In the song "Promises" by James Horner, it sound like a slowed down form of "Hymn to the Sea" from the 1997 movie, Titanic. Nice touch but this doesn't change my opinion on Titanic. I loved TASM since I first watched it in 2021.
I really was ready to dislike this film when it first came out. I was heartbroken when Spider-Man 4 got canceled, I loved Spider-Man 3, studio interference and all. But boy did this movie win me over. It was my favorite movie for a long long time and it earned that. I still hope that the Venom-verse can be the TASM-verse as it would currently require no retcons and match up perfectly.
The Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2 are the best spiderman movies in my opinion. The 1st is the best written movie of all spiderman movies (yes even spiderman 2) while the 2 despite writing deficiencies caused by the running time not enough to tell what they wanted has a staging brilliant and evokes interesting themes such as the passage of time and the difficulty for a superhero to succeed and manage everything. Good video anyway.
After watching the 2024 rerelease, here's a few new points: The characters didn't just feel "realistic," they felt like the most "human" of the live action portrayals we've had. That's a term I should have used instead. Peter's reaction to seeing the cranes is less of "that was thoughtful" and more of "they accept me now," because until this point, the reception Spider-Man received was mixed. Seeing that the people had finally accepted him as a hero just hit really hard. And I must once again mention the visuals. This movie and its sequel are not only the most beautiful Spider-Man films, but probably some of the most beautiful comic book movies, too. The CGI has aged really well for a twelve year old movie, and again, they really know how to make New York shine and look pleasing to look at. You could take any random shot in the movie and it would look great as a stand-alone photo or even a desktop background. Marc Web did a really good job with the direction. The scene at the funeral, with the shot above the umbrellas was so nice. There are countless other scenes that looked amazing, but I'd rather not go on a huge tangent about that. And in the final cut of the movie, Ratha mentions that he and Connors should finish up the serum for Osborne before they "lose their heads." Funnily enough, in a deleted scene later on, the Lizard eats Ratha's head off. Ironic, huh? I wish they would have kept that scene (and most of the other ones) in. But still! Even two years after this video came out, I'm finding new things to like about this movie!
Peter is incomplete because of the death of these parents. Because of this death (and also because his only friend Harry abandoned him but since it's in tasm2, it doesn't count), Peter isolated himself from the others and logically became selfish (even though we feel that he has a good side represented by the scene where he saves the boy intimidated by Flash). Curt is in the same situation: because of his feeling of being incomplete due to his disability, he became obsessed with research and made a pact with the devil with Oscorp (while we feel that he has a philanthropic purpose but he got lost) The attaché case of Peter's father represents a Pandora's box for the characters: instead of solving their problems as they believe, it will aggravate them. Peter believes that by knowing the reason why these parents abandoned him and by continuing his father's research, he will become complete when in fact no, he will neglect those who raised him causing Uncle Ben's death; Curt believes that the lizard formula will allow all disabled people including him to get better, while in fact, Oscorp will steal his product to help Norman Osborn and that he himself will become a monster not caring about human life. Instead of questioning each other, the two will continue in their self-destructive ways: Peter is going on a quest for revenge and Curt is going to want to turn the population of NY into lizards. Except that only one thing separates the two men: Curt is alone while Peter is not. . Gwen, who saw her good side when he defended the boy is gradually falling in love with him, Aunt May sees that her nephew is in crisis and is trying to help him and of course, Captain Stacy, who in the dinner scene, makes Peter aware of these mistakes and the consequences they can have. His quest for revenge motivated by his suffering made him move away from the ideal of his father and his uncle. So Peter changes from that moment on: he really opens up to Gwen as he had never opened up to anyone since his father's death and then helps innocent people. Here are the two things that make Peter complete: Gwen but also being Spiderman, helping others. That's why he doesn't go back in his quest for revenge after the breakup: it wasn't Gwen who motivated him to become better, it was by becoming better that he managed to get into a relationship with Gwen.
The Amazing Spiderman 2 has a totally different story: where in the 1st, Peter only made bad choices and took the consequences in his face here, he only makes good choices which despite everything, also have negative consequences. He saves Max and tells him that he is important, Max becomes obsessed with Spiderman. He tries to prevent Max from killing people in Times Square, Max feels betrayed and becomes Electro. He does not give his blood to Harry who is his friend so as not to create a second lizard, Harry injects himself with a spider serum and becomes nasty. Peter separates from Gwen so as not to put her in danger, there is no point, their love is too strong, they get back together for a few moments and then she dies killed by the Green Jester. So Spider Man appears as a modern Sisyphus: despite all these efforts to protect everyone, he does not succeed and the stone falls. Because the life of a superhero is hard. But the film, instead of staying on this negative message, makes us understand thanks to the Rhino scene that even if it's hard, there are reasons to struggle. Spiderman inspired this kid to do the right thing and that's what a hero is for. The message of the film is therefore to say that despite all the suffering, the consequences that super heroism can garner, we must not give up.
