This album was recorded under crazy conditions. They spent over a year on the road and were thrown back into the studio with zero chance to rest. The guys were at each other’s throats, there was a lot of booze and drugs, and a whole lot of anger. They were sick of each other, but had to somehow coexist and create together. The result is some of the most emotional, energetic shit your ears will ever experience. Legendary band and album.
Don't think it's underrated, some songs or bands just give the feeling that it's underrated, people listen without mentioning them often, i think that's clear
The great thing with metal & extreme music is that once you understand that it isn't just a bunch of 'angry' noise you then start to find how cathartic it can be. It can be a great release of tensions and stress and leave you feeling like you channeled any negative energy into the music and come out refreshed. It is for this reason that the majority of metalheads that you'll meet will be really great folk. It is so rare that you hear of any trouble at metal gigs or festivals. Glad to see you enjoy the Knot, whilst this is the heaviest album and probably the fan favourite, Subliminal versus (the third album) is a beautiful creation.

I'm so shocked nobody has explained IOWA (the song) to you. Corey literally drove himself into an emotional fit during the recording of the song. He stripped down naked in the booth, chugged liquor, broke a candle stick and proceeded to cut his chest open and bleed and throw up everywhere. This song was Corey going into the deepest darkest sickest parts of his mind and who he is. The song (straight from his mouth) is about him being locked alone in a room with a dead body and doing fucked up things to it. By the end he was screaming at everyone to stop staring at him which you can hear in the background if the song. This was Corey releasing all of the pent up rage and hate in life he has bottled up. Amazing reaction to the album man, can't wait for you to get to Vol. 3
Way overrated song imo for what it is supposed to be. Yes the tales about it and how it was recorded are crazy but imo there are far better songs when you're looking for an aggressive psychotic "outlet" type song by Slipknot. What will always make the first couple of albums undeniably legendary, is the fact that he literally ripped his throat apart recording and performing those songs. That commitment to produce a sound that will never be replicated is something special. The raw absolute rage and brutality of it will never be heard again. The vocals in the intro are from Sid (the dj). During recording his grandfather who he was really close to was ill and there was so much pressure to get the album done that Sid couldnt leave. Disasterpiece is about the lead singer (Corey Taylor) wanting to kill his childhood bully. And the background for the opening track (515) is the DJ (Sid Wilson) screaming in pain after the sudden death of his grandpa.

You should keep going and do Vol. 3 the Subliminal Verses though if you havent yet.

In fact the dark self harm atmosphere is what inspired the sound for the rest of the album. No matter your music tastes, gotta respect where this stuff actually comes from.
Skin Ticket is the best experience on the album, it is the most atmospheric, sick, psychodelic, horror-like, and you are right it is the weakest song.. it is not meant to be a song, it is an emotional (even psychotic) experience.
Do you mean the Download festival from 2009? The festival is actually held in the East Midlands of the UK, nowhere near London, just for some geographic context :)

Even if they were right they'd go over dudes head tbh lol like he isn't even catching the vibes right 😂 songs be slow n creepy as shit and he's acting like they're chill like huh? 💀
He’s a chill dude, man idk
@@Xeroforteold ahh comment lol but i think thats just how he is, and you can view any song in any way sometimes so i dont mind it
@@Xerofortegod forbid someone enjoy music
been waiting for this, thxx
lets fucking go, fav slipknot album
Skin Ticket is one of the best songs on the album. Moody, atmospheric, and a bit of a slower burn than most of the rest. When I try to show people that Slipknot is more versatile than they might think I'll show them Heretic Anthem, Left Behind and Skin Ticket are from the same album.
You should keep going and do Vol. 3 the Subliminal Verses though if you havent yet.
I absolutely love Skin Ticket, but this entire album just slaps. The only song I find myself skipping on repeat listens is Iowa. :D
You definitetly need to see some of their live performances with video, like spit it out 2009 Download
Dude your EQ on your spotify is AMAZING. i don’t know what it is, but my phone has never sounded better. this album sounds completely different. What are your settings?!? i need them
Sitting here watching this man absolutely flabbergasted is so fucking funny 😂 we all had the same reaction to this joint when it released 😂😂
Yes even though I only have 3 liked songs from iowa I like most of the songs save them for a special occasion.😂 also so amazing u liked the shape. It's underrated
Hope you see this I'm a little late but Slipknot does have an official Live album that is on Spotify called 9.0 Live
Great to see you as always my man, I love this because I see myself discovering this when I was a kid l, brings me sooo many memories and feelings…
I would love to see you react to one of the greatest albums ever if you haven’t already: Nirvana - Nevermind.
Merry Christmas y’all
If you wanna watch some live stuff i suggest live in london astoria 2004, live in london in 2002, and download in 2009
Joey Jordison is my childhood hero, this album made my life for years, nice reaction
1:12:47 it’s supposed to sound like that.
I am amazed you low key hated on skin ticket. We all listen to music differently, but skin ticket was the first song they wrote on this album. In fact the dark self harm atmosphere is what inspired the sound for the rest of the album. No matter your music tastes, gotta respect where this stuff actually comes from.
Yooo I was waiting for this video
Reno back with Slipknot🔥🔥🔥
why does your library look scarily similair to mine??? we might be related bro
Skin Ticket is the best experience on the album, it is the most atmospheric, sick, psychodelic, horror-like, and you are right it is the weakest song.. it is not meant to be a song, it is an emotional (even psychotic) experience.
I would LOVE to see you react to their Live at Download 2009 concert. Then you see how really insane they are.
Do you mean the Download festival from 2009? The festival is actually held in the East Midlands of the UK, nowhere near London, just for some geographic context :)
@@Stephs_VibeRater Yes , I have no idea why I wrote London tbh, I meant to say "Live at Download" xD Thanks for correcting, I will edit the original message!
No worries dude! @@Koray.K
i thought the same thing when i listened to the bridge in left behind lol i was like "this sounds like deftones"
9:45 "i know that shit hit live" believe me it fucking does, you should definitely react to their 2001 ozzfest performance where people = shit is their opening song. its crazy.
I feel like you will like We are not your kind more, its got some bangers and some singing and is one of my personal favourites
rip joey jordison, was such a good drummer.
theres 2 types of people in this world. people who like metal, and people who haven't heard it yet.
love this album
If you want skin ticket live, it’s on the live album “9.0 live”
little does bro know, he's now a metal head.
I am hated was the first song I ever really listened to and liked off Iowa then over time I listened to more and found out about how much more of a banger this shit really is
1:03:31 "This boutta be a mean ass fuck you"
Bro imagine if it was 😮
Fr imagine if it was like 1:19:00
i cant wait for you react to we are not your kind
great video dude, make sure you check out the deluxe version of albums as they have extra songs
Architects all our gods have abandoned us has to be a listen it’s amazing
black sabbath - War Pigs ! U gotta do it next ! Or If u wanna do the album by them which the song war pigs is on its called “paranoid”. They were the pioneers of the metal genre in the 70s so its a must bc before any heavy band they were the first EVER
hEY dude Just Thank YoU FoR ENyOYING!
If you liked this u have to do Talla - the generation of danger. A must!!
Now The vol 3 álbum it's calmer and more melodic than the first and second album.
