I’d place mondo’s higher on the list actually because I analyzed the heck out of it and it’s actually pretty deep. First off, the butter situation, the part that most likely confused everyone. It was because of mondo’s biggest fear, turning soft. And I mean, what’s more soft then butter. It was meant to represent his weak side in a way, at least I think it was. Also the circling tigers are a bit meaningful too because mondo’s favorite animal is a tiger. Now getting into a slightly more analytical approach, monokuma and his part in the execution. I think he was chosen to represent mondo (biggest indication being the wig) and mondo was actually meant to represent daiya. Think back to the car crash where daiya had died. Basic gist the whole thing was planned and initiated by mondo/monokuma. (Btw I’m not saying mondo necessarily planned his death, rather planned the bike race thing) mondo was being reckless and taking the lead before noping out after almost getting hit by a truck. Monokuma noped out leaving mondo in the cage by himself to die. Both daiya and mondo were kinda left to die. Of course one was on accident while the other on purpose but you get the gist.
Another thing I would like to add is that Mondo wanted to go out in an honorable way. The fact that he went out in one of the silliest and weirdest executions was probably to bring him more despair.

I got an idea for a case: imagine a case where you actually know the culprit. Hell, you see them in the act, and you almost die as well, but they didn't kill you via sheer luck. However, the killer acts like a nice, calm, charasmatic person, and you are kinda an asshole with a talent like ultimate thief or something...and the killer also tried to frame you. But, only you know the killers true personality. So basically you have to convince everyone on what really happened, prove that you really aren't a bad person and clear your name, and break through the killers bullshit. Now imagine if this is the first case. How is this?
i actually have a fangan in mind where the protagonist is the ultimate mortician. she’s pretty untrustworthy at the beginning since her talent is related to death and she’s terrible at socialising. so i could definitely see this scenario playing out and her having to convince everyone that she’s innocent even though she has proof. your idea is really interesting :0 if i use it for future reference i’ll save your username so i could credit you if that’s okay with you! i’m not planning on making my fangan a full fledged thing but i do plan on posting about it sometimes just for fun
I kinda had a fangan case like this that I thought of quite a while ago. I'll try to explain in the quickest way possible. Basically the culprit is the Ultimate Miner but he's blind. During a non-stop debate that goes over everyone's location at the time of the murder, he says that he was in the library searching for some braille to read. However this a lie because during the first section of the game when exploring the areas for the first time, you have a conversation with him and inform him that there's no braille for him to read. As the protagonist is the Ultimate Librarian. When you call him out on this he pushes this accusation away and accuses you of lying as no one else was around when you told him that so no one can prove who is lying and who is telling the truth. This is basically the game revealing that it was him and you just gotta prove it to the others with other evidence from the murder. Oh and all the while he doesn't panic or get angry. He just a calm and chill guy even when being accused of murder. So what do you think? I thought of this a long time ago but I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts 😊
I think Chiaki is kinda "😐" during all her execution because it's the second time she is dying, since she also died in reality. She understood that Junko wanted to plunge her in despair, so she made herself "despair-proof". Thus, she is really neutral about dying because she knows how it feels and what reaction she souldn't have. Moreover, if she knows that she was the key element causing her classmates to fall in despair, then she would try to avoid showing sadness or anything, so her classmates wont be despaired again in the simulation
Kaede’s execution should be near the top, the complete shock of the protagonist dying mixed with her getting hung is really disturbing, not to mention she is terrified of messing up on stage and that becomes a reality when the execution started
I had an idea for an execution. So. The one being executed is (basically, my OC) the Ultimate Comedian, and for his trial, i imagine he's in a kyoko situation, since he's actually part of the staff working on the show, and is there to make sure the show goes on as planned (but eventually, after spending time with everyone he realised the killing game is wrong, what a shocker and tries to rebel, which leads to the mastermind fabricating evidence to get him killed). because of his knowledge of the plot, he acts like he can see the future (which he technically can) and while he acts lazy and goofs around (he has trouble taking most situations seriously), he's actually a badass (this is because he needs to be able to defend himself from rogue participants). Anyway, that got a little off topic. So in his execution the little chain thing comes to grab him, but he's able to dodge it and shoot monokuma (i imagine there was an armory that he took the pistol from). More chain's come and he keeps dodging, over and over. When the last chain misses, he is exausted, but gestures everyone to follow him, and as he stumbles off, everyone in shock, a *BANG* is heard, and he collapses to the floor, dead. This kicks off the next chapter, where everyone tries to figure out who shot him, and henceforth, who the mastermind is.
I find celeste's death funny cuz she wanted to die all 17th century style but monokuma just hits her with reality that she's in the 21st century (puns intended)
minus their reactions, i thought leon’s execution was probably one of the best in the series. it was a great first execution, and it did a great job introducing the concept so other executions later in the series could go all out.
What make's Kaede's execution so shocking besides being led to believe she was the main protagonist along with learning she was the partner to the true main protagonist the Ultimate Detective Shuichi in discovering the Mastermind's true identity which was unknown at that point since it was Chapter 1. Is learning later on she was framed for Rantaro's murder by the main villain of the game the Mastermind aka Tsumugi however it's a little more complicated then that as during the end of the trial portion of Rantaro's murder is you have two options when you're now finally playing as Shuichi one of which is you can withhold evidence that would lead to the canonical outcome of Kaede getting successfully framed and unfairly executed, and get a non-canonical bad ending where Shuichi is the one who gets successfully framed, and unfairly executed, and the other option is follow the canon route. Basically Tsumugi being the clever villainess that she is successfully rig the first trial to result in either Shuichi or Kaede getting unfairly executed and various fans including me have this theory stating as the 1st trial was winding down Kaede gave Shuichi a non-vocal signal to present the evidence that would result in her being framed and unfairly executed as she figured out her and Shuichi were in a no-win situation where the 2nd casualty was going to be one of them via an unfair execution and that Shuichi being the Ultimate Detective stood a much better chance of figuring out who the Mastermind is and getting justice then her, so she basically decided to willingly sacrifice herself so Shuichi could continue and eventually bring the Mastermind aka Tsumugi to justice.

