Awesome install video guys!! Just finished the install and this video helped a ton. To the guys that say this is too hard or intimidating, just give it a shot. @billetworkz this is due for an update guys. Biggest issue I found with your video was the lack of info regarding orientation of parts and tool sizes used for each part (ie punch size and socket sizes here and there) Also, I had that greasy spring pop out on me when I removed that part of the assembly and had no idea what it looked like prior because I didn't know to check. I had to pause your video and zoom in and guess how the part was supposed to sit. I installed the trifecta, weighted knob (thank god cause that plate needs one), short shifter and plate. Night and day difference. Its a little notchy for my taste but not enough to even complain really because it was notchy stock as well. The best improvement was probably from the plate and bushing combo. That completely changed the way it feels to shift. Before it was sloppish (I did have a Shifter Stop installed) and felt like I was stirring a bucket of rocks. This shifter feels the way a shifter should feel. Biggest complaints: 1st and reverse can sometimes be hard to get into, but I think an adjustment to the shifter stop will fix that (however in my experience you want it to be initially a tad too tight because it will loosen over time). Also, the shift from 2nd to 3rd was tough at times but that's probably an adjustment I need to make. 3rd to 4th on the other hand is *chef's kiss* 4-5 is good and 5th to 6th is just as nice as 3rd-4th. 1st-2nd is that way too however I think due to the shifter stop being too tight, I'm getting resistance from it. I'm probably gonna miss some shifts for a day or two haha. The throw of this shifter is the shortest I have ever felt period. 55% reduction is no joke no to mention the knob sits lower than stock. Also there is more resistance on the shifter while shifting making it feel very tight in travel distance as well as the shifter feel. This will probably become normal to me over time. Keep in mind this is also coming from someone who just took a 5 minute test drive to make sure my car was good to go for work in the morning at 1 AM. Thought I would share my initial thoughts. Hope you take this post as constructive criticism as I don't intend to bash on you. Your craftsman ship is the best I've experienced and I will certainly be looking in your direction for future mods.
It's pretty obvious but... The side shift sits on the ball. The 17 mm bolt goes in. The other bolt goes in. Then the neutral plunger goes in. There is a groove at the top and bottom. The grey parts of the spring will sit those grooves. The pin of the plunger will sit in the middle of the white part, you know by looking at the already destroyed surface by the plunger. The 12 mm bolt goes into the nut located inside the assembly, do not lose that nut suring disassembly will have bad time. And that's how that works.
It's easy, and worth it. It's simple steps. Remove heatshield, and cover. 8 bolts. Remove cables and 4 bolts from under the assembly. Take trim apart. Remove 4 bolts from shifter assembly. Pull out assembly. Remove two screws holding metal tabs. Remove 10mm nut using 17mm wrench on other end. Remove 12mm bolt. Remove 7mm nut. Punch out the roll pin in the reverse lockout. Remove 10mm nuts from bottom of assembly. Remove shifter rod. Make sure the nut from the 12mm bolt on the plunger did not fall out. Dissasemble new shifter. Put new rod in. Make sure not for 12mm bolt is present. Put bottom cover back on 2 10mm nuts. Back into shifter housing. Put 2 bolts with 7mm nuts back in. Put side shift back on with 17mm bolt and 10mm nut. But plunger back in with 12 mm bolt(make sure the nut is still there). Put two metal tabs back in. Reassemble shifter if not already done. Reinstall in vehicle with 4 bolts. Go underneath car, reconnect cable to shifter. Go back up, make sure you have every gear. Go back down use 4 nut to secure bottom of shifter housing. Reinstall cover of shifter housing. Reinstall heatshield. It's alot, but it's like an.hour of your day.
