This is exactly my plan! I want to see what everything is like so I can specialise down the line without restricting myself now, its so interesting. (Robotics is my goal career)
as a mechanical engineer, I confirm that the software, computer and electronic guys get more credit for salary negotiation. As pointed out, its usually to do with the type of work we do vs the world's tech focus - a mechanical engineer would have been the top dog 50 years ago where as now we focus more on computers in general. I've wanted to do a mechatronics Masters degree ever since senior year. Hopefully soon. Although mechanical engineers still get paid less, we continue to thrive on numbers, logic and problem solving. Most mechanical engineers i know ended up in finance or business analytics.
I am an Electronics Engineer but what I've seen if you want grow up professional there is a certain point were you need some mechanical knowledge, some you gain from expereince and getting involve in multiple projects, division and not only focusing in software that most normally do, they just focus in one area. Mechanical Engineers normally are the main Project Managers but some lack in software knowledge. A mechantronics Engineer is very good in my opinion because you have knowledge of both Electronics and Mechanical Engineering but at same time are not the best in both worlds. So in general depending what you want to focus, if you want Software not necesarily need mechatronics but if you want to work in Automotive, creating machines, etc choose mechatronics or mechanical Engineering. I do respect all Engineering areas you need to learn all you can and grow up personal and professional
I think mechatronics engineering is based mainly inside the automation field you know PLC's programing VFD's or even SCADA networks, and that's is why I'd like to do a master degree.
Thanks to you now I feel quite relieved... Because I already choose mechatronic engineering as my degree course but I don't feel confident with my choice and after watching your video I think I made the right decision🙏🙏

Any engineer can start their own business! I’m actually doing some websites on the side while in school, so that’s a small business right there. But, you learn so much in engineering, all you have to do is apply those skills to make a product or service that you think other people will like, and then make a good value proposition and try to sell it

Hi Oliver, I saw this video so many times just for the sake of satisfaction that mechatronics is really worth it. Like, do the companies actually hire them?
Can u please give me some tips where I can found some extra information to learn more and get a job easyer. Like, what programs mecatronics engeneers do use or what knowledge do I need to insist on in the university. I am 2 grade of 4 and I feel I still don't know exactly on what should I insist. I would love to be in one of the greatest company in the present and to have something to do there to help the future to be more kind to us.