And if proven true then that means Kaede had great foresight as she figured out that the Mastermind had essentially rig the first trial to insure her or Shuichi would be successfully framed and unfairly executed so by giving Shuichi the non-vocal signal to present the evidence that would insure her unfair execution she was actually planting the seeds of the Mastermind's defeat as she knew out of the two of them Shuichi with his status as the Ultimate Detective stood the best chance of stopping the Mastermind.
I think the reason Chiaki closed her eyes was because of Monomi. She closes her eyes right as Monomi gets crushed so i think she just doesn’t want to see her friend die
I would say Celeste's execution is actually symbolic to her. She hates the fact if being normal and she was very happy with being burned like a past witch. That's why she was smiling. However she stopped smiling when she saw the fire truck because that is the most common way to die meaning she would go out with her death being normal.
I would honestly have Gonta break out of his chains and be forced to kill the wasp trying to kill him, as he refuses to harm a bug and his final moments would be spent in despair knowing that he had killed a bug, and when he falls to his knees in defeat, Monokuma would torch him. Also yes, I should see a therapist.
when he talked about the kyoko/makoto execution, i always heard "i just love detention" and i was so confused until i replayed and finally heard "the tension" instead of dentention
Mikan’s execution makes sense because of her fear of people not noticing her (cuz in space there is barely anything) and the arm is for her fear of big objects
in defense of chiakis reactions during her execution, i think they were pretty normal? if thats the right word? considering shes an ai, she wouldnt really have more ‘human’ emotions, no matter how complex her programming is. i mean, in dr3, you can see a noticeable difference in her personality and emotions and everything because shes actually alive rather than being a robot personally i think they make sense but to each their own
Basically, Chiaki already accepted she was gonna die until she saw the door and had a flash of hope again, just to get trapped and slowly seeing how she's about to die and while that is happening she is trying to accept again and that's why she looks so calmed (she is scared cuz she obviously didn't want to die but she already knew she didn't have a way to escape so she just accepted it)

I'll be honest its been a while since I saw the Danganronpa 3 anime so I don't remember it too well but what I do remember is that her execution was more brutal than any of the ones in the games. I was depressed for a good hour after I saw that so if I had to put it on the list, I'm guessing it would just miss top 5 or just make it to the top 5. Again thats more of a guess since its been 2 or 3 years since I saw danganronpa 3
For Kazuichi's odd reactions, I'm like 90% sure that there are only a certain number of sprites characters can use in the overworld, pretty sure it's an optimization thing, it may be that the sprites are technically models in the games engine, and on the PSP, which the game's engine was intended for, the console isn't that great with loading things quickly from my experience, so to load both a model AND a sprite at the same time may be too much for their game engine to handle on the PSP, and then when they ported it to pc and mobile, it was likely for the most part a direct port. The mobile version may have actually had even less work done to it (runs at like 10FPS maximum 90% of the time on a Galaxy S8+), so it makes sense why it was never fixed. I can't defend V3 here though, that was for more updated consoles, so that game has no excuse other then possibly being done to maintain consistency between games.
I agree with most of these placements, and even the ones I dont agree with I understand. However, im going to have to have a HARD disagree for the placement of Leon's execution. It works because of how plain it it. As the first execution in the franchise (not counting Jin Kirigiri) it does a fantastic job at telling the player this game doesn't fuck around. It's also incredibly dark, brutal, and realistic, and leaves a big impact on the player. I personally think it deserves to be in the top 5 or top 3.
Yea I didn't really rank these based on how I liked them when I played the game. I just looked at them all in one sitting and ranked them based on how much I liked them in that specific moment. If I was ranking the executions from how much impact they had in the game, Leon's would be much higher
I just wanna talk about Mikan’s execution since it’s so weird. one thing i learned is that in her report card it states that mikan dislikes oversized things, and the arm blasted off is her left arm, which if you look at her design her left lower arm is bandaged up. i definitely hate the fan service in it, but i think that there is a little more depth in the execution that no one cares to see since it’s such a dumb execution. also one last thing, i think the fact that mikan loves taking care of her patients because she feels in control connects to this execution because she is not in control. she’s the patient and once again she can’t do anything. and now everyone hates her, which would fill mikan with the most despair, being hated by everyone, not being in control as the nurse, the big objects, and the arm representing her bandaged arm.