This video helped a lot, but, omg what a pain. Around 6:33 the part to remove the bottom of the housing the nuts were so tight it spun the whole shaft (where the shift stop goes) Had to drill small holes through the metal and plastic to put a small, 3mm allen wrench in the holes to stop the shaft spinning so I can get the nuts off. Should also be mentioned everything will be greasy when finished. On reinstall wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t entirely easy either. Worth it, yeah for my own car sure but I’ll sell the car with the short shifter if I sell it. I’m not reversing that mod. Most complicated shifter installation I have ever dealt with.
@@hetts_ I was able to fully tighten it back down shifter stop wasn’t a issue. I’m using a Cobb shift stop as well which uses studs with lock nuts unlike factory and other aftermarket shift stops that just use bolts as well.
@@jason216cleveland oh shit, I’ll have to buy a cobb one and see if that can get fully tightened then. Cause right now the Perrin one I have tightens about half way and then the whole thing starts spinning again
@@hetts_ Yeah some people complain about the Cobb shift stop being plastic but it’s the best one I’ve used so far, it’s tall like the factory stop on the reverse side of the shifter so no more fingers getting pinched by the reverse lockout
This looks like a hell of a job. I’m thinking of buying one but how the hell would I get my car in the air if I don’t have a damn garage with an air lift. I’m having second thoughts about this damn short shifter shit lol.
No, not worth doing. The best thing you can do is buy a shift stop for 1st and 2nd gear. It's a few % shorter than the STI shifter. Nothing you will notice, except the first time. Then you'll question why you bought it cause it feels the same. The only difference is the construction.
Nice you can tell it's alot shorter I will be getting this very soon but might be a pain to do this on jack stands, o what I would give to own my own car lift..... nice video guys, love your stuff.
You made that look so easy, And I would love to have the install. But now I have nightmares & pee my bed nightly thinking of attempting this mod. 🛏️😱😱😰🤪🤯🥴🥴🥴
+psychdoggg it may be easier but it does not shorten the height of the shifter. An actual short shifter will shorten the height and throws for a much better shift feel.
My car came with the factory “short shifter” and it’s not nearly the same as the Boomba shifter. I have both the adapter and the lever and it makes worlds of difference. The stock short shifter is not really even a short shifter idk why they call it that
I have a question mechanical experts please inquire. I have the 2015 wrx my car read a double reverse 6th and reverse gear. It was after I swapped to a "2016 transmission specified for 2015-2018 wrx" and put a southbend stage 1 clutch kit+flywheel the in the steering column the ecu read a double reverse from a 6th to reverse shift and in neutral without pressing the clutch in it makes a harsh grinding noise it’s also giving me issues shifting clutch to the floor to first and a few gears. Any diagnosis?
I'm assuming you mean the plunger. The one with the 12mm bolt. You lost the nut that the bolt screws onto. I know it a year ago but i made that mistake. Grinded down one the 10 mills to fit and everything was fine after that. Just replaced one of the other bolts with a random bolt that fit.
I did this install on my 2015 wrx in Oct and now it doesn't seem to go all the way into gear. 1st 3rd 5th. But there's not grinding and it's not difficult to go into any gears. Just doesn't seem to shift the same way into the odd numbers. Any ideas?
serious question...why not just cut the existing shifter down to short throw spec and re-thread the shaft? Would be a 30 min ordeal assuming you have a thread kit
That is not an ideal and effective way of decreasing the throw of the shifter. The real difference is the length of the lower portion of the shifter that connects to the linkage. On aftermarket short throw shifts, that portion of the shifter has been shortened, significantly decreasing the shifter throw. Also, cutting the shifter would cause issues with the reverse lockout.
Jesus christ I don't own a WRX, but this is crazy complex just for a shift knob. My Miata can be done in like 5 minutes with only a few screws. Why did Subaru make it so overly complex?
Shift knob? You just screw that on. But the shifter completely agree. My MR2 was super easy. Just 4 bolts, to remove the shifter assembly. Take of the two cables, pull the shifter of, put the new one in. Connect the 2 cables. Bolt it down with the 4 bolts. I put a billet shifter in a crosstrek. Why, i don't know. But it's the exact same process, pain in the ass.
