These 'Spiritual Covering" teachings are designed to control and manipulate you.

  • Spiritual covering has been coming up a lot lately. Is it biblical? Sorta. There are some positive and healthy aspects to the charismatic idea but unfortunately it has been used at times in sinister way to control and manipulate many unsuspecting church-goers. These teachings are designed to control people and are nothing short of demonic. By biblical definition, it is witchcraft. More than another prophetic word, we need the word of God and need to know it and understand it. Manipulative and controlling leaders prey on ignorant Christians. I hope this message helps expose the darkness lingering in these teachings and that you will actively avoid them. I pray the Holy Spirit continues to lead you into all truth.

I went to church like that many years ago. They really hurt a lot of people. I finally left and it took years to heal from the damage it did to me. I am free now and I love Jesus more than ever. Thank you for talking about this.

That was one thing God taught me right away, at church that was spoken about if you hear anything from the holy Spirit you need to ask the pastor if you should do that. I'm pretty rough around the edges and I said I ain't asking nobody nothing except for God cuz he's the only head and covering over me.

It seems it all boils down to reading and knowing what God’s Word says and commands of us. Church leaders, preachers and teachers probably know the Word but many in the congregation do not read or know what is actually in the Written Word so they don’t recognize the wolf in sheep’s clothing.

I agree with you on that. I'm guilty of being in the church pews listening to the message bit going home and actually studying my Bible is something I didn't do. It took me falling in love with Jesus and putting Him first in my life. Then I had this crazy hunger to know our Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit said "read your Bible if you want to know Jesus" so I did and do. 🤗

The whole "Spiritual Covering" thing reminds me of the Shepherding Doctrine from about 30 years ago for sure. Yes, its all about control. Don't ask questions, don't touch the Lord's annointed. Sick. The fruit is sincere believers with shipwrecked faith. These people are not shepherds, they are false shephers. The Jesus they preach is another Jesus, and the gospel is another gospel...and you know what Paul said about that.

When they take up the offering, do they say "Does anybody need anything?" Do they say, "If anyone is in a situation whereby they are suffering oppression by another, and you have gone to that one first, or if you believe that personal injury or property damage may occur, we have people you may talk to who are willing to not hear evil for the sake of evil, but are only willing to hear matters that are the cause of some present distress, willing to walk through things with you and search the scriptures and pray with you and find out what is right, and they will be willing to plead your cause and ask for mercy from the offending party if mercy is due, willing to do the same for one party as for the other, without partiality and without hypocrisy, with the goal of reconciliation by the gospel of Christ. You may go to anyone you wish for his kind of work, but we do have trained and willing people if you can't find anyone you can trust."? And then do they say somewhere in the service, "Will someone please speak in tongues and interpret"? or "Will someone bring us a word of prophecy for edification by way of exhortation and comfort as led by the Holy Spirit"?

Everything you said is spot on, but I have a question for you about tongues. If someone is "speaking in tongues" (at least the fake gibberish evangelicals put forth) how would anyone interpret it?? Obviously, the Bible is speaking of languages.
There is a Holy Spirit groaning and speaking that is spoken about in scripture. That takes place in our own prayer closet. The Gift of tongues is being a linguist, or someone who is able to learn other languages so that The Gospel can be imparted in their native tongue. Exactly how it happened when The Holy Spirit fell on the Church.

Very interesting and great reference to Matthew 20 & 23 and 1 Corinthians 4, but actually most churches abide by this de facto even if they don’t have an explicit policy. It’s so deeply ingrained in Catholic/protestant/orthodox churches that it’s in plain sight and we see it but don’t notice it.

