    This could have been the best Telltale game. There was so much to work with and then in the end literally none of your character choices mattered. Not a one.

      Actually the late game of Telltales game of thrones varies a fair bit. More than any other telltale game to be honest. The Choice between Asher and Roderic leads to entirely different sequences.

      Yeah don’t know what you idiots are on about. The choices may not be vastly different but they do matter and make many differences in the overall plot. Which is the point of the game. They never lied. It’s just that you idiots hear “branching storylines” and expect 15 different outcomes with vastly different characters, locations and more being present.

I think House Whitehill were part of the Bolton army at The Battle of the Bastards, and thus were annihilated alongside House Bolton. Na it was hinting in season 1 that it was gonna be an alliance with The Whitehill. What romance I see as canon - Rodrik & Elaena and Asher/Gwyn. If Rodrik is dead an Asher with Gywn = Ryon & Elaena / If Asher is dead an Rodrik with Elaena = Ryon & Gwyn. If Rodrik is dead and Asher kill Ludd - Asher & Elaena / Morgryn & Gwyn= depends if Mira is dead or else Gwyn will be determinant in this ending / Talia & Torrhen whitehill.
      Ramsey would likely Flay Ludd for not winning the war against Rodrik = Torrhen side with the Forrester/ If Gryff alive he likely trying abused Elaena would make Torrhen killing his brother siding with the Forrester.
      Edit: I forgot Rodrik & Gwyn hard to describe at the moment.

If we are to make an argument Ironwood must be one of the Top imports of the north considering the Boltons prizes it aswell as Tyrion, Lord Whitehill will be nervous if Ramsey pays a visit, ones they exhaust the stock they have rather then conserve it..
      Also aside from the Boltons when you think about it even if the Forresters return too Ironrath after the Boltons and Whitehills are expelled from the place, the Forresters have to deal with the Whitewalkers next considering they are one of the more Northern Houses in the Region.

    Taking a real house from the books and using the Red Wedding as the jumping off point were both great calls, and really drew me in. I think this game represents the Game of Thrones IP very well. And the structure, with the disparate members of the family separated, smartly gives us the chance to see all the main locales in Westeros just like the main story. Also, the Asher vs Rodrik choice is so inhibiting, they could’ve made that so much wider by having to sacrifice someone important to either of them and letting that affect their respective story arcs. A thematically potent choice would’ve been to give both characters a choice between a loved one and a family member. The mother and Eleana for Rodrik, and Beshka and Talia for Asher. Letting that affect the rest of the story with a myriad of consequences.

    The game quickly goes from season 4 level writing, to season 8 really quickly.
    The choices don't matter, the twists are illogical and cruel (making no sense whatsoever), the in show characters are exaggerations of themselves and overall it becomes a chore to get through.
    Where Walking Dead was different (and better) is that you don't deal with the major characters, you don't run into any of the big villians, you're just another story in that world. It means that your actions matter more and you're not fustrated with your presented lack of control.

The start was STRONG, you felt the same energy and intensity of the show, and got invested into making this house survive. With time, however, everything gets SO frustrating. Every bit of progress you make is undone quickly, the very universe wants you to stay in bad shape, you could do everything right and the result will alost (key word almost) be the same, which is TellTales curse at work I suppose. Still, unlike other works, the way this game constantly punches you in the face gives way more frustration than it is worth. I think the biggest "FUCK YOU" that this game gave me was probably when I chose to let Rodrick live. I felt as if his story made more sense. A man crippled and assumed dead during a bad fight. He comes home, and finds out his father and brother are dead and his family is literally in the worst spot of their lives. So he begins to become a bad ass, and start teaching himself how to fight again, even going as far as saying "I'm going to kill that man.'' So I got invested in his repair and struggle. I liked Asher too, but I kinda felt like his only two character traits were "I am a charming sarcastic guy, and I'm good at fighting", I did, however grow to like him when he got the pit fighters on his side. Rodrick felt a lot more down to earth for me, and I was FAR more invested in his story. So when I choose to let him live, the game parades Asher's head on a pike as if to say "Hey...you made the wrong choice, bud." Because if you choose to let Asher live, they bring Rodrick's body back, all respectful. It felt like a literal middle finger to my choice and I realized how this game was basically torture porn.

    It’s sad that the telltale writers didn’t seem interested in capturing the true feel of The series.
    While the game has fun moments, no matter what you did people were angry with you. Even if you played to their side or kept their secret they still hated you. And as cool as it is to see series characters in the game, ultimately it’s frustrating. We know we can’t stab Ramsey cause he’s alive in the show so it’s a useless option. But that’s how most telltale options are.
    It feels like TT watched a few episodes and all they took away was “main characters die? Absolutely we can do that” but didn’t bother taking in why the book/show does that and how it works. Imagine if right after Ned died, like an episode later, Robb gets killed. And then Sansa and Arya. I understand the game doesn’t have the timeframe to work as the show did but they should have realised that story structure wasn’t good for their time limit.

    I never played the telltale games... mostly because it became fairly obvious immediately that your choices didn't actually matter, which was supposedly the whole point. It's one of the big reasons the studio crashed and burned so bad. I watched it online hoping I was wrong: If I recall Mira dies or gets married to someone evil at the end of her story, and I remember thinking that there was no way she would survive the first episode of the next season specifically so the two plots could meet up and they could use the same recorded dialog, which is what happened in walking dead.

