    Hey guys! Sorry, I know the music in this video is pretty loud; I made the video when I was first starting out and didn’t really understand video editing haha.
    All my videos after this have much better audio, I promise! I also have another video going over my picture book process if you’d like to check it out! :)
    NOTE: I only take on picture book projects directly from publishers, so unfortunately I cannot illustrate your book idea!

      Aw, I was actually enjoying the music. It was so relaxing, like we were chatting in a coffee shop but you were doing all the talking. ;) In fact, I was going to comment about the music being nice anyway and not that annoyingly perky yuke with bells and whistling that everyone else uses. (BTW, I love uke, just not perky yuke, haha).

    I know why "certain people" ask, "why do you share?" It's because they never share. They like to steal other people's ideas, talents, culture, land then claim them as their own. They're well known around the world this but they never want to share. Thank you for sharing this. You know you're talented and you believe in your own talents. You don't have to be afraid of everyone else's success.....BEAUTIFUL!!!

    • @AnooshaSyed
      @AnooshaSyed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      Thank you!! I’ve learned that other people’s success has nothing to do with your own; the other artists aren’t taking opportunities away from you, there’s plenty of opportunities to go around. Instead of competing with artists it’s more important to help each other. I believe that when I help others, the kindness will come back around to me. :)

      You are so right. People are quick to ask you to share, and once you do, they are like vultures. Being on TH-cam as a content creator for the last 7 years I can say this is true. I have learned to share when I am ready and share what it is that I desire. I have also started classes and have written a book. Sometimes, you have to set boundaries and give without bias. It is hard, but there are so many ways to deal with this.

Every time I work on a book it's like doing it for the first time all the time. LOL!! People think as illustrators that this is always fun that it is super duper easy for us, but we are working with large publishers and others who have opinions and we have to be true to ourselves and the project that we are working on. I am almost 100 books in now and its been wild and wonderful. I am so very grateful for every single book that I had the joy of doing. Thank you so much for your transparency it is so very refreshing and beautiful! Hopefully I will get to meet you at a book festival at some point! You are the bomb girl! I think that the traditional publishing industry is partially based on skill and partially based on luck. There are lots and lots of talented artists in the world, and there are only a limited number of positions, so to get the opportunity to work with a major book publisher would be a major break-through.
    I will make the best use of my time by self-publishing my own picture books and comics.
    The chance that I will get picked up by a major publisher . . . . . HAHAHAHAHA!!! I'm not counting on it. It would be nice and all, but I would have to get lucky.

    This was really wonderful. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
    The background music was a little loud at times so, I missed what you were saying.
    I am grateful for the time, thought, and work you put into this video.

    Does the publisher give you a rough draft layout showing you what they want on each page and where to leave areas for text etc?

    Congratulations on your wedding! I learned so much from watching your video! I loved the detail you delved into with regard to choices of color, responding to changes and notes from the publisher, composition of the pages, and the big picture of how they work together. You are a talented illustrator and very kind to share so much of your knowledge with the viewer. Don't worry. You could never be boring! I'm fascinated by the details.