Adam - fantastic teaching. I can tell that you and I have been through similar things and are equally disgusted by the spiritual manipulation and frankly, destruction that comes from these kinds of man-made and unhealthy fleshly hierarchies. Unfortunately, man is hopelessly religious. Just like Israel, we refuse to be content with God being our headship and demand a man (or woman) to be over us - and that is exactly where we get into trouble. This happens because people in the body will not get into the Word and work through the things therein with GOD, FIRST. Oftentimes, we're no better than the Catholics, who get their spiritual insights and understanding from the priests, bishops, and the Pope. We should be measuring EVERYTHING by the Word of God, but if we don't know it, how exactly are we going to do that?
What you've shared here is exactly why I believe in the not-too-distant future, that God is going to raise up the "nobodies", from the highways and the byways that have absolutely no agenda other than to love others, build them up in Christ, and to SERVE them to that end. They are champions for Jesus Christ - they want others to know him, and that is ALL they are after. The fruit of their labor will be men and women passionately in love with their Savior and their changed lives will change lives.
Anyways, such an awesome reminder. Thanks so much for taking the time to speak this - it needs to be heard.
    Steven

❤@glasshousetv good morning. Part of our human behavioural mapping is as a follower, part of a system containing various elements whose interconnections align to a common purpose. Made in His and likeness, we reflect the Father’s direction for the sake of the Maker/Word through the Holy Spirit. That very follower-behaviour between God and Adam found interception by the Serpent and can clearly find similar abuse by priests or pastors. This fine line feels right, to seek out mentorship. But it can foster possible abuse in losing the entire Spirit of Salvation for Top-down leadership. Properly done it points those beneath to direct obedient love and service. Good things, all things offer light or its absence; water for baptism or drowning. Thank you Pastor Adam.

I love you friend God bless you, its a little more eye opening as im slowly learning more about God and the way I should live my life and be more aware of who or what I listen to or pay attention to, I almost never thought to doubt a church or the pastors or whether or not they could be wrong. I'm living my life reading the bible and praying and wanting to learn more about the Lord and to get closer to him though im finding something worldly or materialistic things more harder to give up than others. But the Lord is good to me in many ways such as keeping me healthy when my heart was hurting for weeks physically and by having mercy on me despite how many times I have sinned or have fallen back on that sin. I want to know God more and I want to Love him and put him above all and everything and I want to be with him in heaven with my family and others and thanks to you and a couple others I am learning from is that I need to take my walk in the spirit more seriously and genuinely, though i'm still struggling to put things down or maybe even wanting to, its a fight with the desires of the flesh. Its alot needless to say but anyways thank you for preaching the word of God! He is good and is always taking care of us even when we dont deserve it

And this is why people should not enter into this particular role if they are not assigned to it by The Most High GOD. The judgements are much more greater and much more harsh.
So for those who have been using leadership positions for ill gotten gain, for tyranny and abuse and for manipulation and witchcraft, you need to repent and come out of these positions before it is too late.
This same warning goes for political leaders in government positions. If these seats are being used to inflict oppression, bullying, terrorism, genocide, and other forms of inhumane treatments on human life, you will be judged by The Most High GOD. Because those leadership seats are not designed to promote darkness and satan's character. Those seats are designed to reflect the holiness of our Creator The Most High GOD. He is about giving life to people, not taking life from people. He is about helping the human soul flourish with pure light and true life.
It is this disposition that causes every human soul to experience the beauty of The Most High's goodness. He believes in the value of the human soul, because He is the one who put that particular value there. And we do not have the right to take life from people, especially when they were born into this earth to experience it in a fruitful and restorative manner. The human soul has a right to come into a healthy and life changing experience with his or her value and with how that value compliments the beauty of life. Shalom

The concept of a spiritual covering is indeed scriptural but, having said that you covered the reality of abusing being a spiritual covering for someone I was guilty of that damaged spiritually to my household my Ministry every aspect of my life and the people who were who are actually still under me in leadership. When you set accountability you hit the nail on the head the devil uses anything he can to ensnare a man of God and manipulate him. I allowed him to do that using Spiritual Authority as a weapon and not a blessing not an edification. Obviously, I have since repented of that and have been sewing good seeds to Bear good fruit in my spiritual family. Thank you for this message it was a confirmation to me

Very much like Jeremiah 17 which says blessed is the one who trusts in God, he'll be like a tree with green leaves by the river, but cursed is the one who puts their trust in the flesh of men. When I read it in the spirit, I read 'flesh of men' as our old sinful nature. When we let God be our only refuge, not people (though God uses His confirmation for what HE tells us first) then we truly learn from grace to deny all ungodliness. Titus 2:11-12 is on my mind here as well with this video.

