Music Publishing 101: How to Become a Music Publisher?

If you’ve watched our previous videos you already know that in exchange for a percentage of your royalties, the music publisher will collect royalties and licensing fees, seek out synchronization deals for TV and film placements, and sometimes provide cash advances to cover living or touring expenses.
But deals like this are harder and harder to come by, and songwriters have been starting their own music publishing company. The truth is you don’t need a business degree to take control of your music. Depending on the segment of the music industry, it’s not unusual for songwriters to also be their own publishers.

To get your music on amazon and spotify you need to use a music distributor (CdBaby, Tunecore, Distrokid etc)
