Still riding my 1973 honda motosport 250. I was 14 years old when this sl version came out, and now I'm 64 years old still enjoying it just as much.. Great video.
Wish I had my 1974 Kawasaki 250 Enduro used to ride that in the early mid-80swhen I was 15 my brother got it.. he just stripped it and took it to the junkyard. Nothing wrong with it.
That is so awesome, Hondas just go forever with the right care. I'm 65 and really regret selling my XR500A many decades ago, they fetch really big money now. Regards from New Zealand.
The wooden sign and the vehicles seen at 8:50 is from a Scout camp I've been a leader at for years, hence the WR on the sign. I had a CRF250L down there in 2023! It truly is some amazing country for exploring. Hint, sometimes the cows are too stubborn to move, but I've found the shrill of a bicycle bell really gets them moving and have had one on every bike after I learned that. Keep up the adventures!
Damnit. I don't even have a licence. Why am i watching this? Now I have to make it, explain myself to my wife, buy a CRF, move to the countryside where I can happily ride it, quitt my job to have time for it, teach the kids at home...but I guess it's worth it, right?
Only you can answer that. Just look at it this way, you have 2 choices with the crf300 in the L or Rally. Don't wait till you're too old to do so. Good luck with your decision.✌🍻
It’s probably good for a first bike. I was expecting a different ride. Had they let me test ride it before I bought it I would not have bought it. If I were you I would look into something like a Suzuki SV650. That’s a street only bike, but proven reliability. It’s plenty fast for a new rider and the power is easily handled as well. And it’s cheap. If you get a CRF300 you will be wanting something with more power for traffic in no time. Not to mention a light weight bike like a CRF300 can be terrifying for a new rider on the highway. You get blown all over the highway because it’s tall and very light. The center of gravity will have you teeter tottering in the wind and that will make you not want to ride it on windy days.
@@Nine_883 Hi there.. Ive had some scepticism on the rather low cc too. I bet you have a valid point in regards of wind too. Will keep that in mind. Thx for the consideration I actually did my license on the sv650 and absolutely loved it. However, Ive been long-distance bicycle travelling a lot for a decade and so and seek to take it further on a MC. So I need something that´ll be reliable on gravel roads and taking to a forest for camping etc. I know this bike might not be the most exciting on the highway but on the other hand ADVs often seem a bit heavy and pricy. Thought about short-term renting some different bikes throughtout the year before deciding
I saw all the videos that are actually availlable on line about the magic Honda CRF 300 L; so far you have done the very best job! Amazing review, complete and professional, amazig landscapes and amazing movie montage. Well done.
i’ve got the previous generation of the bike - a 2018 crf250L, and it is everything i want in a bike. i grew up on dirt bikes riding trails/gravel roads, so i really wanted a bike that wouldn’t make me give that up. sure, it’s cruising speed is a little low (which is why i’m eyeing the 300 for that small boost in power), but it is incredibly relaxing and freeing to ride, you stop focusing on going fast and can cruise while appreciating the beauty of nature around you, which i think is amazing
Great profile of this excellent dual sport! This is one of the motorcycles that just brings back the joy of riding that we all fell in love with to begin with. Bigger, faster and flashier is not always the thing that makes the experience better. This bike reminds me of the Honda 185 I had many years ago that was just a great bike. Your video production is beautifully done. The videography is great with stunning views and the calm narration is tremendous. Overall just flawless, keep up the good work!
Same Honda sound i first heard in 1963 from a Cub 50. 27 HP is same as '62 Superhawk acquired in '68. The 305 was the superbike back then. Reliability go 500+ miles a day rode hard, handled better than most all others.
I ride (tour) a BMW1200GS. Absolutely love it. Just bought Christmas 300L so i could stay profecient, ride daily...700 trail miles since Christmas day and i absolutely have fallen in love with this bike. Going to buy another so friends can go with.
