      @Yammie Noob, Sup yammie, Im getting more and more into bikes and want to get one in a year or two. I know what I want out of a bike but I have know idea which one to go after. I watched many videos and just figured I’d ask the expert himself. I’m a brand new person to bikes so obviously I need a beginner bike. But I’m looking for something sporty, fun and fast. What would you recommend?

    I bought a 250L new in 2016. I love it. Fisher price plastics, you can drop it and break just levers. I liked that it was efi, and it replaced an ‘82 XR250L that had been through hell and back. I fully intend to keep the little CRF as a second bike in the future, or maybe as my off-road bike and pivot to more street (I have too many hobbies). But so far I can’t say I’ve been unhappy with it.

    I usually recommend the 250-500CC Honda and Kawasaki ADV or enduro or whatever style street legal dirt bike to beginners and everyone in general honestly just because they're the most versatile and fun AND light as hell, usually easy to work on and parts are easy to find. Biggest obstacle is most of them are fairly tall but other than that nobody ever regrets buying one, they usually only ever regret selling them or just upgrade to a bigger ADV bike

  • @woodchipwedgie
    @woodchipwedgie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I wish Honda made a trail only version of this similar to the Kawasaki KLX 300R. If they took this platform and got rid of the street legal stuff and improved the suspension, it would be lighter and have the longer maintenance intervals with better suspension. Honda is holding onto the 250 trail bike, when it could easily upgrade it or at least offer an option like Kawasaki gave to the market. There are so many people that want a reliable trail bike. Not everyone races at a track in California, yet we don't want to bottom out over a root. KTM and Husky make a better woods bike that can lug and be snappy, but their maintenance schedule is that of a race bike and they are tall. Hell, even if Yamaha made a $6k reliable trail bike with good suspension that would be great. If they sold the WR250R for $7k, they could have traded the dual sport street legal stuff for better suspension and sold it for $6.5k. The WR250R weighed like 290lbs; I wonder if it were just a trail bike with better suspension if they could get it down to 250 lbs?

    Honestly seems like a dope first bike. The fun of a dirtbike but its also street legal? Honestly would have considered something like this as a first bike if I knew how restrained I felt riding on public roads. Less fun to be had

      The brake line is not a big issue. Just zip tie it loosely to the handle bar or the fork.

    Hope Yamaha takes some hints and looks at maybe doing a TW 300 or like you said the WR 350R. that would kill. and seriously what is up with that brake line? Why is the 300 cc range lacking in options! there are like a million street bikes to choose from and hardly any 300 cc dual sports. I have a TW200 and love it for what I do but lets face it shes a putter and a farm bike not much of a show pony haha.

      Klx due to the better suspension at your weight. You’d bottom out the crf in a heartbeat. Also you would benefit from the little extra seat height.

      Look at the XT250 if you’re concerned about seat height, this bike would def be on the tippy toe side of things for you. XT250 is like two inches lower, stock. Though I’m sure you can mod the seat height one way or another…

    I know for most of the rest of the world this might seem crazy, but living in rural Texas (not THAT far from Yammie) my first question of any motorcycle made for street use is: Can it easily cruise at 90-95mph (145-153kph) for hours and hours on end? If the answer is no, then it isnt usable on the highways here, and automatic pass.

    • @joelthemole3020
      @joelthemole3020 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Birdz_Hustle I mean, that isn't true everywhere, I just got back from Costa Rica and I never saw anything higher than 80KPH there, although a guide said some places it gets to 90KPH (about 56MPH). But here in rural Texas, if I can't cruise at 90MPH, and preferably have enough acceleration potential to left over to escape forward if needed, then even in the slow lane I am going to have lines of cars passing me. The slower I go, the more cars need to pass me, eventually one of those cars wont be paying attention and run me over, I call this freeway roulette.

      There’s some truth here for sure. I ride a 650L, but it’s tall and heavy, so was considering a 300L. This is one thing that keeps me hesitant. It’ll be lighter sure, but won’t have the legs like my 650 does when I need it.
