Girl I killed a snake plant ! ,one of the easiest plants to take care of ,by overwatering. Lesson learned

I know we all lose plants, and again with me having North facing windows, I’m still learning what plants work for me and ones that don’t...you still have a great collection 🌿🌿

Yes yes yes! They overwater too much! And when I try to replant a plant from a big box store due to soaking wet water and not drying out, it still ends up dying. My Burgundy Rubber is out the door soon due to home depot over watering. I repotted it because the soil was wrong and it was soaked, and now the leaves are droopy and I can't get it to revive.

Dinah Campbell ugh the worst!!! I pretty much always repot from big box stores now pretty soon after buying which I know you shouldn’t but I’m over the over watering lol

Hi, Taylor! I relate with what you said about big box stores and nurseries overwatering their plants and the soil mixture not drying. It has happened to me many times 😪

I equally sympathize. Thankfully, I have South facing windows. I keep wet plants closer to the windows where they can get a lot of indirect light for the 1st wk or 2 before I move them to their permanent spot in my home. If u have covered outside space you can take advantage of temporarily that might help as well...with more air flow and light to help dry the soil and drive more photosynthesis. There's no perfect answer. Thank you for sharing your journey.

I’ve honestly never heard of anyone doing good with ivy 😭! I’ve had two! The first one was variegated, and it was doing great!! then .... it just stopped growing . I tried everything to save it and nothing . So I gave up, and I got a huge one from Home Depot ... BEAUTIFUL! and it lasted ....... a month ? maybe .Then I noticed more and more leaves on my floor ..... I pulled it out the pot ..... and it had root rot . 🙄. At this point the ivy was so bare, I was fed up, so I tossed it over my railing outside and bid it farewell.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk about ivy and why they suck.

I've killed so many! Particularly when I was a new plant mama. I've had a lot more successes now that I'm a "seasoned" plant parent. I'm still afraid of ferns and ivy since I've killed 5 of those and I'm too nervous for the calathea family plants yet....

Nicole Greer hahaha same girl!!! Ivy hate me but I love them!! And calathea are okay, but are just needy!

I always think I'm doing good with a Calathea, but they ALWAYS get spider mites after I've have them growing successfully for a few months, and I never notice in time. I have seriously lost 5 or 6 Calathea this way.

I hope you dont feel bad about the snow queen pothos. I had one and I don’t know what happened, the white leaves one by one turned yellow and brown. I’ve heard the same thing happens to lots of those plants. Mine died a slow death 💀 oh well

I would bet almost anything that schefflera had a pest you couldn't see. They are so much more pest-prone than people let on and they seem to be prone to weird ones. Check the plants that were near that one. It might have been some latent root pest that was in there the whole time. Truly wasn't your fault, I bet, because other than pests, they can handle quite a bit of benign neglect.

Deanna Rausch I scoured the plant and didn’t see anything but I didn’t check the roots throughly so you’re right could have Been!! Thank you!!

I’ve heard ivy is known for pests. I recently found a senecio wax ivy plant, it looks like an ivy but is actually a succulent. maybe an option for you?