Great video! I have driven a a lot of different bikes, in a lot of different environments. I even own bikes in 3 different countries and without a doubt, Honda CRF 300L is my favorite bike ever. I just returned from a 2000km long trip in Thailand with it and had such a blast
Great video! Just picked my CRF300L up from the dealership today to compliment my Tiger 800 xCx when I want a lighter bike on the dirt roads and trails. I was only able to put 40 miles on it this afternoon, but loving it so far! Obviously not as powerful as the Tiger (which is an awesome bike), but it is 150 pounds lighter!
I've also got the Tiger xcx and thinking of the 300L as a second bike. I'd love to know more details of your thoughts and experience comparing the two and how they may compliment each other. I'm 6.2 and 100kg so I was worried about the bike maybe being too small. I've never ridden the 300L or even seen one in person as they get sold before even landing in the country here in South Africa. Besides being an alternative bike I am hoping to build skill and confidence on the smaller 300 which may translate to my XCX. If you willing to share, I'm all ears.
Hey Brett, I don’t have as much experience on the 300L as the original commenter but I am 6’2” as well and actually found the bike pretty comfortable. You could always add risers if you felt the need but I was pretty comfortable riding it for those two days and and off road. If I owned it I would do stiffer springs first.
I only have about 450 miles on the CRF300L so far versus 7,500 on the Tiger. It definitely took me a few miles just to get used to how differently the much lighter bike handles and reacts to minor inputs. I hadn’t ridden a small bike in over 35 years. I have had it off pavement mostly on dirt roads and forest service roads, so haven’t thoroughly thrashed it but even with my heavier than average weight, it does fine on those types of roads. I was wondering how it would do as a street bike on twisties when I take it to our cabin in the mountains vs the Tiger and I have been pleasantly surprised. While it certainly doesn’t compare to riding the much more powerful Triumph, it is was still extremely fun due to its lightweight and flickability. A buddy met me for a ride on Saturday on his Street Triple and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to keep up with him, but it really wasn’t an issue. I can do a few mph over 70 mph on flat pavement, sitting straight up so never really got left behind on the curves. I am 5’11” and about 30-40 pounds heavier than you and it has been comfortable enough for 2-3 hour rides, but it certainly isn’t as comfortable as my Tiger which I can ride all day without my backside protesting.
I bought a CT125 in 2022. Slow ass bike but you change the sprockets and it’s a hella fun trail bike… buuuut it still lacks considerable power for hills. The CRF is less than $2,000 more and you get so much more. I want one!
In the same way a new puppy helps relieve the pain of losing a beloved dog, this 300 might help me get over the guilt of letting my WR250R go to another home.
Great ride along and commentary. Agree w/ all points. The CRF300 brings the enjoyment of riding back the horsepower wars of the big bikes have taken away. I upgraded forks w/ full cartridge KTech and a KTech rear. World of difference and fully tunable.
Hello, a really great video! After 35 years, I got back into motorcycling with the CRF 250L. This motorcycle is really a great piece that will stick with you through thick and thin. Easy to drive, good-natured and robust. Thanks to this machine, I found joy in motorcycling again and am now riding the new Benelli TRK 700X. Kind regards from far away Germany.😉🏍
The CR250/300L is simply the most under-appreciated bike on TH-cam reviews. I guess they all want faster, more macho machines. But for those of us who just want to get "out there", with minimum pretenses, minimum $$, minimum hassle, and probably minimum skill, this bike shines. Thank you for pointing out it's virtues.
A few years ago i was broke and hit the trail on an old yammie ttr-125. In the parking lot with my work boots, jeans, and battered helmet, i was jealous and a bit ashamed as i unloaded next to some folks setting off in fancy gear with brand new Ktms. But i had a huge grin on my face as i went around them going up a hill a few hundred yards down the trail. I was out there having fun, and that's all that mattered. 😁
GREAT Video. I already own a crf300 and that is. A great bike where you find confident to explore, not race. I also own a crf1100 also great bike, but in a different way.
Sir, I got introduced to your channel by the algorithm and I'm now subscribed. You're on par with fortnine on cinematography. I wish all the success to you and the channel.
I had an XR400R and now have the CRF300L. The XR400R was a better bike especially off-road. The XR250R was a much better bike. I live ten minutes from the TET and with upgraded suspension and tires the CRF300L will take you anywhere you want to go . I only weigh 68 kilos and was constantly bottoming the bike at both ends with the stock suspension.