Depends what you are interested in. If you're asking me I'm obviously going to tell you mechatronics, but there are situations where control and automation might be more useful to you based on where you want to work.
Sorry my English is not good enough but I hope you can understand what I said. In my country we either should study mechanical or electrical engineering then we can start mechatronic Which is better ? 1) to get mechatronic degree as a mechanical engineer 2) to get mechatronic degree as an electrical engineer
In first world countries will go more like you say, but in countries here like in colombia believe me, there are plenty of jobs relating to the management area, such as mantainement boss and things like that, other option would be taking a job as a technician, but it is bad paid, however, there are still a few jobs about programming, but as you know you shoud at least have a knowledge about python (and its AI modules), or if you have some kind of luck you will end up working for the projects area of a company, but, it is still a blurry way, I would have rather taken a programming career, mechatronics sucks, believe me guys, I tought it was a good idea back in 2015 and now in 2021 I say that it is not a good way, the good thing is that I've repared my microwave, fridge and some other home devices, just that.
It's a blessing and a cursed that Google recommended this video after I searched up mechatronic engineering since I just left high school. Pretty scary and cool.
Hey Oliver! Thankyou for this info. Btw I have a question. A mechanical engineer who had studied core subjects like thermal, fluid, Heat transfer. Would he be able to cope up with Mechatronics subjects that are taught in a Master degree.
Depends on the school. But I think the biggest differences are that you’d be doing lots more coding and circuits in mechatronics. Check out my Tron vs Mech Vs Software video, I think it does a good job explaining the differences.
Yeah sure. It’s really job dependent. If you work in a more mechanical role you’ll probably do lots of 3D design and drafting. But if you work in software you’ll probably do a lot more coding. I think I’ll do a video about skills, I like the idea. Thanks
@@OliverFoote Thank you. Actually, I am a mechanical engineer and working as a mechanical design engineer from last 5 years. I work on Solidworks software. Now, I am planning to purse Mechatronic. Hence, I need more information about course and scope. plz reply
Mechatronics has a lot more circuits and very low level software. Some of the first things you’d have to do is learn how to code. Once you have some base level coding knowledge next you should look into assembly language and C code and working with embedded microcontrollers. There’s a lot of system on a chip in my coursework. We are also learning how to use FPGA’s and logic design with Verilog. There’s also control systems courses, using things like Matlab and Simulink, learning about transfer functions and whatnot. That’s just a few things I’d take a look at a university website for the courses and mechatronics engineer would take and then try to learn about those topics. A lot of places also put course syllabuses online and there are textbooks in those syllabuses that are very good at covering a particular topic
Would you think it would be smarter to get a degree in Electrical or Mechanical as well as Mechatronics engineering (especially if you're interested in both) or does it really have any value to have both in regards to finding a job?
You can do your engineering degree, but you have to keep a 4.0GPA in engineering, which isn’t impossible, but it is extremely difficult. If you’re able to do that, then you can apply to medical school after your undergraduate degree
Hi Oliver I'm from India and i did my B.tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering . I've selected post graduate master in Mechatronics , could you tell what would be the syllabus or topics i will be going to study for next 2 years .
ill say now finding a job is killing me. every time I look up anything related near where I live they need other schooling or experience I don't have not just mechatronics and it's impossible to find an entry level position in this field .....help.
What type of software skills, additional to a degree, would be beneficial to learn outside of school for a software position, with a mechatronics degree?
Hey what about Mechatronic Engineers in the space industry such as Rovers and Satellites? Is their a higher demand for something else? Or would Mechatronics be the best degree?
Hey man, I'm currently a first year mechanical engineering student. I always thought of mechatronics and I really wanted to study it as my bachelor. However, most of the programs in my country where technology programs, and many people recommended doing an engineering degree(especially a focused eng degree such as mechanical, electrical,..) and then specializing in mechatronics. So my current plan is to grasp all the mechanical eng fundamentals and learn the coding and electronics subjects by myself. Maybe after some years of mechanical I would opt for another specialization nobody knows. My advice is that whatever you study, always be hungry to learn more about other engineering displines that intrest you. Best of luck!!! ❤️
I don’t do a level maths, I do computer science, economics and psychology but am interested in this degree, so I might have to do foundation year unless I can find good courses without A level maths

Works in an open-sourced system and initiates an electromotive force of energy that matches up the SOST's speed to the processors speed. Starts your robot walking and talking on his own power.
Useful information 😎
Very informative and to the point!
U make me fall In love more with mechatronics
Thank you so much, this video is so helpful.
I really like your video! Please keep doing more videos about mechatronics! Can a mechatronics engineer start an own business? Be blessed dude!
Any engineer can start their own business! I’m actually doing some websites on the side while in school, so that’s a small business right there. But, you learn so much in engineering, all you have to do is apply those skills to make a product or service that you think other people will like, and then make a good value proposition and try to sell it
Hi from Turkey,i am in 4 years mechatronics engineering department, i am following you 👍

