    My triostar is loving cabinet life. Third time’s the charm? I’m on my second white fusion - she seems to love the cabinet. I mentioned before that your white fusion tutorial was so helpful! Thoughts and prayers for your white star. I would love to add one to my collection.

      If I got another triostar, it would go straight in the cabinet for sure. That’s a good idea. Hopefully, you find a wonderful white star to add to your collection.

    Hey love what a great video, thanks for sharing. For the stromanthe put it outside under a bigger plant so that it gets partial sun and rain water. I've had two really big happy ones, growing so much. I live in Dallas tx, it gets up to 110 sometimes/ low humidity.

      I don’t have a covered porch yet. It’s on my list to do this summer. Then I can put everything outside and they’ll be so much happier ☀️

      The best secret in plant collecting is that we all are plant murderers 😂 Glad I’m not alone. Enjoy your holiday as well!

    Sorry to hear about your dead plants. Happens to all of us. I find Triostar as having same care as Calathea. I would recommend getting bigger plant if you can.

      I got myself a big triostar at the beginning of the year. So far so good. But I’m going to be more cautious with this one.

    In all my years of growing plants, I've learned one important thing: Treat all new plants like they have leprosy. Any of my new plants gets treated as follows: Into a 4 litre sprayer, mix 1/2 cup peppermint castille soap + 1/2 cup tea tree castille soap + 2 cups isopropyl alcohol + 2 tbsp. hydrogen peroxide. Spray front/back of each leaf and all stems and allow it to run through the soil. No rinsing required. Does not harm the plant whatsoever. Just as a safeguard, I repeat this treatment within 2 weeks.

      Is this your go-to treatment for all bugs? Or specifically for new plants

      @@SoiledPlant For all bugs. I do all my plants just before winter as well because it gets so dry… aka spider mite season, just as a precaution. I forgot to mention that it smells nice. Oh, one more thing - doesn’t work on snails/slugs. Those buggers are hard to get rid of. 😠

    Do you see plants out in the marketplace that make you shudder? They look beautiful and/or supposedly easy care but you know, from experience, that you will kill them? Feel this way about Domino Peace Lilly and it’s a definite ‘Step Away from the Calathea Medallion.’

    • @SoiledPlant
      @SoiledPlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m with you on the medallions. My Dottie is doing well, but all other variations hate me. I veer very clear of succulents and cacti. Though my cactus-like Euphorbia is doing great, so I may change my tune.

    I killed yet another maranta leuconeura kerchoveana and yet another peperomia caperata... But this time it was the thrips... I got another peperomia right away and I'll get another kerchoveana as soon as I see one, that will be like the 4th. I also feel like some plants just decide to die, like one of my coleus, it's poted with other 2 doing great so I don't think that's on me, sh*t happens. Good luck with the next batch.

      Noooo. I may or may not have bought my 3rd Stromanthe triostar 😬😓

    I get it. I really want a nice string of (fill in the blank). I’ve killed 2 hearts and currently have a turtle and button that are struggling. I think my problem is I buy small pots of them but do I really want to spend the money on a bigger pot just to kill it as well.

    • @SoiledPlant
      @SoiledPlant  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somehow my hearts are surviving. I’ve decided not to question it lol

      I feel your pain!! After $$$ and frustration think I have found place in my Scottsdale, Arizona home for strings - south western facing master bedroom window. String of Bananas has grown like a plant possessed - 24 inch strings over the summer. Bought a Ruby Necklace month ago which is starting to grow strings. If all goes well over the summer may step it up and get a String of Hearts.

    Maybe the Kroton would have survived outside in the summer :D

    • @SoiledPlant

      Quite possible, but I bought it in fall. It died long before even the hint of spring 🤣

    • @jessiwave8
      @jessiwave8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey yes they do great in full sun actually, the hotter the better. It sucks though once you have to bring them in for the winter, drops leaves like crazy. I'll never buy another croton