Yeah. Itchy boots went from Patagonia to Alaska on that thing and crossed most of Africa until she fell and broke her collar bone. She put over 50.000km in two years on that bike.
Fantastic video I have a CRF300 and this has inspired me to get back on and ride it more. Thank you. And I appreciate how much it takes to create these videos well done!
I have ridden my CRF300L for over 4000km in two months since I got it, so why do I keep watching reviews of the bike? I love the bike it's so perfect. Just upgraded the gas tank to the larger Acerbis one. Changed to the SeatConcept saddle and larger pegs a while ago, they were excellent upgrades but having Öhlins suspension from the get go seems to have been the right choice. It's such a lovely bike.
One of the best videos about bikes I have ever seen. Fantastic footage. That bike is awesome, light, nimble, reliable and nice to look at. A real dual purpose motorbike that makers do no want to produce... so we might discover that a 25cv/135 kg bike is more capable than a 125cv/250 kg monster.
Amazing video - scenery is outstanding and filming! Turned 50 last year and decided to treat myself and bought a bike (after 16 years without one). Bought an inexpensive used Vulcan to get back into riding, but now I so want a dual sport - your vid has pretty much convinced me the CRF300L will be what I'm spending my money. Newly subscribed, keep up the GREAT work!
Awesome video! I love my 300l I have the k-tech suspension on it and it works great, it would soak up almost everything, but one thing to keep in mind is that the seat heights is now 37 inches tall
I own a Rally version for over a year now. For its price, you can't ask for more, and you really don't need any mods except for suspension (if your skills warrant it). And the second downside is that it's tad bit under-powered - it's difficult to make the rear wheel loose grip while cornering in a 2nd or 3rd gear (depends on the surface) if you want to do some power slide. That's all you really need to know. There's now an aftermarket big bore kit available which probably would make this bike perfect, but you would have to spend 1-2k $ for such upgrade.
I don’t understand your point about a powerslide. I’ve seen videos of guys doing wheelies out of 2nd and 3rd. Seems it would have enough power then. “Depending on surface”, all the powerslide vids I see on dualsports occur in dirt.
This is like a comfy, flat sand/gravel trail bike/dual sport, not a hc enduromonster like a CRF300RX Enduro Special or something (which is over double the price for obvious reasons). So the fact that it can still do that stuff (obviously not as fast) is pretty neat. Just upgrade the suspension if you need to and you got a sweet ride for what its meant for
I’m seriously considering one of these after a couple year hiatus from bikes, and it’s great to hear a perspective that differs from the spec-sheet comparison videos saying it’s not as good as “abc” bike. Thank you sir!
Holly cow, was this wonderfully cinematic! Watched it with real pleasure! Even more so, being a proud and happy owner of 300L myself. I can totally agree with all your remarks - it may not be a beast, but a wonderfully reliable, confidence-inspiring tool. Wish you many wonderful adventures! Greetings from Poland!
I've had mine for 6500km and the only complaint is the back suspension, when doing jumps the back will bounce higher than the front and it nose dives , but I've ridden it really hard and still going strong, now I am outgrowing it a bit because of the lack of power but its still a fun bike
Nice video - production value is off the charts! Had no idea parts of Canada looked like that. That shot where the drone is going over the grass by the wind turbines and then the bike comes into the frame, is money.
Great cinematography throughout‼️… keep it up. Really enjoy seeing that you have a lot of great Alberta content & are proving exposure through your experience & lens‼️…. Very much enjoyed the review of the CRF 300 as well as credit to Riley Adventures👍👍👏👏
Just so happens I Bought my CRF 300L today, this video was so so perfect and timely to watch. keep it up! and the bike is so fun, I ride also a 2018 S1000R so this small CC bikes are still the best.
I have a 2023 Rally. The CRF300L is a fantastic platform. I've already dealt with the handlebars, grips, crash bars, soft bags and 12v socket. I have an Acerbis skid plate waiting for when I'm ready to deal with modifying the plastic on the Rally. Next will be the suspension.
