I get it, in the sense of the game's lore. Defense-attorneys are perpetually looked-down upon in the AA universe (or perhaps that's just Phoenix's agency) and their justice-system is lackadaisical toward the defense. Perhaps the paper-badge fooled them or they don't care.

Heavenly luck is so lame. It is my biggest problem with Danganronpa Another. I never really liked the canonical idea of Izuru as an incredibly overpowered super-human but Utsuro somehow feels even more ridiculous. It was never supposed to be very realistic but some things feel too much.

That’s because he never actually got many cases in 7 years, and only the cheap low profile ones.

If I cared about continuity and lore and stuff, I would be unhappy about DD. But I can’t say it’s a bad game. It’s expertly done, it’s well written, the characters are amazing. So I don’t hate the game. I like to imagine they are..two separate games set in the same universe. AJ is about Apollo and his character story sort of ended there, and DD is just a random month in AAverse. Not meant to be a continuation of anything.

To be fair, they lost to Phoenix, who is a prodigy.

I don't really have a problem with 3rd cases in particular, but in general I found Danganronpa's tendency to repeat itself in terms of the structure of each case in each game a little tiring, especially in V3. The sympathetic murder in case 2, the double murder in case 3, the gentle giant sacrifices themself in case 4, the 'chaos agent goes off the rails' in case 5, the similarities are cool the second time but boring the third. I will say, I hated Hiyoko and was glad Mikan killed her, if only it was her bullying that was the motive.

I loved the Apollo Justice game. I will admit it has some problems, but personally I'd say it's my favourite out of the main line games. Dual destinies was fine, but nothing amazing. I loved the final 2 cases, and case 1 was fine. But case 2 is in my bottom 3 cases in the series. And I wish in case 3, they made it so one of the friends actually was the killer. Would have made it way more interesting than it being the obvious "ends justify the means" guy.

v3's 3rd case I was cheering, cause I don't like Tenko, and I hate Ange's habit of pushing her religion on everything since the beginning.

Just to be clear: Mikan couldn't ask ibumi to kill herself since tecnically it would be a suicide not a murder, and i bet monokuma would find rlly boring and wouldnt let Mikan escape

Well, at least the 4th case felt unique in each game, even tho each 4th case ended up killing some I loved from the game.

It is very much obvious when you realize everyone in the badger costumes are past characters from pw aa that wanted to or were part of the police, meekins, oldbag and bellboy who at the end of the game wanted to go into law after his stand in court

Another probably case 3's tend to have is a lack of narrative weight, at least relatively speaking. Just by the way these games are structured case 3 tends to be when things are kinda in a a groove where most of the cast have accepted the Killing Games aren't gonna stop and people are starting to actively make strategies. Something few cases fully take advantage of, but I digress. Like the first case in the game is a shocker. It's the big 'oh shit' moment where things get real (Sayako's murder in the first game does this especially well with how the circumstances where Leon killed her are unraveled, or how V3 uses it to swap out the protagonist character). Case 2 then develops that by having what are usually hastily thought out 'act of passion' kills and gives characters the time and resources to develop more complex plans and be better about framing someone else (Himiko's magic act being used as a massive red-herring and means of hiding the body's cause of death, and while not intended as a means of getting away with the crime Owada switching out the locker room stuff). Case 4 is a very cerebral case that requires some outside the box thinking (Sakura's locked door mystery, the structure of the Funhouse, and the Virtual World's rules). And Case 5 is the lead-in to whatever the final case is gonna be, along with having some unique complexities (the first game actively rushing through the process and destroying the body to try and get Naegi or Kirigiri killed, the Kaito/Kokichi uncertainty and Maki planning to die on her sword either way, Nagito straight up gamifying his luck to expose the imposter). That leaves case 3 in a tricky position in the narrative. Because it can't really do much to progress the story besides wipe a few more characters off the board. And there's not much they can do different on the murder side of things without risking stepping on the toes of the last two cases. So the most they can do is take advantage of the clause in each setting's rules that two deaths are allowed per 'round' and make it a double murder. Which feeds into some of the other narrative issues. Kinda tangential but related, one issue is that Case 3's suffer a bit from feeling obligated to have two separate body reveals (at least). Which is a net neutral quality in the first game- it's even part of the point of the case to have the reveal that one of the victims was the murderer's accomplice, and just no one quite being able to keep track of what's going on and who all died- but in the second game it's kinda the root of some of that case's problem. Like a lot of plausible deniability with the events would be fixed if Hajime didn't have a chance to see the first body and we discovered both corpses at once. And 3 is just... fascinating for Korekiyo feeling the need to double-down to keep to his first plan. Like I'm shocked we never had a case where we just had two peeps die at the same time/right after each other. Like imagine one of the characters showing up to the crime scene and seeing how in whatever span of time they killed not one but two other people their own age.