Mikan’s executed is so goddamn underrated! The worst execution was Teruteru’s, like, what did it do to cause him despair? It was only faulted to his talent! Now Mikan’s, it has both her talent AND despair, yet NOBODY SEES IT! She hates oversized objects which explains the giant arm and giant syringe, and then the reason for the arm is because it’s the left arm, and Mikan’s left arm is bandaged! Also, the way she “reacts” to the syringe relates to her sexual abuse. Also, the rocket refers to her going to her “beloved.” So yeah. Think more before you speak.
Kaede is top 5 minimum for me. I’d have it either 1st or 2nd personally. It’s by far the most dramatic and disturbing execution and it’s literally the protagonist getting killed.
agreed, also the fact that she (spoiler) wasn’t even truly the killer which is represented as her not touching the black keys and the audience that she’s always wanted to perform for booing her
I'm pretty sure chiaki is just indifferent to the situation. She knows what to expect, and she's often that way twords other things. Plus she's an A.I.
junko turned the intensity of the executions to a lower level so she could survive them (except after school lesson) and chiaki is an ai, the future foundation didn’t expect chiaki (or anyone) to die in the simulation, so they didn’t give chiaki a proper reaction to death. that’s probably why her emotions are mixed, she doesn’t know what to do
I dont think the rank should be on how basic or how much is going on it is I think it should be how deep/how much despair the final moments are. for example Leon kept saying how he didnt like baseball and never went to practise, what happend? His execution was based on a baseball practice. Gontas was also really good in my opinion cause the things he admired, bugs, are what killed him. Also monophanie being "pregnant" before the trial shows that tsumugi planed everything. As for mondos the top comment explains it pretty well. I think junkos should be lower as, correct me if im wrong, there was little to nothing represting despair for her. I think they should have included her sister or done something that brings any type of hope.
don't take this video too seriously. Honestly I don't care that much for the executions in the first place. Like they're fun to watch for the first time but it's not something I put a lot of thought into when making the list. I just watched them all in succession and made this ranking without thinking about the deeper meaning behind them
Okay, Mikan's execution makes me uncomfy. Not because of the fan service, or anything. It's because the arm. The giant arm being pumped up full of whatever is in that syringe that Dr. Killgood was holding. It just.... made my arm feel hecking weird irl. I don't like it at all, anyway. From my memory, the reason Usami didn't do to Monokuma what she did to Junko is because when she was getting ready to do it, she turned her back for a second, and Monokuma took advantage of the opening she left and attacked, getting the upper paw in the process.
My favorite(?) part about Celeste’s execution, is that she wants to go out in a unique way (burning at the stake) but is actually killed in one of the most common ways to die (car crash)

I would say Celeste's execution is actually symbolic to her. She hates the fact if being normal and she was very happy with being burned like a past witch. That's why she was smiling. However she stopped smiling when she saw the fire truck because that is the most common way to die meaning she would go out with her death being normal.

Basically, Chiaki already accepted she was gonna die until she saw the door and had a flash of hope again, just to get trapped and slowly seeing how she's about to die and while that is happening she is trying to accept again and that's why she looks so calmed (she is scared cuz she obviously didn't want to die but she already knew she didn't have a way to escape so she just accepted it)
I like how Gundham goes to heaven at the end of his execution. It’s strangely considerate from the writers

I'll be honest its been a while since I saw the Danganronpa 3 anime so I don't remember it too well but what I do remember is that her execution was more brutal than any of the ones in the games. I was depressed for a good hour after I saw that so if I had to put it on the list, I'm guessing it would just miss top 5 or just make it to the top 5. Again thats more of a guess since its been 2 or 3 years since I saw danganronpa 3