@@rangeroadmotoThe Acerbis skid plate is for the base CRF300L, so the plastics on the Rally will need to be trimmed for it to fit. Acerbis doesn't make one that is compatible with the Rally plastics.
Great, but you forgot to mention the yama wr250r. Had one for 8 years and regret selling it as they are allmost never for sale used in seden anymore. Bought mine used for 3000usd and sold it after 8 years and putting 30000kms on it for 5000usd (ok did like 2000usd in mods on it but thats during 8 years and all those miles, no issues and rode it like i stole it every day) for me its the dualsport king, would love to try the honda.
Good video, great bike 😉 I've had mine for 3 yrs and still love it. I've done long distance black top/gravel roads with a friend on a T7. Taken it on intermediate/hard enduro meets, I kept up with all 300T strokes. I have 100mm less ground clearance, that's what a bash plate is for. I'll be commuting on it for a week soon while my car is in the shop. It blows me away how versatile it is.
I’m 60 and knees are shot I have a yz426f for 20 years I was tired of kick starting it so I bought a 2023 crf300l and I love it except you don’t want to ride it on sand or it will put you on the ground with the stock tires I crashed 3 times in 2 days but if you ride on road or trails it’s fine but I recommend the tire upgrade my yz426f never crashed but it’s a true motocross bike it eats sand but I love my Honda motorcycles I have 4 and they never let me down
The landscape is breathtaking. I would not hesitate to buy one of these if we had sth. similar to ride here in Germany. No offroading allowed anywhere.

Fantastic case for the wonderful little 300! Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you :D
Great all around video! Sharing it even with friends who don't even ride (yet), because it is so well done!
Wow! Thats super nice of you. Really appreciate the kind words!
Great video buddy. You really got some fantastic footage of AB. Especially the drone flybys of the wind farms. Great job!
Thanks so much, that part of the country is really beautiful
Fabulous scenery and disarming humor. Thanks for the ride, Blake.
🏍❤😃👍👍👍👍
Amazing video - scenery is outstanding and filming! Turned 50 last year and decided to treat myself and bought a bike (after 16 years without one). Bought an inexpensive used Vulcan to get back into riding, but now I so want a dual sport - your vid has pretty much convinced me the CRF300L will be what I'm spending my money. Newly subscribed, keep up the GREAT work!
That’s awesome! Dual sporting is so much fun, really opens up a whole new world. Enjoy! And thanks for subscribing :)
Beautiful footage, great video. Thanks. As an American visitor, I have enjoyed the Alberta landscapes very much.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah Alberta gets overlooked by a lot of people but I do love it here. Thanks for watching
Beautiful scenery! Nice bike!
Awesome video! I love my 300l I have the k-tech suspension on it and it works great, it would soak up almost everything, but one thing to keep in mind is that the seat heights is now 37 inches tall
Why didn’t you get the short shock?
I bought my 300l pre-owned and it came with the k-tech suspension already on it
@@ferkuzuel ah, gotcha. You probably got a good deal then...
are the front shocks stock?
@@foaley77 it has a k-tech spring in the front
What a place to ride a motorcycle !!!! beautiful scenery 👍👍👍👌👌👌 ....
It’s all so beautiful around there :)
@@matts7975 Wheelies are possible by dropping clutch. I don't know if anyone does that in order to lose rear wheel grip when cornering.
Great video, I bought one of the last 250L’s and love it! It has taken me places I would have never found on a bigger bike.
It’s true, these small bikes will go almost anywhere!
Ultimate affordable All-rounder!
That scenery is unreal! I gotta make it up north on the bike next season for sure! Great video dude!
Heck yeah let’s ride!!
Great video. Beautiful country ❤
Outstanding perspective on the Honda and its capabilities. Thank you for sharing! :)
Great job on this video. I'm thinking about this Honda for my next bike (Rally version). Thanks for the review!
That bike look like fun, thank you for great scenery
Great vid, beautiful filming and a good insight into the 300L
Holly cow, was this wonderfully cinematic! Watched it with real pleasure!
Even more so, being a proud and happy owner of 300L myself. I can totally agree with all your remarks - it may not be a beast, but a wonderfully reliable, confidence-inspiring tool.
