The S Convertible is supposed to be a different universe and this is a compromise between C and E, so it shouldn't surpass the E either. That said, they could have given it the the E interior.
@@MercOnehow?? When this launched & was announced well before and began it's inception well before the new E class?? This C Class interior is infinitely more advanced than the last gen E Class, which was all they could've gone for besides this, so they made the perfect choice. And in it's worst areas, it basically matches it. The C Class lined missed the whole W222 inspired cockpit which both the A, E, CLA, CLS and even the V Class got...it instead had to skip right into the W223 inspired cockpit. And once you consider the overhauls made on the new E Class which very well affected pricing, going for this still brand new interior whilst making it slightly bigger than the W213 coupes, is the perfect balance....I couldn't imagine the prices on these with that interior(still logistically impossible to have gotten it). We'd be very well into W213 E53 money for a non AMG Cabriolet, cuz it would literally be a new generation *E Class Cabriolet* , which was clearly not the goal or point of this. This has carried hallmarks from the W213 and obviously mixed that in with the W206.

MB lost their way big time, got fixated with the EQ range and that has bitten them on both cheeks. I’ve sat inside one of these in a show room and was horrified at the inferior quality scratchy plastics etc. such a shame for a top brand. No prestige around them now.

Who ever thought the CLE should not have pillar less windows on the coupe really lost the pinacle design of a Mercedes coupe. That's what made them cool

I’ve got an E300 Cabrio. Not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s streets ahead of this. The older ‘E’ is not that far behind a standard S Cabrio ( excepting the engines) but this is a step down and backwards.
Definitely not a fan of the wind deflector device on the windshield in front. It's very noticeable from outside when driving by. I agree with the comments about the interior black plastic. Just put some texture on it

Not a fan of the back. Why does every damn car these days have to have these lights (or plastic) that covers the whole width of the car.... Also @ 3:33 what is it compared to the E-Class? And let's not even talk about the breathtaking S-Class coupe, which they sadly didn't follow up with the newest generation.
I have no idea how tall you are, but at 182cm, in my Audi S5 cabriolet there is less wind intrusion blowing my hair around up front with the windows up like that and the deflector up (or even not) when going even ~70 kph then it looks like there is in the video. Which seems weird since that car has the popup front deflector thing which I would assume is supposed help with that. But I guess it's good they still make one. Audi didn't just consolidate they axed all the 2 door cars completely, giving them up to Merc. and BMW for now.
I never realised how terrible the air diverter slat / flap at the top of the windscreen looks from both in front and behind when the car is driving, what a dork I must have looked in my E300 Cabrio! 😎😇

I tell you what, make a facelift s coupe/cabrio, price it as an e coupe/cabrio and claw back at your marketshare which you have been losing.
I just can't get over how badly this car looks, inside and out. It's supposed to replace both the previous GT generation and the S class convertible (2 fantastic models in their own right) but, unfortunately, it's not good at either.
Despite the marketing B.S. this is not a crossover between the E and the C coupes/cabs. It does not take "the best parts from the E" - rather it is a longer C-Coupe with the exact same god awful interior. Yes, it looks good on the outside and has access to *some* E-class features that the C-class should've gotten anyway. The fact that you even mentioned this car in the same sentence as the S-coupe is astounding. I am a Mercedes owner and fanboy but this car is garbage. The only people who should buy this are people who only care about looks and the Mercedes badge. The CLE could have been given the sportiness of the C-class and the luxury of the E-class. Instead, it got the cheapness of the W206 C-class and the size of the outgoing E-coupe. Sick.

It replaces C and E coupé/cabrio. There is a new GT (coupé only). SL takes over from the old SL as well as the soft top GT.

It's actually 150kW, or 204hp + 23hp from the hybrid system. Still, I think you'd want at least the 300 model