Do people even pray together anymore, whereby we hear the prayers of each one? Maybe a 1/2 hour of that every service would be a good thing, and maybe shorter sermons unless there is a real good reason or need for a long one.

No. I've really moved away in my heart from traditional "church" as we all know it. After years of praying and waiting, God finally opened up the door for my wife and I to attend a home fellowship / bible study, and it was everything I dreamed it would be. People talking and sharing - people praying for others and simply enjoying the company of their brothers and sisters in Christ. We went over our time by an hour and no one wanted to leave. People are so hungry to be loved and known by others...

@@BansheeKing22 Okay, but remember what Hebrews 10:25 says: "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." We need each other in the body - my personal take is that the "assembling of ourselves together" has been diminished because, like society, we've fallen into the trap of mistaking standing next to each other for fellowship... it isn't.
I see this pattern outside the church as well - texting and emails have replaced meeting face-to-face and actually talking and praying together. "Church" is now a gathering place for strangers mixed in with cliques that hang out and fellowship with those in their own little groups. Is that how it's supposed to be? And we wonder why unbelievers find church so loveless and cold. I'm speaking in generalities here, but this has most certainly been my observation and if I get someone who is honest, this exact sentiment comes out from them as well. It takes real effort to get to know someone because everyone is so skeptical of intents and motives. This isn't how it's supposed to be..

Thanks so much for this! Paul never intended for people to “be like him” simply to make his own name great or because of his own pride, to control, or dominate people. One commentary puts it this way; “Paul simply did what he told his young associate Timothy to do: be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” In the previous chapter (10), Paul makes a point to “follow his example as he seeks to bless others instead of pleasing himself.” Also, he was also establishing the early church, and we cannot selectively insert ourselves into scripture as Paul. That’s just my two cents. God bless you both!

Shalom man of God and many blessings to you and to your beautiful wife and families (personal/ministries).
I agree with this message. You are speaking the truth.
I appreciate also the scriptures you have shared that regard The Messiah's model in leadership.
Because He does teach us about the original disposition of believers in the leadership position. That position is always submitted to the intimate gift of servanthood.
The Messiah never stepped out of that disposition when He was pouring life (and truth) into His people.
He didn't express leadership or revolutionary movement outside of that gift.
And this is also another reason why He was so effective in His assignment and leadership position. He was bearing the cross internally before He embraced it physically.
Ministers in leadership positions are not exempt from bearing the cross. When leadership is abused, it is because they are not bearing the cross. When they mishandle the value of a human soul, it is because they are not bearing the cross. And of course the other reasons stem from the fact that there are people who are sent by the enemy to counterfeit the true nature of leadership in certain churches and ministries. And it is very important for believers to sharpen their discernment so they can understand the difference between wheat and tares.
I love the scriptures you have shared because they show us the beauty of leadership. And I appreciate sincerely every person who has and still are demonstrating the aromatic details of servanthood while they express The Messiah's life through the leadership role. They do not know how much they are truly appreciated by many, but they are. So I would like to say thank you to those who have been genuine in their walks while taking on this demanding position.
Man of God as you read from 1 Corinthians 4, I saw apostle Paul and the rest of the apostles who worked alongside with him in the disposition as a "human shield."
This is what I saw while reading along with you. And that is the true nature of leadership in The Kingdom.
Leaders take majority of the blows for the precious souls that are entrusted in their care. It is not any different than the whipping post Christ was tied to when He took stripes and lashes on our behalf. From a physical perspective, not many of us would survive what The Messiah went through on the whipping post. But if my ancestors were here I am pretty sure they would also testify that it is an experience that is very difficult to survive.
We really need deeper teaching on servanthood and how that gift is expressed through the body of Christ, especially in the leadership role.
Even the gift of "washing feet" teach us the beauty of servanthood in the leadership position.
The Messiah was in a position that teaches us the responsibility of leaders. They are accountable and responsible for washing the walk of others with The Most High's Word. So this intimate act speaks from the natural realm and from spirit realm. The natural act of feet washing teaches us how to care for one another spiritually.
We are suppose to help cover and protect each other's walk in Christ, through the life we pour into each other's walk. So it is not a one sided experience. When we pour life on each other's walk, we are pouring life back into the walk of our Messiah Jesus Christ/Yehushua Hamashiach.
This is covenant. This is intimate spiritual intercourse being expressed between believers and The Messiah. Feet washing will always take us back to Christ.
Thank you man of God for sharing this message. And thank you for allowing me to share this with you. GOD Bless you and Shalom unto you and to your beautiful wife and families.