    While the story is decent a lot of it makes no sense, like why would Cersei, Margaery, Tyrion or the Boltons give a shit about an extremely minor dispute between two tiny Northern houses, it'd be different if it were major houses like the Manderlys, Umbers, or Karstarks but it's just two minor noble houses disputing over like 1-2 soldiers being killed in a confrontation, that shit literally happens all the time they would never waste time over something like that. And Mira managing to be a handmaiden to Margaery Tyrell is also absurd, all her handmaidens were Tyrells or related to her and even if some weren't they for sure wouldn't choose Mira Forrester, they would choose a daughter of one of the Tyrell bannermen or something

    The game had some great scenes and dilemmas, I'll give them that. But yet again, most games of Game of Thrones kinda miss the mark when GRRM isn't the one behind the writing. The big appeal of Game of Thrones is the way fantasy tropes are subverted realistically. Ned Stark would be a fine protagonist trying to fix the kingdom, but his disdain for politics and intrigue got him killed. Robb Stark would be a fine protagonist trying to avenge his father and save his sisters, and won every single battle he fought, but lost in the political arena when he lost the Karstarks and broke the deal he made with Walder Frey, and Tywin Lannister, the man who crushed them all got killed ignobly after mistreating Tyrion one time too many.
    And yet, there is a flipside to all the bleakness. Because of the Stark's honor and fairness in dealing with their people, there are multiple conspiracies plotting to return the Starks to power and overthrow the treacherous Boltons. That is loyalty that Tywin can only dream of. Because of the hideous act of breaking Guest Right, every single Frey has a target on their back, and they have lost all goodwill (as little as it was) with every lord in the Riverlands and the North. As Tyrion once said, "You may find it difficult to rule over millions who want you dead." And Lord Tywin's legacy just kept burning itself to the ground the moment he died. The smallfolk hate the sight of Lannisters, the Tyrells are scheming to supplant the Lannisters the same way the Lannisters supplanted the Baratheons, and Cersei put the High Sparrow in power, putting her in a cell that she thoroughly deserves. That's the beauty of GRRM's writing, the world of Game of Thrones is cruel, but it's fair. (Barring being a Riverland's peasant)
    With the Telltale game, they put in the bleakness, but not much of the beauty. Telltale games are all railroads. The biggest offender was the first Lost Legion encounter. They come in, steal your treasure, and threaten to kill you. So you fight them off, and then you get your first choice: do you break his neck or break his leg? The guy says that if you kill him, they'll send the whole Legion after you, but I knew that was bullshit. They'll send the whole Legion after you anyway. So I broke his neck. And so on and so on. The second egregious choice is setting up the second "Red Wedding". Those plots never work out. The mother will die no matter what, so it's better to face them in battle and leave with your honor intact. And what were they thinking giving Myra a choice whether she lives or dies? When you die, that's it. Nothing you fought for matters anymore. Better to cling to life through teeth and nail.

    • @susakuzero
      @susakuzero ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Just because GRRM is involved does not mean its good cause of this. Why you think Winds of Winter does not come out ? Here is my simple theory. Martin was actual fine with the Show ending and was also going for this well maybe not 100% but mostly. And since Fans hated it with a pasion he panicked and had to scrap most of what he had in mind. And now he lost all his confidence and is not able to keep going.

    The problem wants the game played poorly, it looked terrible. The decisions don't mean that much usually. It didn't feel like a next gen game. In fact it felt like it was made for tablets.

    What sucks the most besides the lack of choices meaning in the end is that I actually really enjoy the cast here. There fleshed out, have different personalities and feel good to be around them. The issue is that like many have said is that this game is way to brutal, like it’s actively screwing over the characters but to the point of absurdity even if you did everything right.

    This one of the most interesting Telltale game I've ever played. Shame it never got a second season. I'm sort of glad it never got a second season because I feel like they'd kill off Mira and Asher/Rodrick almost straight away because they can die in the first season which I never do. I'm saying this because of what they did with Jane/Kenny in season 3. I just hate how hopeless it feels sometimes. No what you do, any victories you get are quickly overshadowed by bullcrap. The best that happens is mantaining a good relationship with Sera and that's only if you give a damn about her. Still love the game though.

    • @brendan9868
      @brendan9868 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      They probably won’t get any action or mention as they were never mentioned beyond a throwaway line about the glovers proving a few Forrester men once. Beyond that there is a family that’s bannermen to the Glovers named the Forresters, there’s literally nothing else known about them in the books as George didn’t really create them.
      They’re really only in the game and that isn’t canon to the books or show, so I doubt they’ll suddenly just appear in any form going forward.

      @@brendan9868 True we can only speculate at this point the around the time Jon retakes the North after the battle of the bastards, they could have been restored to power. But the only question is considering they were in the way of the Whitewalkers.
      As they were one of the more northern houses in the north, did they get wipe-out or just like the Starke's, on the brink of extinction.

      The Forresters are only mentioned once as men serving under the Stannis-Aligned Glovers. My headcanon is that Asher and whatever little was left of Ironrath joined them and Asher is just waiting for revenge against the Boltons and Whitehills after Stannis wins
      Which considering how things usually go with Stannis I dont think Asher will get

    Why is Margery such a jerk in this game? Much of character in the show and books is about her keeping up a persona of being kind and charming, while being subtly cunning and ambitious, but here, she’s just kind of a annoying and easily angered jerk.
    It would have been better if Margery somehow used Mira to benefit House Tyrell, like maybe if she donates funds, she wants House Forrester to acts as spy’s and informants in the North, and (in the future) possibly even have them plot to kill Stannis.