Of course for one it's 2 inches shorter then the stock stick, I have the STI short shifter in my WRX and honestly it don't really feel much different then the regular one that came with the car I mean it's more stiff but nothing to write home to mama about if you kno what I mean....
We do not have the STI short shifter upgrade installed but I can definitely say I felt the difference right after this was installed. The build quality of the shifter is also very nice and solid.
does anyone know what that little white plastic piece that goes on the end of the shifter is? I lost mine and need to replace it but can't find the name or part number for the life of me.
This is insane lol there should be a lot that comes as a full assembly and once you take the entire block out of the car you can swap it with a full kit.
At 6:53 the nut that the neutral lock plunger screws into flew out of the shifter. Same thing happened to me. Had no idea where to put it back for a good hour as its glossed over in the vid lol.
I did. I had to take out all bolts and resemble it. I made sure to press down hard so the bolts grab and they did. I think on my first try something was off centered causing the bolts to not grab. I hope that helps GL bro
So the 2 10mm on the bottom are also connected to the 2 10 mm at the for the reverse lockout. More than likely what happened was the threads got messed up. I had the issue trying to put in the shift stop, the damn things wouldn't come out. Turns out they only had like 2 threads and the rest was bald. Eventually got it out and lucklily only the bolt was damaged, since i didn't need it anymore.
Who's blue WRX is in all these videos? Do you put all this stuff on for the video and then take it off after? I've noticed items that were in previous install videos aren't on the car.
Hey SubiSpeed, got my Boomba shifter yesterday and installed it today. Let me say that this was a PITA lmao. My only concern is that the Neutral Plunger doesn't seat itself directly in the middle of the white brace from the side shifter assembly. It's on, but not directly in the middle like OEM. The Neutral Plunger bolt appears to not stay put. All in all, it's on and I can roe through all the gears with ease but I'm afraid that power shifting may push the plunger out of alignment. What are you thoughts? Also just a recommendation..... You should supply more Laffy Taffy's based on the difficulty of the install haha. I got so mad at this install that I ate it within the first 30 minutes.
It's just those 4 bolts underneath as to why it's not possible to disassemble from inside the cabin, yeah? Is this doable with just Rhino ramps, or must it be on a lift?
As long as you aren't at risk of dying sure. Although ramps i wouldn't trust. Unless you chock the rear wheels. Sure nothing will probably happen, but it only takes 1 time for that something.
I know the benefits of installing a short throw shifter is pretty noticeable, but everyone in the comments who DID end up doing this just keeps talking about the process. I was hoping to see more people vouching for the actual FEEL of going through the pain of all this rather than just saying it's not that bad to install and do x and y this way to make it easier... AND YOU DON'T EVEN SAY IF IT WAS ACTUALLY WORTH THE INSTALL!
I just installed my boomba sts and noticed that it is extremely off center. It goes into every gear and functions perfectly however I was wondering if it was intended to be so much closer to the driver? I find that the boot will bunch up because its so much lower than stock and sometimes it'll make it hard to get into 1st or 2nd. Is there a way of correcting this, perhaps adjusting cable lengths or something? Would greatly appreciate a response @SubiSpeed Thanks!
Any recommendations with snap ring pliers? I bought a cheap set from Advance Auto Parts, but one or two of the tips on each interchangeable head aren't small enough to fit into the holes of the snap ring...
anyone know the part number for the little white shift lever bushing on the bottom of the shifter he transferred? mine popped out of place and my friend hooked me up and fixed it but unfortunately lost the white bushing and its just the metal ball on the bottom of the shifter that's clipped in right now with no bushing on it. the ones im finding look like they're for the older subaru's and don't look similar to the OEM 2015+ one I had on.
