People saying RE2 looks “better” are comparing apples to oranges, and neglecting to mention the ways in which RE4 remake looks better. Fidelity isn’t the only aspect that should be considered. RE4 has an insane level of environmental detail and storytelling in all of its indoor and outdoor environments. It also has destructible environments, advanced weather and fog effects, much smarter enemy AI, and up to 15 or more enemies on screen at once. RE2 typically had more condensed and “cleaner” looking indoor environments, whereas RE4 is focused on making areas feel lived in and inhabited, which helps with environmental storytelling, player choice, and replay value. Each game has a different aesthetic and approach, so they’re going to be designed differently to accommodate that. Having way more enemies on screen with aggressive AI makes things a little bit trickier. I personally prefer the folkloric, Gothic/ Victorian art direction of RE4 remake.
@Matthew Zang it all comes down to preference. For myself, the series best environments remain the Spencer mansion, RPD, and Racoon city itself. Was never a fan of the rural dilapidated towns of re4, 5, 8, and even the swamps of 7. It's way past time the series returned to the urban dystopia of a fallen city environment. It's funny because many newer RE fans that are gonna play 4 after Village may now find it redundant since that game borrows so many concepts from re4. A village, castle, horde fights, etc. Also, I'm not sure what version of re2 you've played, but the RPD in the remake is filled with highly detailed environments and is easily now the best environment of the series imo. The only thing that could give it a run for its money is if re1 gets a remake in the re engine. But if the shacks of re4 get you hyped, more power to you.
Dude! We haven't seen something like this in a while for a big AAA release. A full week before release the reviews are all out??? CAPCOM is EXTREMELY confident in this game! Gotten used to last minute reviews trying to hide unfinished games...

Even without that disclaimer at the beginning, you could already tell by most of the "reviews" all using the same exact snippets of footage. I'm not a fan of this practice. Publishers are basically dictating the terms under which their product is to be publicly scrutinized. How can that possibly go wrong... Soon, we are going to be wondering how we ended up in a situation where traditional reviews are a thing of the past, and actually attempting to do one will get you in some serious 'legal' trouble. This is exactly how it happens.
People seem to forget that Separate Ways was never included in the original Gamecube version. It was added to the PS2 version. I'm sure Capcom will make it available via paid DLC.
The only RE4 Remake review that matters. I think this is the first 10 I've seen handed to a game by the Allies, so if I wasn't already excited for RE4make, now the hype I feel is up by a thousand percent. Glad to hear Capcom is still killing it with the RE stuff.
Having recently replayed the game, I noticed the Island section ramps up the action despite the stiff controls being limited. Which makes getting through these sections very annoying at times. The infamous WATER ROOM is beatable, but a real pain to deal with (especially on Pro Mode). Again, another section that smacks you around cause of stiff dated controls. The Village and Castle section are clearly the best parts in the game. I hope Capcom can solve the issues many have with the island section (which isn’t bad, but could be improved for sure). Better controls/movement will definitely help in this high action section. Capcom has said they will flesh out the characters more which I’m very happy to hear, given how the original feels a bit one dimensional in regards to it’s characters.
This is my favorite game ever, and having just finished the remake, I am absolutely thrilled by what they did. There are a couple things I wish they had kept. but that doesn't take away from how masterfully they updated the game for the modern generation.

Good to know the game is great. Although I'm bump out separate ways is not included as a package and would have to be bought separately on a later date.
It's slowly creeping back to being action with daft suplexes etc which is the whole reason why it was criticised in the first place. Hope it leans a bit further into horror this time round. That said I'm looking forward to playing it!
By far my biggest question is whether they kept the exclusive special upgrades for each gun that made them viable for the whole playthrough, or is it more like re8, where each gun is progressively better
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Capcom has not become some scummy microtransaction, lootbox, live service driven company looking to squeeze all the money out of you, and GENUINELY are still making complete fantastic games?
For me, one of the best things about this remake is the way in which unlockables work. These past five RE games have made the loop of playing through every difficulty and story, again and again, simply a joy (despite some frustration here and there). I've finished this game 4 times already, and I still want to keep playing and replaying.
I still find it strange that they didn't do Code Veronica first. RE4 was still easily available and very playable, while Code Veronica was not. Also CV is much closer in terms of setting to RE 2 and 3.
@@EasyAllies Not because he gives out high scores. Because it's RE and even more specifically RE4. I know the hype can't be contained. No disrespect. Can’t wait i hope they announce separate ways & assignment ada
I was getting the game regardless, but excellent review as always.
Only downside is the cut content and having to god knows how long for mercs mode
And different Merchant voice 😞 (But still going to buy it at a high price)
Cut content? Give me a break... this game is a 15-18 hour playthrough.
@@mrpussinboots4252 they cut U3 and some rooms, but not a deal breaker for me. I hope they say something soon about separate ways too
@@joaolima7131 The game is still just as length as the original, so one cut boss is negligible.
@@mrpussinboots4252 assignment Ada and Separate Ways isn’t in the game.
That’s cut content
Good to know the game is great. Although I'm bump out separate ways is not included as a package and would have to be bought separately on a later date.
It's slowly creeping back to being action with daft suplexes etc which is the whole reason why it was criticised in the first place. Hope it leans a bit further into horror this time round.
That said I'm looking forward to playing it!
without spoiling anything does the line "sounds more like an alien invasion if you ask me" make it into the game?
By far my biggest question is whether they kept the exclusive special upgrades for each gun that made them viable for the whole playthrough, or is it more like re8, where each gun is progressively better
the exclusives are there.
I vaguely think I remember what you're talking about
It looks incredible, 2023 keeps delivering!
LEON:Where's everyone going? bingo?
ME:😄😁🤣🥰😍
Can we just take a moment to appreciate that Capcom has not become some scummy microtransaction, lootbox, live service driven company looking to squeeze all the money out of you, and GENUINELY are still making complete fantastic games?
For me, one of the best things about this remake is the way in which unlockables work. These past five RE games have made the loop of playing through every difficulty and story, again and again, simply a joy (despite some frustration here and there). I've finished this game 4 times already, and I still want to keep playing and replaying.
This is going to be so good!
I can't watch the review until I play it but I did peek at the score and it's what I hoped!
I still find it strange that they didn't do Code Veronica first. RE4 was still easily available and very playable, while Code Veronica was not. Also CV is much closer in terms of setting to RE 2 and 3.
Another bloody good review! Can not wait for release day. 🎉
This is so hype! 10/10!??! I can't wait to watch the full playthrough!
when this got announced i was so hyped but the closer it gets released my worries get bigger and bigger somehow... i can not explain it
did you play the demo?? its gonna be amazing just wait and see
Why it cannot be next week already?!
Please tell me they didn’t cut the Regeneradors
Every big release I have my top two reviews I jump to, ACG and you guys. The rest are just white noise.
As soon as I saw Michael Huber I knew what the score was
How's that? He's only given one 10 before in his life. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies Not because he gives out high scores. Because it's RE and even more specifically RE4. I know the hype can't be contained. No disrespect.
Edit: To be even more specific: I know the game is going to be great, I know Huber will be honest (won't rate low just to avoid 10), and I know how hyped he must be. This combination only has one outcome unless he can give it an 11.
holy shit 10 im gonna buy the game now
What date does the embargo lift so you can stream the game?
Our stream starts Thursday. -Bloodworth