@@PokemonRater Totally agree with you. I'm really bummed that we didn't get a sequel and instead got this spiderman mcu trilogy crap (no way home being the worst studded with miriads of inconsistencies).
@monstergeek1613 I actually liked No Way Home, and I thought Homecoming was okay, as well. The only one I'm not really a fan of was Far From Home; I don't know what they were thinking with the writing; especially the humor.
@@PokemonRater For me, the humor is one of the main problems of this trilogy with the characters being uninteresting and without depth and the fact that ultimately, these films do not bring anything to the spider-man franchise and that the only good ideas of the films (the theme of the heritage and the difficulty of being a superhero in a world with already superheroes, the love interest which is a rebellious and slightly cynical girl and finally the notion of the multiverse to talk about what makes a spiderman) are a thousand times best exploited in and across the spiderverse.I made two videos on it but since I'm French using automatic subtitles to watch English videos, my videos are in my language.
small correction, captain Stacy didn't say to stay away from Gwen, he said to leave Gwen out of this meaning the superhero stuff like at the end of the movie Gwen tried to help peter which only endangered her
The reason why the original trilogy and TASM1 were memorable was because of the producer LAURA ZISKIN It was because of her and her husband (the screenwriter Alvin Sargent) that the movies had depth AVI ARAD on the other hand, just wanted to use the movies to sell toys Unfortunately, she died in 2011, during the production of this movie Without her, there was no one to stop Arad from destroying the franchise again Spider-Man was nothing without her
When tasm was announced I remember being appalled they were rebooting spiderman. I absolutely loved spiderman 1 and 2, and because of this, I refused to watch tasm in theatres. Then later I ended up watching it against my will, and I actually loved it. Then I watched tasm2 and I actually (I'll be crucified for this) liked it even more than the first one. I understand people's grievances with it, but I still absolutely loved it, and still do. When push comes to shove, I prefer Toby as Peter, but Garfield is a close second. Don't get me started on Disney's spiderboy, I hate hollands peter.
As someone who was in high school at the time, I liked how it captured the early 2010s sensibility. It was a little cooler and the visuals are so gorgeous, especially the lighting, like the nighttime scenes. I enjoyed watching the character swinging around way more than in the Raimi ones. I rewatched it for the first time just now since seeing it in theaters. There's so much coolness to it, my only gripe is how the movie borrows too many plot points from the 2002 movie. I think if a remake was being developed so soon, it should've been more different. I mean it's so similar it's kinda ridiculous -- like how the villain (a scientist from oscorp) is pressured into performing human trials so they test the material on themselves -- it's even green too! The villain was just not profound. I'm watching tasm2 for the first time ever and although I'm enjoying the vibe, the plot conveniences and over reliance on oscorp is insane lol. (ex -- he's chasing a truck of plutonium stolen from -- you guessed it -- oscorp. and during the chase saves Jamie Foxx who's an employee of -- oscorp.) I kinda like that first one more but i don't get why there's always an incestuous circle of characters in spider-man movies, like even in that one it just so happened Gwen was a tour guide at oscorp as well. And they were in high school! ugh, they almost got it right. Honestly I wish the ones behind these Garfield versions succeeded so we could at least get a consistent version to follow. And you saw how oscorp was basically set up as the villain factory by the end of the second. ugh.. that is just poor writing, but I still admire the good qualities of both. They almost got it right and I'd watch these over the disney version any day.
How tf does this only have 400 vies and 22 likes?!??? This video is fucking awesome and shows exactly why I love this movie. This video is just as underrated as the movie 🤦🏻♂️
I think my main problem with amazing spider-man is that the movie tone is a bit inconsistent and puzzling as the film doesn't want to know if it wants to be dark or light I think the film suffers from identity crisis as its trying to be something that it is not this film came out the post dark knight era where every superhero adaptation iven if the characters themselves weren't dark or gritty still wanted to be the latter spider-man isnt really the right character to make gritty and dark . The realsim with Peter parker works in the movies favor because the intention is to make it realistic it was written by the late and great alvin sergeant who wrote the screenplay for ordinary people and spider-man 2 I think the film works best as a character study then a superhero movie but that's just my opinion.

There's no contest when it comes to which love interest is better, Gwen Stacy in tasm movies is so much better than Mj in sm. Not even a contest.
Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man is my favorite of the three
Yes andrew spider man is
My favorite adaptation of spider man 🥰