After installing this I can't seem to fit the shifter stop, I have both a perrin and boomba version and they just won't it shift to first and even if I did get it my 5th 6th and reverse won't work. I have had to just not use the shift stop so i could use my 5th,6th and reverse. Does anyone else have this problem or have the fix? I was thinking of sanding it down a little
No, the shift stop is fine. The adapter you are using needs it to be adjusted. Loosen the two 10mm bolts on the shift stop. I am assuming you are using both shift stops. Find 1st gear. Align shift stop. Find 5th gear, align that shift stop. Tighten down 2 bolts. You're good to go. I put in a billet shifter and had that issue. I couldn't get into 5th or 6th. Well eventually i found 5 adjusted the shift stop to there. Don't look for 6th because you might find reverse. 5th is actually really close to 3. It works the same way with cars that have reverse next to first. It's just the opposite. In that case you look for 2nd instead of 1st.
I am thinking to have this shifter. I have 2016 STi and I have factory short thorw shifter. is that going to be same way that WRX has? and should I remove factory STS? Thank you!
@@SubiSpeed it is not wrx specific lol. The imprezza and crosstrek have the same assembly. Any part you can put on a wrx transmission can be transferred over to the crosstrek and imprezza. Because they have the same transmission. The only difference is the shifter plate, and the gearing. Well 2015+wrx and a 2017+imprezza, or 2018+crosstrek.
@@SubiSpeed seeing as how i didn't have a punch or snap ring pliers and mine was done in two hours, of actual work, i would assume that with proper tools, about an hour. It's not as hard as it looks. Remove the heatshield, remove the cover, remover 4 nuts. That's 4 bolts and 8 nuts. So 5 minutes there, +5 for struggles. Remove inner trim, 5 minutes. Remove shifter another 5 minutes. Take shifter apart 5 minutes for everything except the reverse lock out. So maybe 10minutes for that one. Take new shifter apart couple minutes without proper tools. Put rod in assembly and secure 1 minute. Put assembly back together 15-20 minutes. Put shifter back together 5 minutes, without snapring pliers.put assembly back in car 4 bolts on top, 4 on bottom 10 minuts. Reonnect cables 10 seconds. Put cover qnd heatshiepd back on 3 minutes. It's easy, people just want to make it seem complicated because they are confused. But it's really just a lot of small tasks. It's not confusing, just annoying.
Yes, what I have to so is use a chisel to pry out the 4 washers on top, then remove the 6 bolts on the shifter from inside the car, the whole assembly comes out. Afterwards flat out he washer and install them
STI comes with a short shifter. The only upgrades you would need are a shift stop for 1st and 2nd and a shift plate. Neither is necessary but the shift stop i highly recommend. It feels great when you don't travel as far to get into 1st, and they aren't crazy expensive. The shift plate is pricey, but it changes the pivot which decreases your throw even more. That's something you have to try out first. Unfortunately you would need to know someone who has done that mod and drive their car to figure out if you need it. Shorter throws are great, but too short and things get weird. Like i put in a billet short shifter with a shift stop. 4th and 6th feel the same. 1st and 3rd feel the same. They both look the same too. But it's something you get used to. Especially when your car tells you what gear you are in.
Pretty simple but tedious install. Kind of skipped over a few things in the video (don't recall any mention of lining up the up and down arrows on the Boomba when installing the reverse lockout piece). Also... is there such a thing as a SHORT e-brake handle? Lol. My e-brake and weighted shift knob are super close in 2nd gear...
Haha I remember back in the day about 25 years ago just out of high school and I was a brand new licensed driver with my first car that my dad sold me for $1100 and I made it into another ghetto tuner car cuz fast and the furious was all the rage with my car buddies and although just to get that short shifter look I tried cutting down the shifter stalk to make it look shorter since they never made a short short shifter kit for that car and even if there was one on the market I could never afford it as s young broke kid but it was funny now that I look back and see myself trying to grind off my shifter stick with my dremel tool and hack saw to shorten it but the steel used to make the shifter stalk was like hardened like the steel used to make the pedals which I assume is for safety so I said screw it and put it all back together. I can't believe that now I'm a veteran in the auto industry and I'm general manager of a very big and busy repair shop and I'm certified ASE A1 thru A9 and C1 for high traffic service and repair shop. But the install for this truly is a hassle I think my method of chopping down the shifter stalk is much faster with the right tool to cut thru it
If you do it yourself it's the same process, minus the taking apart the assembly. I would save the $100 and buy one of these and just get it over with. Suburus only have a 3 year warranty, so there's no point in trying to keep it "stock from the factory". My 2018 is already out of warranty. Whearas a kia would be under warranty till 2028 if it was a 2018.

