When playing the demo, it's funny that the most "suspense" i felt was actually during the last cutscene, waiting to know if Leon would say the Bingo line. Then after a prolonged moment... he finally did, and my confidence in the project went even higher
I said the exact thing! When playing the demo I was full of anxiety when the bell ringing scene started and after the last NPC went into the church my heart sank because he didn't say the line. But then Capcom pulled a fast one with epic timing! Man, I laughed and clapped so hard.
One thing I noticed during the demo that I appreciated is that Leon can be really good at "juking" enemies/attacks, there are a lot of attacks and grapples I avoided just by sprinting away from the enemy at the last second

played the demo and died a couple times but then somehow muscle memory from 2005-2006 kicked in and absolutely bodied the villagers lmao. Once things "clicked" again it was magical, i cant wait to play this.
I love the way the og game plays. I wish there were more games that feel like that, with the movement all on one stick and the laser aim. Cant deny tho, the modern controls make this thing feel so slick

Lots of great games coming this year though and I think we're getting a fairly higher than average amount of quality remakes this year. It's going to be interesting to talk in retrospect at the end of the year. Edit: I kind of exclude more transformative remakes like FFVII and RE2 remake personally. RE4 remake is taking an already good third person shooter and making it a more modern good third person shooter

I'm so glad I held off playing The Original Resident Evil 4. Getting to play this remake not knowing anything about the story or just how amazing the game will be is exciting!! I'm really on the fence about playing the Original before the remake although, it could make the game even better to know what was changed whether it makes the game that much more freaking awesome!! Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated!!
I have a question for anyone who might know but in everything I’ve seen I have heard praise on the knives but a couple complain about the durability. If going by the demo is an indication i like the durability it allows a few uses before needed a repair or whatnot and that’s fine by me like they say here it’s part of managing the resources and that’s one of my favorite things of the franchise specially 4 I love the attaché case and I’m glad it was back in village but curious about any other opinions on durability of the knives.

I’m so glad they are constantly rebuilding my favorite franchise since 6th grade I’m literally 38 years old and still in love with resident evil till this day. No matter how much they mess up I will always be a fan. The movies are garbage they need to really get someone that knows what there doing . Not Alice!!!!! Wtf…. If Resident Evil 6 is to be remade, It will probably take longer development time with it being a ridiculously long game. It is the longest game in the series, with an average completion time of 22 hours. 2nd longest being RE4 with a 16 Hour average completion time. RE6 Remake probably won't happen for a while, but I assume RE Code Veronica and RE5 Remakes will happen within the next 5 - 10 years.

I always felt like the discourse around RE4 versus 5/6 was weird because of what you're point out. Like you said, the original RE4 is pretty damn action-y and not grounded at all. You can carry a huge arsenal of powerful weapons, grenades, etc. You can climb El Gigante back and slash his weak point. There's freaking catapults. RE4 though has a certain tone, mood and balance between action and horror that I feel 5, but especially 6 didn't always capture right.
I know that things change for channels and companies we follow. People leave; Kyle, Brandon, Ben. Show get canceled or sunset or even conclude; Top 10s, Tabletop Escapades, Retrospectives, Game Sleuth (even though I do think that it stinks that the channel has almost completely moved away from any scripted content besides reviews, which I am not sure is true to why people started supporting EZA). But it is so disappointing that some traditions get totally abandoned without much of a reason or any real attempt made to keep it around. Huber and Kyle have been doing full playthroughs of horror games (Resident Evil being the primary example) for what has to be a decade now, since GameTrailers. And there is nothing in the works for RE4 Remake? The only thing I have heard on this is from Huber’s stream of RE2 Remake about 2 hours in and it was very dismissive. I don’t see how Kyle not being in town is a reason. RE3 Remake and RE8 were both streamed together and RE8 work really well. I would understand it if Kyle wasn’t still in the industry or still steaming but he does, multiple times a week. It truly bothers me that as all my favorites shows get cancelled and people leave, that we can’t keep something this basic. Seperate ways to the contrary will be a 4-6 hour expanded piece with new areas, weapons and bosses. So the comparison holds no water.

