Not to hype you up but the next album We Are Not Your Kind goes even crazier than this one 🤘🤘🤘 I recommend first checking out their single All Out Life that came just before it though. It sets the mood for the album pretty well
It might not be on my favorite songs of this album, but this song is fucking great no doubt. I just like a few others more. But yeah can't go wrong picking this one as your favorite I respect it 👌
"This song if for the dead" .5 The Gray Chapter is dedicated to their original bassist, Paul Gray, who passed away aftet the previous album's release. RIP. Glad I got to see the full OG band live in '09". Joey drumming vertically on his insane drum set setup is iconic. RIP to him too 😢

I *love* that you like Danger - Keep Away. I feel like its a very underrated song that people don't talk about a lot. (I think it was a b-side or something that wasnt on the album when it first came out)
"if Rain is what you want" is also my favorite song. The last album "The end, so far..." has a lot of songs in this style. For me it's their best album in terms of mixing and musically. You will really like it. Don't forget to react to it
I don't understand why this album gets hate, it's my second favorite after Iowa. Every song is a BANGER dude. I could listen to all of them on repeat. The Devil In I, AOV, Nomadic, Override, The One That Kills the Least, Goodbye, If Rain Is What You Want 🔥
The unspeakable things I would do to hear XIX and Sarcastrophe for the first time, two of their finest tracks by far, the emotional weight of the intro to then hit you hard as fuck with a brutal throwback to their old wild sound. Still very early but I hope you enjoyed The Negative One, most def one of their most underrated ever on their catalog. Also if you are unaware, this album comes after a long hiatus from the passing of bassist Paul Gray and then drummer Joey Jordison being kicked out of the band, the two of them were key contributors the songwritting of their music so keep that in mind if their post hiatus sound might be hit or miss to your ears.
I love your videos, man. Keep it up! Your reactions are top tier and quite genuine, which is something lacking nowadays here on YT. Long live the KNOT /,,/
They don't like it (myself included) not because it's a bad album, but because it's a bad Slipknot album that has lost its distinctive sound. People say it's just the evolution of the band, and I would partially agree with that, but if you release your first 2 albums as unique and groundbreaking masterpieces and and on all the next releases you gradually lose it then that's not evolution IMO...
@@gadyshnikPersonally, The Grey Chapter is my favorite album out of their discography. There's nothing wrong in saying that it's not your favorite or it's not what you wanted. I find that too many Slipknot fans think that the bands should remain exactly the same overtime. Particularly, they think that their opinions on music are equivalent to the quality of music.
The whole album is honestly about grief and all the different emotions you can experience going through it, and they were all grieving the death of Paul gray, their bassist. That's why is called the gray chapter, and that's who they are directly talking about in skeptic. This is one they're best albums by far
This album is called The Gray Chapter named after Paul Gray their late bassist who passed after the 4th album. The song Skeptic and several others have lyrics relating to him.
This was the album that introduced me to Slipknot. I'm glad this was the album that was my gateway because this is a banger album! We Are Not Your Kind is my all time favorite, so I am excited for that one!
So this comment is specifically for The Negative One, you were saying how theres a whole track that's an intro for it right before so this song must be amazing and life changing. Well as long time Slipknot fan, what I experienced when this single was released was a return to form. I believe it was the first single of this album. And it was SOOOO hype. Just throwback to the first albums. Withh a very catchy rift. Very similar to gow Linkin Park did Two Face as a single and it sounds like their first album. So yeah, Negative One was huge. One of my favorite Slipknot songs. But after seeing all your reactions i know you like the Slipknot songs that have more singing in it than yelling, or at least 50/50. So i was prepared for you maybe not feeling the build up to it was not necessary, but trust it's so cool for this throwback type of song. Just hits different. Absolute banger.
They released it on its own, but they didn't 'treat it as a single' apparently if I remember right. I don't know if that actually means anything though. It was the first new slipknot in a very long time after an album that wasn't received that well. They were putting out super cryptic teasers with very small snippets of sounds from the song, then when the video actually came out, it was an absolute *BANGER* and it also dissuaded any concerns people had about the new drummer at the time. I fucking LOVE that song. Easily my favorite from the album.
Love how much you appreciate AOV. I also think thats one of the best songs in the album. Nomadic, Negative One, and AOV are probably my favs. Killpop up there too.
Also the two bonus songs deserved to be in the album over Lech and some of the other songs I won't mention that might be controversial to speak down upon lol Override and The Burden are amazing. There's at least 4 songs I'd axe from the main album and just include these.
Dude experiencing Custer live is so fun. If you ever go to a Slipknot concert you gotta record tidbits of your favorite songs and make a video about it. It's just so hype. Im going to Linkin Park in Austin in April so excited for that shit 😁
I feel like I only ever see critique of The Gray Chapter online, honestly, I have always been fond of it. I used to listen to the entire thing daily. The standout tracks for me would be XIX, Sarcastrophe, AOV, Skeptic, Lech, The Negative One and The One That Kills the Least. Overall an amazing album. Great reaction, mate, keep it up!
Bro the Override shade is too much 😭😭😭😂 I love that song. But keep in mind those last two are bonus songs. I think both deserved spots on the album. The actual last song on the album was your fav, If Rain Is What You Want. And that is a great song. I just like Negative One, AOV, Nomadic, Custer, and Killpop over it. Too many bangers in one album. With many people having different preferences.
Hey Reno i realy like your reacts to Slipknot, keep it up!👍 The next album would be We Are Not Your Kind (2019), but before you do react to the single All Out Life (2018), since it was released not so long before the album and isn't included in it (except the Japanese Versions) You can react to both in one single video if you want, it would be cool! 🙂
Hello, Skeptic is a dedicated song to Paul Gray, as you can tell by the lyrics you catched on, and i also thought he said "you made it worse" but he actually says "you made it work"
Bro I forgot how solid this album is, Underrated af, also if you want some crazy old school metal try any Pantera album or if you want something vibing rock try The Black keys
Killpop is about his relationship with the music business. "She" is the industry. She only takes what she needs and never gives anything in return. "Die and fucking love me." Makes a lot more sense in that context.
This album followed the death of their og bassist Paul Gray and the kicking of og drummer Joey Jordison. Sadly he passed before their latest album in 2022. Next album even betta than this
If Rain Is What You Want is the proper ending of the album. Override and The Burden are extras from the special edition. To this day it blows my mind that The Burden didn't make the cut for the official album. I cannot fathom it.
