB beast running with the red dirt around and long straight hwy's bring back memory s...
He scared the fuck out of me when he pulled the covers and the dummy was in the car, I jumped back like 6 feet
I think it was the ghost of Johnny the Boy and Bubba Zanetti. The toecutter and the knightrider weren't killed by Max, they died in traffic accidents.
Damn, the Interceptor without the front end at 2:07 actually looks pretty cool
WOW!!! That is probably the most accurate clone of the Interceptor I have ever saw!!! If I ever go to Australia I have to stop by this guy's museum!!!!
excellent ,what a beautiful dayyy :)

27 in Brisbane, 19 in Sydney, 15 in Canberra...
Man, I didn't know Australia was so chilly!
Yeah, filming MMII in January(?) through April(?(roughly)) of '81, they had a lot of blankets on the performers when they weren't on camera.
I've Been to Silverton and Maryborough
Gotta hand it to you mate great car and dog you have done the best ive seen in years fantastic live your your dream mate they were the best films ive seen still good today

not trying to sound critical - but his interceptor's an automatic!? (look at last scene where he's hitting the blower switch) bit inaccurate...

Cool
Nice build on the Interceptor! Can you build one for me?
Just a question of money. How fast do you want to go?
@IXIGaryIXI no, you can't switch a roots type supercharger on and off like that, thats totally fictional. Without the supercharger spinning no air flows through it , so the engine wouldn't even be able to run. Thats why when you see race cars snap a blower belt the engine instantly dies.
the last of the V8 interceptors
That's badass
Aaaaaahhhh mas eu vou nesse museu um dia, ora se vou...A réplica vou comprar nos EUA!

Parabéns pelo trabalho parceiro
I heard it was supposed to be Heath Ledger as Max's son but, of course, that won't happen.
does anyone know the type of car from the bad guy? 1:51
At least they didn't use the real interceptor for that scene... They used another car, which is good considering the XB GT is so rare these days, at least the original is still out there!
KilljoyS60 the car was an original falcon 500 not GT this pissers me of when people say its GT
まだ劇中車が存在すること自体凄すぎる