I'm going to upset the apple cart by making an observation about church membership and showing just how it has a similar, if not the same, rational as a "spiritual covering".
When you join a church you are inevitably asked to appear before the congregation and pronounce that you are in agreement with the written doctrine of thd church ... every bit of it. What if there is a part you don't agree with or you later find a belief doctrine that you no longer agree with? In either case you, if you join or stay, you most likely lied. Because if you join or if you stay knowing that you have sworn allegiance to that doctrine, you have allowed that church doctrine to take precedence and become a barrier between you and Jesus. Church first ... Jesus second. You have allowed the church (denomination?) has become your "spiritual covering".

I learned these teachings in a Freewill Baptist Church. Women are supposed to submit to men because we are thought to be the weaker vessel, lmao. I think they think they are supposed to protect us. When have men excepted women as being their spiritual equals, lol? We were told we needed to submit to the Pastor, or, Shepard of the congregation, especially women without husbands. But, men are supposed to follow the Shepard of their Church as well. It is Biblical. Depends on whether or not your Pastor is spirit filled, or, not, though. It's the responsibility of the Pastor to feed God's people the Bread of Life. They will answer to God for what they feed His sheep. We will be held accountable for eating at the wrong table, though. Submit to God, and He will direct our paths, amen! Be blessed!!!

Why do we miss this sarcastically I say! All I needed to read was your title did you know a cult? It’s not a bad thing. There are bad satanic Colts, but not all Colts are bad. Heck being a super fan or a fan in general of a sports team is a cult technically, a group of people coming together to serve. God is a type of cult, Taylor Swift is a cult know the definition of a word before you say anything about it ! And this is coming from a guy who still calls Yeshua Jesus when that word is only been around for less than 400 years and it means closer to Zeus than it does Yeshua. The Bible says never to make my name meaningless what could be more meaningless than never speaking is true name man the devil is still winning and that’s why Yeshua says one day he’ll tell people you never knew me. You didn’t even know his real name you never referred to him by his real name you didn’t ask to be saved in his name you asked to be saved, and some made up fantasy calling him Jesus is no worse than someone asking you to call them by their pronouns. It’s the same thing you’re calling them. Something that they’re not also, if you had 11 friends who all spoke a different language you and your other 10 friends wouldn’t call that one person. 11 different names to suit your language no, you would call him by his name. It’s not like a tree rock, water, the wind, food, etc. to be able to communicate to someone in another language. A name shall always be the same only we change the names.

Sean what is funny is that Yeshua is an alternative form of the actual name Yahoshua, so It sounds like you're calling yourself out. On another note, the god that you serve is so small the he is confined to a singular language, that's not my Jesus. In making this atrocious argument you've cut your legs off, since in confining God to a singular language you've also confined yourself, I hope you can read hebrew/Greek since, according to your logic, we are making the bible meaningless since it isn't being read in its true form.
