You won't regret it. I've beaten the original Dead Space 1 at least 2 times long ago and I'm loving it. Having random monster encounters when I'm going back to explore ups the tension and I dig it. Really hope they remake Dead Space 2 as well.
It's pretty great if you like Survival Horror. DS can easily be dubbed Resident Evil 4 but in space, so if that concept interests you? you're gonna have a good time.
Huber's linguistic skills are unparalleled once again aided by Don's superb editing while expertly punctuated by Brandon Jones' eccentric voice. An all together masterful review for a perfect game.
I agree 100% with the Review score. Its a fantastic game with only some minor flaws. Also, I personally like most of the changes, but some changes I don't like. But its subjective, I guess. I really hope EA Motive is given the green-light to Remake Dead Space 2 next.

@@bxfguif Personally just love how open the Ishimura is now and that you can go anywhere you wish. Especially with the security levels now it's 100% worth it going back to old areas.

Was certainly marketed as Survival Horror but the end result was closer to clunky controls Sifu: horror edition. Essentially a 3D Beat em' Up with no backtracking, resource management, and tense puzzle sections. Guns are mostly pointless as it's more a dodging and smacking simulator.
Issac is an engineer after all. :P I know what you're getting at. Granted, you felt the weight of the suit when throwing punches on the older game. It's that age old debate of Realism vs Gameplay considerations.
The original game had a trophy on PS3 for playing the entire thing using only the plasma cutter and it was quite honestly amazing to play the game in such a limited but fun way.
Dead Space has continued to be one of my favorite gaming franchises despite its unceremonious abandonment. I’ll gladly use this remake as an excuse to go through the first one yet again.
I platinumed the original, but I don't really feel the need to revisit it. The review footage looks exactly how I remember the game in my head; I'm sure it looks way better in reality, though.

Never played the original and I don’t really like horror (Resident Evil is one of the few horror games I can handle since it’s more of a ‘fun horror’ then ‘scary horror’) but I’m having so much fun with this game because it’s also more on the ‘fun horror’ side of the genre and the story setup is really cool so far! Just started chapter 5 and can’t wait to jump back in tomorrow, it’s amazing!
This is THE best remake of a game to date. Nothing was taken away, quality of life was improved, environments are expanded and side missions and areas are added. It's chefs kiss perfect.
If you guys don't care about the harder difficulties, it's fun to play the game in story mode so you can experience everything. It's honestly a blast playing it on the easiest setting.
Could they do a remake of 2 and 3 first. The base layers are done for them. While that is being worked on, use the writers to work on Dead Space 4. Is this possible? A remake might take 2 years tops. And while the remakes are in the works, 5 years later, 4 could definitely be out from todays date, am I wrong? They could do a lot of the creative things for DeadSpace 4, story, concept art and all the big picture work fairly quickly I’m sure. I hope they do this.
I love the game and now hope for a dead space 2 remake, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the new gold standard for remakes. I'd say RE2 easily holds that crown. RE2 balanced nostalgia with a completely fresh experience perfectly, despite trimming some things. After playing through dead space, I'd say only those completely new to the series will get a fresh experience. I do enjoy the quality of life improvements, the handful of side routes to investigate, and the non existent load times so you can essentially free roam the ship, but it's still largely the same game with fresh paint for those that played it years ago.

If this is successful enough I'm sure they'll make a dead space 2 remake. But the question is if they'll continue and remake DS3 , and what their necessary approach will be at a fundamental level . It'd be cool if the remakes become a trilogy of consistent quality !
DS3 is gonna need a true OVERHAUL. Cut out the coop but keep Carver in the game and let Ellie and Isaac be the main focus instead of having her go off with some random character we’ve never met
This Remake was excellent. I'm surprised just like everyone that they didn't fucked it up It looks stunning, with the tweaks to gameplay and some bit of the narrative in the missions here and there. I don't know why this happens but there's no photo mode, which for games, like this one is such an oversight. Hopefully, they patch it in later. Also, you can't use your mouse when navigating the inventory and had to use the arrows on the keyboard to navigate which was annoying but not a big deal. Overall the devs nailed it :)
Good work! Visually a very beautiful game. The sound in the game is awesome. When you play it, stop and remember this beautiful moment. This is one of those moments in life when you paid money for a great product - appreciate it!

I did notice it is rather pricy for a remake compared to brand nerw IPs coming out - although I hope the devs get all the revenue the can stand so they make Dead Space 2 (hell, Id even take Dead Space 3 by now for the flotilla-part). Other than that, Im just so damn glad a hole new generation gets to experience Dead Space, since it was done dirty by EA back in the days.
The game is way too dark I've got brightness up to 80 and you still can't see too much I get its atmosphere but it's darker than the first I'd like to see more surroundings

I understand the idea of explaining the details, but I was looking for a comparison and see how faithful is to the original and if the aspects made 15 years are still holding up. Not a new phenomenon. Back in the 90s, we paid the same or more for some individual titles. Many of the SNES JRPGs I bought for the SNES, for example, were $70+. Feel free to research the reasons why.

Graphics and graphical depth/fidelity are increasing, but what costs are waiting for us, say, in late-life Unreal 5? Unreal 6? And what sort of development time will we have then? Right now whole AAA projects are occupying almost whole console cycles. AAA is a problem ignorant of any solutions.
Came here to see the graphics... and they look good, but not something "nextgen". I just can't notice the "jump" anymore. Ratchet and Returnal had the SSD loading gimmick, so that is a nextgen feature... but the overall visuals looked good, but not amazing. Even to this day Red Dead 2 remains as the most visually impressive game, I wonder how long it will take for the PS5 generation to present something better

I still think RE2MAKE is the one that still sets the bar the highest. Compare the 2 tank and fixed cam vs over the shoulder nothing alike. This game is no 10 its a new coat of paint slapped on a already good game from 10 years ago but the ship itself looks like every other room. You want scary and intense and varied go play Dead Space 2 dlc severed (its free now) Then tell me whats better.

This is a great example of assuming to know more than you actually do. The Easy Allies crew has known each other for a very long time. They have a pretty good idea into what each other prefers.
@Richard already bought into the hype and got the game. Played it through, didn't enjoy it at all but thankfully i got the physical version so I was able to resell it for the same price i got it for. Hopefully that person i sold it to enjoys it more than i did.
@@invidatauro8922 The point is that reviewers communicate/check general scores before giving their scores in order to not get outside a set score margin. It is a pretty known issue with game reviews. You rarely see a deviation more than +-1 in scores which is obviously bad.

5:20 - This was an issue specific to the PS5 version of the game and was just fixed with an update.

@@invidatauro8922 The point is that reviewers communicate/check general scores before giving their scores in order to not get outside a set score margin.
It is a pretty known issue with game reviews. You rarely see a deviation more than +-1 in scores which is obviously bad.