It will be included to the remake later down the line and will be a better product as a result.

Huber? really. the man is great and well respected. However would say for the past year or so he's been way more intense, calling out groups and rattling certain preferences (reddit probably deserves the hate idk) I know he's had some tough stuff going on in real life, but part of me thinks he's trying to fill the shoes of Kyle Bosman too, who also plays the annoying angle for entertainment.

Funny that back in the day we called RE4 “not Resident Evil” because it was too action-oriented, all while it was the last tank-like game to ever see the light. Which is what Resident Evil is supposed to be. Now it’s remake is just another most basic generic third-person shooter. No series-specific personality survived. What a shitshow.

I don't understand people complaining about ditching the clock tower sequence from RE3. It's a nothing part of the original game. You spend like ten minutes there doing the worst puzzle in the game. Like, good riddance.

I do want RE4 to be more horror though. :( I actually don't mind the fluid camera motions and non-fixed camera angles. I actually like first person better in general although 3rd person is ok as well. I just miss the horror and tone of the original 3. I know they have goofy stuff but most of it was unintended. Also you are assuming more things that I was not going with at all. I actually think Leon is the best part of RE4, I like that he grew up and that he is cheeky with his comments. My main dislike is the cartoony villains, the way Umbrella ended and the way this further leads towards Wesker being ridiculous.

Your sentiment is absurd. Separate ways didn't offer nothing new, it borrowed 80% of the areas from the main game and you're unable to upgrade your weapons. Don't make it better than what it was. It will be included to the remake later down the line and will be a better product as a result.
@MrPussInBoots lmao show me someone that considers re4 a GameCube exclusive. It held that title for literally a few months. It marked the end of their Nintendo contract and Capcom wasted no time getting that thing on ps2. Way more people owned a ps2, those are simple facts. So it goes to reason that more people experienced the game both on ps2 and in the last 2 decades than those that did as a very brief GameCube exclusive.
Also, way to contradict yourself. You claim a false equivalency for Hunk and Tofu because they reuse the same locations/content, then later you downplay Seperate Ways for the same exact reason. So easy to change the story to fit your weak defense. Lmao what a joke...

And yes, I'd rather seperate ways have more time in the oven while expanding over a poor excuse of a 2 hour side mission retracing every location you already experienced in the main game as Leon like in the original. You're clearly incredibly dense.

@@foulXD But RE4 is the last of us already. Gameplay-wise there is no Resident Evil left here whatsoever. Outside of combining herbs and managing inventory, I guess. But that is that. Same controls, same sneaking, same aiming-while-moving.
Funny that back in the day we called RE4 “not Resident Evil” because it was too action-oriented, all while it was the last tank-like game to ever see the light. Which is what Resident Evil is supposed to be.
Now it’s remake is just another most basic generic third-person shooter. No series-specific personality survived.

I don't understand people complaining about ditching the clock tower sequence from RE3. It's a nothing part of the original game. You spend like ten minutes there doing the worst puzzle in the game. Like, good riddance.

Damn by the sounds of it I am happy for you guys but I am sad it basically sounds like it's just as action without horror/survival as the original. I was hoping for more horror and perhaps a little more grounded characters.
The demo had already more horror then the original😅

@Son Of Dante Wont disagree with you at all when it comes to CV. I also wont disagree with 6. I do want RE4 to be more horror though. :( I actually don't mind the fluid camera motions and non-fixed camera angles. I actually like first person better in general although 3rd person is ok as well. I just miss the horror and tone of the original 3. I know they have goofy stuff but most of it was unintended. Also you are assuming more things that I was not going with at all. I actually think Leon is the best part of RE4, I like that he grew up and that he is cheeky with his comments. My main dislike is the cartoony villains, the way Umbrella ended and the way this further leads towards Wesker being ridiculous.
