My relationship with prayer plants has been exciting and soul crushing... like most relationships.

My stromanthe went into a self-watering pot and I stuck it in my bathroom last Fall. OMG it went bananas. Easily 20 new leaves and happy as a clam. Sometimes the calathea-types fold up leaves due to too much light. Something to consider.

Leaves can definitely curl from too much light. Mine are for sure from watering and (apparently) bugs 😂

I'm done with Calathea's I have too many plants to have fussy one's - I do have a large Rufibarba that is doing fine but if it declines or gets pests I will treat it as an annual and enjoy it as long as it's around. I would rather pay more attention to my Hoyas they never give me any trouble. I love seeing all your pretty Calathea's because they don't cause me any stress.

I get it! Sometimes fussy is just that, and we don’t need it.

I have two. That velvet jungle one recently. And got a Stromanthe trio star quite a few months ago. it crisped up when I first got it. And had to cut those leaves off but after it acclimatised it put out new leaves and is doing better. Hope you take care of yours soon. Would be an interesting video for me since I'm rather new at then but managed to save my sister's. she let it sit in water and also the leaves curled. I repot it in and watered less. When I ignored it. it started uncurling Also had to cut a bulk off of the leaves that's weren't going to get better. Got my first Stromanthe after I realised I can rehab them.

I have recently been renovating our house and unfortunately a lot of my plants have suffered brutal neglect. My calathea and ctenanthe were so bad i hacked them all down to stumps, this has worked for me before with other calathea, so im hoping like heck that it works this time too

I have a few stumps right now. They usually come back. The ornata in this video was a stump 2 years ago, so there’s hope!

I had to cut my prayer plant collection in half. I just stick with mainly maranta, one ctenanthe and the two velvety babes. I do have a makoyana that might be on the chopping block next and lastly an orbifolia. But no more for me lol

I’m still in denial and stubborn. So for now, they’ll stay in my collection. But I’m not looking to add any at this point.

Don’t let her fool you, she eats any plant she can.