Your craftsman ship is the best I've experienced and I will certainly be looking in your direction for future mods.
im having trouble here lol at the end did you reinstall the blue thing and the neutral plunge because you didn't show it in the video
Would be great to see how the side shift assembly is put back together! Great video but just would have liked to see that as a walk through
It's pretty obvious but...
Quite the installation process
I was thinking about doing this, glad I watched this first....PITA install.
Have you done a comparison between the aftermarket short shifter kit vs. the factory short shift kit? Would you share your impressions please.
What size roll pin punch is needed for this install??
wow this is ridiculous amount of work holly crap
You just make me change my mind on doing a short shifter change lol I think I'm going to stay stock ! Lol
riiiiight? lol i was thinking the same thing!
Around 6:33 the part to remove the bottom of the housing the nuts were so tight it spun the whole shaft (where the shift stop goes)
Had to drill small holes through the metal and plastic to put a small, 3mm allen wrench in the holes to stop the shaft spinning so I can get the nuts off.
I had to do something similar, are you able to fully tighten the shifter stop now that that part spins?
I’m having second thoughts about this damn short shifter shit lol.
sticking with the stock shifter on my 2019 wry
STI short shifter vs this Boomba short shifter? Is there much improvement with the swap?
my wrx came with the sti short throw shifter is there a large difference in length between the sti short throw and the boomba??
No, not worth doing. The best thing you can do is buy a shift stop for 1st and 2nd gear. It's a few % shorter than the STI shifter. Nothing you will notice, except the first time. Then you'll question why you bought it cause it feels the same. The only difference is the construction.
Nice you can tell it's alot shorter I will be getting this very soon but might be a pain to do this on jack stands, o what I would give to own my own car lift..... nice video guys, love your stuff.
Good shifter. Really close to the emergency handle in second gear.
Mark Soto I feel that... I wish that wasn’t the case
@@jamesbarnard7450 get a bigger shift knob
Thinking about picking one of these up, do u think it's necessary to buy the boomba transmission plate to go along with it?
You made that look so easy, And I would love to have the install.
But now I have nightmares & pee my bed nightly thinking of attempting this mod. 🛏️😱😱😰🤪🤯🥴🥴🥴
2:20 what happens when you drink "a few" Redbulls
Kian Palmer ahahahhah
Red bull gives you wings.
That you are soo high you are willing enough to do this.
is that a stock j-pipe on your car Subispeed? shame!!!
Have a 2020 wrx an just did the boomba short throw. It wasn’t even that bad. Of course gotta know what you doing
Tips with 5-6 and reverse lockout always letting me in reverse?
If this install is what separates the boys from men, I think I’ll stay the fuck in never land
That looks like a big pain in the ass to install. I just might order it from the factory when i get my 2016 WRX.
The short shifter from factory will not have the same effect as the Boomba Short Throw Shifter.
+xuimod Perrin short shift adapter is by far easier. Adapter, shift stop (which is shown in this video), and bushing ran me about $179 shipped.
+psychdoggg it may be easier but it does not shorten the height of the shifter. An actual short shifter will shorten the height and throws for a much better shift feel.
Good point. If the end goal is 30% shorter shift, I'll opt for the shift adapter. If 60%, then both seem logical.
Looks easy. I just hate crawling under the car lol.