So basically The third class trials are -Always evil culprits with bad motives -kills people who's getting improvement (tenko-hiyoko-kiyotaka) -the culprits killing the second victim which exposes them(Celestia killed hifumi which hifumi was the one who killed and made the plan about the robot and placed the fake building paper in hiros room so the only thing that Celestia did was tell him that kiyotaka stole the computer and remember some people did do the same like kokichi telling gonta about the plan but only gonta got executed so she would've survived if she didn't kill hifumi for no reason and she also could've also survived if she didn't help alot in solving her own case) Korekiyo if he never did the seesaw trick and killed tenko for fun he could've lived) Mikan she could've told ibuki to kill herself since anyone could've went in and told ibuki to kill herself since everyone also knew about ibukis condition so they might've considered it suicide) All that made them mess up

I would appreciate if someone told me what i'm missing here. So i just played thorugh this case and it makes no sense to me. The clock being in the wrong timezone means you would need to proof it was in paris with her but ace doesn't do that. Wouldn't the judge want to see some evidence? Maybe a picture she took of her hotel room in which you can see the clock standing there? Also i think it's very unreasonable to assume someone takes a fucking table clock on vacation. I know this video is old but i would greatly appreciate if someone pointed out what i'm missing here or if this really does not make any sense.

I appreciated this case, but I agree it was dragged out too long and got repetitive. It’s the fourth case, so it should be a long one, but the case wasn’t complex enough to justify it

30% accuracy is really good, because that means he is wrong 70% of the time. In a normal guess you would be right 50% of the time. that's a whole 20% difference

What really bothers me is that hiyoko's murder weapon was never established. Like i get that her death was last minute, (for those unaware they i itially planned for fuyuhiko to die in her place but it was changed due to potentially making pekos sacrifice meaningless) but come on. They couldve just said it was a scalpel. Its incredibly weird.

i feel like with atua, he could've been a real person manipulating angie. like it would go hard if angie actually got hypnotized and is believing in a real person instead of a god. also, the description of atua sounds like izuru, and also maki, but more likely izuru because maki is a female character and angie refers to atua as "he" also.. angie's behavior is really strange. if you heavily believe in a god you would just follow them and only mention them when relevant. angie mentions atua every single second she is breathing. it's not normal. she acts similarly to cultists and keeps trying to convince students to worship atua. this is extremely strange behavior. it's not normal. it would make sense if she was being hypnotized, blackmailed, or forced against her own will.

i think this is really great. also, something you didn't mention is that kazuichi can get some character development. akane can use her experience with nekomaru to help kazuichi get over Sonia's death, then he can get character development and be a cheery and supportive character and have a personality other than liking sonia. sounds like a win to me.

While I get what you mean when saying Mikan could've just told Ibuki to krill herself, I don't know if that would actually work. Since a suic. like that hasn't happened, we don't know how the game rules would take something like that. If it would count as Mikan being the killer or not, who you'd have to vote as the killer to win, etc. So sure Mikan could've made it super easy for herself, but in the end I'm not sure if it woulf even count as being her fault. Not to mention that we can't say for sure if the rules would even be fair in a case like that (cough Chiaki I miss you cough)

I liked Korekiyo so much, but his plot twist was butchered!! They could’ve put more depth behind it, explored more into the pain of being groomed by his sister for example! But it was just sloppiness how he just gets summed up by the game as ‘creepy incest man who likes to kill’

Honestly, I just think the writer isnt good enough at writing outside the box of the specific "one person kills another in a very overcomplex way" Whenever he has written outside of this box is almost always turned out pretty awful. Thye just cant figure out motive at all or write the overcomplex mysyery more complex

i feel like the turn they took in the third case of the second game was so lazy. like mikan’s motive felt so ridiculous and not well thought out, and obviously hiyoko being basically entirely forgotten so upsetting. i really wish hiyoko was one of the survivors because i thought she would have a similar character development to fuyuhiko. that whole case felt like they wasted all 3 characters involved tbh.

Because the motives disappoint me and because in 2 Ibuki is best girl.

I love chapter 6. The trial is personally the weaker half for me, but the investigation more than makes up for those problems. It's awesome.

On Hiyoko. I’m not sure how true this is because I can’t find the article where this was stated but I heard that Hiyoko was supposed to be a survivor and Fuyuhiko was supposed to the the second victim along side Ibuki but was switched last minute since the devs thought that by killing Fuyuhiko off it would have meant Peko died for nothing

im planning on making a fangame (in gacha because goodness even though im an artist, i cant do anime.) And in case 3 im making the motive "Accomplice" where if you kill somebody, you can save another person or more if they helped with the crime. And i have twins in there. (Vio, Ultimate Technological Inventor) (Midst, Ultimate Negotiator Prodigy) and they killed a person and they get executed together. Some plot points im thinking of is if the victim actually goes along with the plan because they care for the culprit too much and if they planned to blame it on the accomplice for the murder, but monokuma executes them both because they both worked together in the crime. (So basically person 1 commited the murder and they planned to blame it on person 2, and it worked. But they both got executed regardless)