Thank you for your useful information .now I am clear about my degree .
great vdo , loved it
Dude, i.am french and that video really helped me. I am kind of really confused right now about my futur and this type of video, explaining with facts is really great. Have a nice day and coming doing your videos !
Thanks!
Getting my hard limit in just the second year, I completely suck at theory I now realize
Robotics Code for Cognition Ignition
F=m*45*53
Works in an open-sourced system and initiates an electromotive force of energy that matches up the SOST's speed to the processors speed. Starts your robot walking and talking on his own power. Ask if he needs anything. Works on a partial build or one-armed stationary robot.
So helpful thank you!!
I love it .
I do like and subscribe.
Please do another video of skills that required for a mechatronics engineer 👨🏽💻
A great benefit of this video
Hey man i am a Mechatronics engineering student what you've said is totaly correct keep the good content
Thanks!
you gave us hope. thx
Im two months away from studying mechatronics and this was a confidence booster
loved this vid !!
Thanks!
This is really useful to a new Undergraduate student who want to know future jobs about Mechatronics (and their parents probably:)). I was not clear when I was a undergraduate student. Hope this video appears earlier and recommended to me earlier.
Do project is a very good suggestion, I’m doing my master degree right now and I regret I didn’t do any in my bachelors degree. (Master degree’s studying fills up my time;( )
Lastly, get your hands “dirty” when you study engineering!
Projects are definitely overlooked! In some ways they’re more important than your classes and grades. Hope your masters degree is going well
Thank you so much bro for information 🤙🏻
Happy to help
I see a lot of people saying their moral is boosted and i agree!!!
I love being a micatronic engineer micatronic for future
Keep up the good work❤
Hi Oliver, I saw this video so many times just for the sake of satisfaction that mechatronics is really worth it. But, Oliver I have been researching a lot and got to know that the skills a mechatronics engineer learns are insane and even I wanna learn 'em but no-one knows this type of engineering and the thing is in other engineering fields like computer science, software etc there are already so many ppl....so Oliver could you pls advise me about the real truth of a mechatronics engineer....is it really worth it? Like, do the companies actually hire them?
Yes.
New video coming soon! But it's a lot about who you know and less about what you know, obviously having direction is good, but connections are the things that usually get you a job.
This is a very good video.. concise explanation.. this is quite good..
Thank you!
Great video mate , you cleared most of my doubts . Can I know if we are doing mechatronics degree focusing on automation engineering what are the best companies?
Tesla is the first that comes to mind. But there literally thousands of manufacturing companies or even tech companies with large databases that higher automation people to help them out.
Geotab, Square, FAANG. Etc
OMG thank u so much , you are just a great person, I though I won't get a response ..... I would love to work at tesla :) but should start small them to ur dream
Currently studying mechatronics engineering but still don't feel any jobs I can do
Hey I’m doing a IMC (instrumentation measurement and control ) hons degree , they are offering a process control and automation unit or a mechatronics . What do you think would be more beneficial
Depends what you are interested in. If you're asking me I'm obviously going to tell you mechatronics, but there are situations where control and automation might be more useful to you based on where you want to work.
Sorry my English is not good enough but I hope you can understand what I said.
In my country we either should study mechanical or electrical engineering then we can start mechatronic
Which is better ?
1) to get mechatronic degree as a mechanical engineer
2) to get mechatronic degree as an electrical engineer
Agreed I just applied for mechatronic
Lol, definetly is cool, there's a lot to look forward to. Mechatronics is the future!
Awesome and Subscribed... Could you plz tell us what exactly skill is required in the mechatronic engineering.. Like cad software and all?
@@OliverFoote ooh thank you.. Is is easy or complicate?
I would say it’s quite complicated. But the more you learn the better you get at figuring things out
Nice information I am from India.
I'm Brazilian, I intend to study mechatronics in Canada
Would you think it would be smarter to get a degree in Electrical or Mechanical as well as Mechatronics engineering (especially if you're interested in both) or does it really have any value to have both in regards to finding a job?
Great video. Which software or group or softwares is best for a Mechatronics Engineer to learn. Thanks.
Now that I know this... time to search for multiple hours for a mechatronics engineering program :’)
LOL, yup, they aren't very common unfortunately, if you can't find one look into computer or electrical engineering.
@@OliverFoote I’m still a junior in high school so more might pop up in the next years of high school I have
Man u awesome. One more question. I want to be a neurologist and mechanical engineer. What can I do
You can do your engineering degree, but you have to keep a 4.0GPA in engineering, which isn’t impossible, but it is extremely difficult. If you’re able to do that, then you can apply to medical school after your undergraduate degree
Try medical engineering
Hi Oliver I'm from India and i did my B.tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering . I've selected post graduate master in Mechatronics , could you tell what would be the syllabus or topics i will be going to study for next 2 years .
Congratulations bro
Hello
ill say now finding a job is killing me. every time I look up anything related near where I live they need other schooling or experience I don't have not just mechatronics and it's impossible to find an entry level position in this field .....help.
You know you are confused when your thumbnail shows you wearing a hardhat but you are a mechatronics engineer
Lol, yup
What type of software skills, additional to a degree, would be beneficial to learn outside of school for a software position, with a mechatronics degree?
Hey what about Mechatronic Engineers in the space industry such as Rovers and Satellites? Is their a higher demand for something else? Or would Mechatronics be the best degree?
Hey Oliver,
Do you recommend to take mechanical and then specialize in mechatronics
Or
Directly pursue a bachelor's mechatronics degree
I'd love the answer to this
Hey man, I'm currently a first year mechanical engineering student. ❤️
I am in my 3rd year bachelors in mechanical but I am willing to get into mechatronics job
I don’t do a level maths, I do computer science, economics and psychology but am interested in this degree, so I might have to do foundation year unless I can find good courses without A level maths