Could be me. But I feel like a ton of super important info is missing here. I also don’t have a reverse lockout now after doing this install
Is this a worthy upgrade if I already have the factory short throw shifter option installed on my 15' WRX? Or are the results very similar?
Yes, this is compatible with the STI short shifter and will reduce your shifter travel.
I’m having trouble reinstalling the green part with the rest of the shift assembly, I’m not sure how to put it back on
I'm assuming you mean the plunger. The one with the 12mm bolt. You lost the nut that the bolt screws onto. I know it a year ago but i made that mistake. Grinded down one the 10 mills to fit and everything was fine after that. Just replaced one of the other bolts with a random bolt that fit.
Since 2015 WRX shifter assembly fits in 2010-2012 Legacy GT, does that mean this SS would work for LGT as well?
What rims and tires are on that blue wrx they look so good.
great video! lots of effort put into this. Thanks for making it for those that mod
Why did you change shift knobs?
2:40 9:23
We had a damaged Raceseng Ashiko laying around so we tossed it on there. :)
What o ring pliers are you using? I can't find one that will fit the oring.
+Eric Trang We got ours at AutoZone
Is this any better than the option short shift upgrade from the dealer?
Of course for one it's 2 inches shorter then the stock stick, I have the STI short shifter in my WRX and honestly it don't really feel much different then the regular one that came with the car I mean it's more stiff but nothing to write home to mama about if you kno what I mean....
We do not have the STI short shifter upgrade installed but I can definitely say I felt the difference right after this was installed. The build quality of the shifter is also very nice and solid.
any chance on u guys doing a video on how to change the transmission oil?
does anyone know what that little white plastic piece that goes on the end of the shifter is? I lost mine and need to replace it but can't find the name or part number for the life of me.
How Come you disconnected the shift cables? The guy in the cobb video skipped that
Did anyone hear him mention about how long it’ll take to do this..?
glad mine already came with the sti short shifter
how is this short shifter compared to the sti short shifter? I looking to have the STI short shifter factory installed when I buy my wrx.
How long was the entire disassemble and reassemble time frame for this whole thing?
God that was a Pain in the ass to put in. But love the feel
This is insane lol there should be a lot that comes as a full assembly and once you take the entire block out of the car you can swap it with a full kit.
Missed so many details. Just like their customer service.
At 6:53 the nut that the neutral lock plunger screws into flew out of the shifter. Same thing happened to me. Had no idea where to put it back for a good hour as its glossed over in the vid lol.
Haha. I had near same issue
Cant get the two 10mm nuts out from under the shift assembly it jus keeps spinning!? Any help?
I'm having the same problem, but with all 4. Did you find any solution?
I did. I had to take out all bolts and resemble it. I made sure to press down hard so the bolts grab and they did. I think on my first try something was off centered causing the bolts to not grab. I hope that helps GL bro
@@gabrieltroopah all I did was put alot of pressure on the bolts and held the back to make the screws spin out. I hope that helps.
@@gabrieltroopah no problem man. Did you end up getting them out? It a was really a bitch
This would fit a 21 wrx right? I’m new to this Subaru world.
Yes it fits
So at 8:51 is that it for the assembly or did you reassemble all the stuff you took off the first time?
Who's blue WRX is in all these videos? Do you put all this stuff on for the video and then take it off after? I've noticed items that were in previous install videos aren't on the car.
misztal2112 This is our shop car. Some items are left on the car while others are installed just for the sole purpose of these videos.
Gabriel Estevez I also have that concern about the shifter not being in the middle. @Subispeed or @BoombaRacing,please comment on this. Thanks!
It's just those 4 bolts underneath as to why it's not possible to disassemble from inside the cabin, yeah?
Is this doable with just Rhino ramps, or must it be on a lift?
As long as you have space underneath the car to get under it then it will work.
As long as you aren't at risk of dying sure. Although ramps i wouldn't trust. Unless you chock the rear wheels. Sure nothing will probably happen, but it only takes 1 time for that something.