Wish you many wonderful adventures!
Greetings from Poland!
Thanks for all the kind words! Is there good off road riding in Poland?
Very beautifully shot and edited video! Such beautiful country!
I've had mine for 6500km and the only complaint is the back suspension, when doing jumps the back will bounce higher than the front and it nose dives , but I've ridden it really hard and still going strong, now I am outgrowing it a bit because of the lack of power but its still a fun bike
Amazing video, I am about to pick this bike up. Looks like a good buy.
CRF300 the best on rough and smoothie rides
Nice video - production value is off the charts! Had no idea parts of Canada looked like that. That shot where the drone is going over the grass by the wind turbines and then the bike comes into the frame, is money.
Excellent video! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Great cinematography throughout‼️… keep it up. Really enjoy seeing that you have a lot of great Alberta content & are proving exposure through your experience & lens‼️…. Very much enjoyed the review of the CRF 300 as well as credit to Riley Adventures👍👍👏👏
I agree 100% Jason!
Just so happens I Bought my CRF 300L today, this video was so so perfect and timely to watch. keep it up! and the bike is so fun, I ride also a 2018 S1000R so this small CC bikes are still the best.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to post
Oh thank YOU for watching! Really appreciate the kind words
very nicely done chaps, nice flow, great scenery. Mellow vibe just like the Honda...yo from NZ
Thanks for the great Canadian review. Nice bike, beautiful country.
Sounds awesome! What mods are you doing on the plastics?
@@rangeroadmotoThe Acerbis skid plate is for the base CRF300L, so the plastics on the Rally will need to be trimmed for it to fit. Acerbis doesn't make one that is compatible with the Rally plastics.
best quality bike review ive seen. good job
Very enjoyable! I’m still blasting about on my 96 XR250R, but one of my sons has a CFR and it is pretty much what you describe in this video.
What a fantastic video 📹 thoughtful contribution and opinion. Also the beautiful scenery and well crafted video and vo. A marvel. Thank you so much.
Fantastic video! Loved the drone shots and the editing is top notch. Perfectly timed as well with all of that show!
Thanks so much! This was one of my favourite areas I’ve filmed in. Just so beautiful.
Beautiful video!
What you describe of the riding experience reminds me of when I was a kid riding my Honda xr80 after school.
I think that’s a perfect description!
The twenty seconds of footage that begins at 1:25 really gets your gears going 🤩-makes you think I WANT-great video
Great video. Appreciate the bike review and the scenery.
Great video. Been looking at getting one of these. Thanks for the sharing. Great drone shots!
Beautiful cinematography and story-telling!
I fully agree! I think a lot of people look passed it because of what they think 300cc’s can do, but it’s a great bike.
How is it this is the first I hear about Riley doing tours ? Great video , love the scenery in that part of the world .
Right? No idea either!
@advriley I think we need to plan a big tour this year coming up! just do a massive ride and I'll come along and film it and you can tell dad jokes
@@rangeroadmoto a ride with @advriley is already on my list 👍
Ordered One few months ago, had a call from Honda yesterday they said I can pick it up in two weeks time. I’m so excited.
I’m 60 and knees are shot I have a yz426f for 20 years I was tired of kick starting it so I bought a 2023 crf300l and I love it except you don’t want to ride it on sand or it will put you on the ground with the stock tires I crashed 3 times in 2 days but if you ride on road or trails it’s fine but I recommend the tire upgrade my yz426f never crashed but it’s a true motocross bike it eats sand but I love my Honda motorcycles I have 4 and they never let me down
Great job, entertaining, quality work, thanks !
Thank you for watching!
Shopping bikes right now, and this is slowly showing itself to be everything I'm looking for in a "forever bike".
The landscape is breathtaking. I would not hesitate to buy one of these if we had sth. similar to ride here in Germany. No offroading allowed anywhere.
Really?
Great video excellent review. Can't wait to see your Kove 450 video you mentioned, I am loving mine
great vid - maybe one day i get across the water to canada and get in touch with riley
Just wind up the spring pre load on the rear shock way better and works for me at 100 kgs