For Kazuichi's odd reactions, I'm like 90% sure that there are only a certain number of sprites characters can use in the overworld, pretty sure it's an optimization thing, it may be that the sprites are technically models in the games engine, and on the PSP, which the game's engine was intended for, the console isn't that great with loading things quickly from my experience, so to load both a model AND a sprite at the same time may be too much for their game engine to handle on the PSP, and then when they ported it to pc and mobile, it was likely for the most part a direct port. The mobile version may have actually had even less work done to it (runs at like 10FPS maximum 90% of the time on a Galaxy S8+), so it makes sense why it was never fixed. I can't defend V3 here though, that was for more updated consoles, so that game has no excuse other then possibly being done to maintain consistency between games.
I agree with most of these placements, and even the ones I dont agree with I understand. However, im going to have to have a HARD disagree for the placement of Leon's execution. It works because of how plain it it. As the first execution in the franchise (not counting Jin Kirigiri) it does a fantastic job at telling the player this game doesn't fuck around. It's also incredibly dark, brutal, and realistic, and leaves a big impact on the player. I personally think it deserves to be in the top 5 or top 3.
Yea I didn't really rank these based on how I liked them when I played the game. I just looked at them all in one sitting and ranked them based on how much I liked them in that specific moment. If I was ranking the executions from how much impact they had in the game, Leon's would be much higher

I just wanna talk about Mikan’s execution since it’s so weird. one thing i learned is that in her report card it states that mikan dislikes oversized things, and the arm blasted off is her left arm, which if you look at her design her left lower arm is bandaged up. i definitely hate the fan service in it, but i think that there is a little more depth in the execution that no one cares to see since it’s such a dumb execution. also one last thing, i think the fact that mikan loves taking care of her patients because she feels in control connects to this execution because she is not in control. she’s the patient and once again she can’t do anything. and now everyone hates her, which would fill mikan with the most despair, being hated by everyone, not being in control as the nurse, the big objects, and the arm representing her bandaged arm.
Actually the magic that gundham used was to protect his hamsters cause he didn’t think he deserved to live after murdering mechamaru

@@insertclevernamehere6607 Personally, my headcanon is that Gundham was trying to save himself (I know this sounds bad but I say this because it didn't look like the hamsters were in any danger anyway) and Monokuma, being the all-powerful AI that he is in this game, made it look like it was going to work (hence the glowing) but turned it off at the last second. Your opinion is valid too though

Mikan’s executed is so goddamn underrated! The worst execution was Teruteru’s, like, what did it do to cause him despair? It was only faulted to his talent! Now Mikan’s, it has both her talent AND despair, yet NOBODY SEES IT! She hates oversized objects which explains the giant arm and giant syringe, and then the reason for the arm is because it’s the left arm, and Mikan’s left arm is bandaged! Also, the way she “reacts” to the syringe relates to her sexual abuse. Also, the rocket refers to her going to her “beloved.” So yeah. Think more before you speak.

junko turned the intensity of the executions to a lower level so she could survive them (except after school lesson) and chiaki is an ai, the future foundation didn’t expect chiaki (or anyone) to die in the simulation, so they didn’t give chiaki a proper reaction to death. that’s probably why her emotions are mixed, she doesn’t know what to do
I dont think the rank should be on how basic or how much is going on it is I think it should be how deep/how much despair the final moments are. for example Leon kept saying how he didnt like baseball and never went to practise, what happend? His execution was based on a baseball practice. Gontas was also really good in my opinion cause the things he admired, bugs, are what killed him. Also monophanie being "pregnant" before the trial shows that tsumugi planed everything. As for mondos the top comment explains it pretty well. I think junkos should be lower as, correct me if im wrong, there was little to nothing represting despair for her. I think they should have included her sister or done something that brings any type of hope.
don't take this video too seriously. Honestly I don't care that much for the executions in the first place. Like they're fun to watch for the first time but it's not something I put a lot of thought into when making the list. I just watched them all in succession and made this ranking without thinking about the deeper meaning behind them

Okay, Mikan's execution makes me uncomfy. Not because of the fan service, or anything. It's because the arm. The giant arm being pumped up full of whatever is in that syringe that Dr. Killgood was holding. It just.... made my arm feel hecking weird irl. I don't like it at all, anyway. From my memory, the reason Usami didn't do to Monokuma what she did to Junko is because when she was getting ready to do it, she turned her back for a second, and Monokuma took advantage of the opening she left and attacked, getting the upper paw in the process.

I think the reason Chiaki is expressionless in the Tetris part was because she don't want to show despair like during the shooting segment and the Pacman part. So I literally just pulled up a video showing all the executions and then I just ranked them based on how much they entertained me. I didn't do it off analysis and I didn't base it off context in the game. Don't take the video too seriously lol. Numbers 1 and 2 are for sure my top 2 though