Hahahhaha!!! I remember watching your headlight mod install which was really hard to do. Damn, this is alot harder!!!
When I installed this it became much harder to get into gear compared to stock anyone know of a fox
Did it today, its great for feel, but having issues with 5-6 and reverse lockout always letting me In Reverse so I got some trouble shooting to do.
So basically just get an STI with a factory optioned short throw shifter?
Sam Aronshteyn factory ss will not reduce the throw nearly as much as aftermarket ss.
That's how it is designed.
do you have to unbolt the mid-pipe or whatever that portion of exhaust in the video ? and do you need to replace a gasket?
Munther AL-sulaimi you do not need to remove any of the exhaust.
Any recommendations with snap ring pliers? I bought a cheap set from Advance Auto Parts, but one or two of the tips on each interchangeable head aren't small enough to fit into the holes of the snap ring...
+Raphael Monta We just bought whatever they had at our local auto parts store.
I did it without, just took a person helping hold it out of the ridge
the 4 10mm nuts that hold the shift assembly in place don't come off so easily?? I was spinning and spinning and they never budged...? help me
Kyle Gibson did you find a solution? I'm having the same problem
anyone know the part number for the little white shift lever bushing on the bottom of the shifter he transferred? mine popped out of place and my friend hooked me up and fixed it but unfortunately lost the white bushing and its just the metal ball on the bottom of the shifter that's clipped in right now with no bushing on it. the ones im finding look like they're for the older subaru's and don't look similar to the OEM 2015+ one I had on.
Josh Moore any luck ?
How does this compare to the optional short throw shifter available through Subaru?
Spencer Stucky You will see a bigger difference in shift throw and the position of the shifter when the Boomba short throw is installed.
what shift knob did you put on at the end of the video looks heavy and nice too

Their service is light year's ahead of Rally Sport's.
I think I’ll just stick to my OEM and Perrin Shift Stop
I am thinking to have this shifter.
I have 2016 STi and I have factory short thorw shifter. is that going to be same way that WRX has?
and should I remove factory STS?
Thank you!
+Sunghoon KIm This will not work on the 2016 STI it is WRX specific. However, we do have STI short shifters available on our website.
What silver shift knob is it that you end up using. I like it and want it haha

Would you recommand a perrin shifter stop with this STS?
We installed it with that item. May as well since you are already working in this area.
I wish that shift knob wasn’t 110$ that bad boy is sweet
How do you reinstall the side shift assembly?
Jesus. My 2012 took me like half an hour. There’s a ton of steps for these models
How long did it take you. about 2 hours flat time ? Love to no Thanks appreciate it
+Chadd Francisco Can't say for sure since we were filming, but it's going to depend on what tools you have at your disposal.
+SubiSpeed I work at a shop so everything
The studs that the 10mm bolts connect to are all just spinning in place when I went to pull them off. Anyone else having this problem?
Yes, what I have to so is use a chisel to pry out the 4 washers on top, then remove the 6 bolts on the shifter from inside the car, the whole assembly comes out. Afterwards flat out he washer and install them
Awesome video, really well made!!!
Guys what size is the snap ring?
Was the factory sti short throw shifter already installed in the car?
Adam 72 No
Installed and no reverse lockout. Anyone know?
Is this short shifter any different from the stock factory short shifter? Any difference in shorther thows or what???
This is 2 inches shorter so there is a major difference between the two.
So the shifter is 2 inches shorther in length or in the throw
2 inches shorter in height. Shift travel is reduced by 30%
LOL after watching this video, if I ever get an STI, I will order it from Subaru and let them do it hahaha
This is way less travel then sti SS...
Guys, does this eliminate the shifter stop or both can be used?
They can both be used.
Thank you so much my friend
Subaru could have installed short shifter at factory 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Very complex install
But the install for this truly is a hassle I think my method of chopping down the shifter stalk is much faster with the right tool to cut thru it
I see a STI short shifter Assembly in my future.
